50 and over week of May 3 check in

Good morning Jann, Beth, Magnolia and Tricia,

Jann I was wrong about triceps. Everything is sore today.

I need to drink more water. I never drink that much plain water but haven't been even drinking my 4 glasses of green tea a day.

Tuesday used 2062 calories, ate 1514 calories

I will need to get to the gym today for pullups for disc 2.

Joan

HI ladies!
My numbers for yesterday are pretty darn good. When ever I mow I get a lot more steps in and burn some calories!:D Calories Burned 2779 Calories Consumed 1281 Steps 13004.

I did Disk 2 today. My triceps were already sore now, well, I can't wait until this evening - I had to use the pink band, that green one was not doable for me! The time really does seem to fly by! :D

Drink that water girl! I bought one of those 32oz hard plastic water bottles. I try to drink one while working out and another through out the day plus my green tea. Having a measured water bottle seem to help me keep track. I got mine at Target for cheap.

Disc 2 today!

Hello ladies,

Well, I survived Disc #2! Those chinups/pullups = speechless! I've been working out with DH the past month and a half, gearing up for STS and we did assisted pullups. When we started that, I could do 2-3 assisted pullups. By the end of April it was 8-10 assisted pullups. WELL, I did 3 unassisted ones in each set today....I must remember that the strength will come.

I'm not doing any calorie tracking or anything, I'm just going to see how well I do with this rotation and eating sensibly. My goal is to drop about 15 pounds by the end.

I must say, I remembered to do the extended stretch today and I feel that's making a major difference in how I feel today as opposed to Monday.

Can't wait for KPC tomorrow - that's one of my favorites!!

Nice job Tricia!! :D I attempted the first set didn't do so well so I grabbed the tubing for the other sets. I can still feel it.

What are you using to do your chinups/pullups on?

Good evening Beth, Jann, Magnolia and Tricia,

Tricia good work on pullups. I use assisted pull up machine at gym set at 110lbs so I am only lifting 57lbs of body weight.

Just finished disc 2. Imax2 bothered right knee a little so I'm not going to do kbc tomorrow. I usually avoid kickboxing anyway for my joints. I will either do lowmax or basic step .

Only 1729 calories burned so far today, I better get to treadmill.

Good morning, Joan, Jann, Beth & welcome, Tricia!

Sorry I have been sort of out of it lately. We went to visit a friend in Brockton, Mass over the weekend & I have been very busy trying to catch up on course work (I'm working toward a masters degree--my mother always said it's important to keep your brain active). Anyway, I have been reading your posts about STS, and I am exploring the possibility for myself.

Jann, I am still doing CLX. I love the Push Phase, but only one more workout this month, then I go to the Lean Phase. Did you like the Lean Phase? Anyway, I have been working out more regularly and feeling a lot better. Can't say I have lost weight, but decided yesterday to be much more vigilant about what I put into my body. And I am lifting heavier than I ever have & enjoying it!

Tricia, keep stretching. Not only will it keep the muscle soreness down, you'll be glad you did some day when your flexibility is above average and you can still be active.

Joan, glad to hear you are able to start STS now, I know you and Jann have been really looking forward to it. It sounds as if you are both doing well.

Hi, there, Beth. Hope all is well with you.

Take care, Ladies, and have a great day!

Gearing up for KPC!

Hello ladies,

I am going to be doing KPC as soon as a jump off the computer, just wanted to say that I went with DH and did a walk/run at our local park. We walked 1.25 miles, then ran 1.25. I had rubber legs after that (I'm not a big fan of running!, just did it to support him since we've been doing workouts together.)

SO now, the time has come for KPC. I'm going to start with the abs and then go back and do the workout. I find those pikes impossible to do after all that punching!

Keep up the great work, everyone.

Hi girls.
Magnolia I didn't finish all 4 weeks of the Lean Phase. That's when things started to go wrong. :( But, what I did I liked. WAY TO GO on getting there!! From what I read a lot of other gals said the lean phase is where they could really tell a difference. HIGH FIVE on getting stronger. I am 100% sure doing CLX got me back into lifting heavy again. A Big Congrats on going for your Masters --:D:cool:

Joan I love basic step!! :D I like not having to "think" about the moves just get in there and do them. I read someplace that STS cardio was going to be a bit easy on us... I hope so.

Tricia That is great to have DH support I know how much that means with staying on track.

I did KPC today and burned 451 calories would have been more if I didn't have to modify those jumps...;)
Numbers yesterday were Burn 2695 Consumed 1334 Steps 10221(only because I ran around after noticing I was not going to hit 10000 around 8pm). :p Today won't be as good. I have been in a car most of the day....

All done for today! Gettin' psyched for tomorrow...

I just wanted to come back to say I did KPC, abs first then the rest of the workout. Woohoo, the abs were talkin' to me. I'm so glad I did them first!

Jann, I realized that I forgot to answer your question about the pullups. I got an Iron Gym 4-in-1 attachment. It goes over the door, there's no drilling to attach it, and you can do use it for pullups/chinups, pushups, dips and situps. I really like it! (Got mine at Target for $29.97).

Magnolia, I couldn't agree with you about the stretches. I felt so much better yesterday and didn't have any DOMS last night or this morning. I will definitely not skip it again.

"See" you all tomorrow - I'm going to preview disc #3 tonight because I didn't do so great on the 1RM for this one! ;)

Good evening all,

I just finished basic step. Didn't do as much because knee bothered me. When I sat down I couldn't extend leg in front of me, but could stand up straight. Seemed to be knee cap. I iced for a couple of hours and was good enough for a mild basic step. Not Cathe's version, mine. This is first time I opened dvd.

I forgot kpc had abs also. I'll probably wait until Saturday for next abs.

Joan

Joan I am sorry about your knee. I am glad you were able to do some of the Basic Step. :D

Tricia Sound like a good tool. Have fun with Disk 3 :D

I did Disk 3 this morning. I am going on record saying I REALLY do no like wall squats....:p My legs are toast!
Numbers are still holding good. Today will be a good test. I am going to the movies with DS to see Wolverine. Taking some sugarless gum along! ;)

Have a good one!

Hello, Joan, Jann, Beth and Tricia!

Jann, I finished the Push Phase this morning. I had to buy a pair of 20 lb. dumb bells last week. Now I'm using them for most of the exercises. I am thinking of ordering those pace weights Joan had mentioned some time ago. I am definitely a lot stronger, but after wo this morning, my muscles were still shaking!

Joan, sorry to hear about your knee. I find myself going for the ice pack way more often than I used to. But I think Basic Step is still one of my favorite cardios.

Hi, there, Beth and Tricia. Hope you are both doing great.

Have a great afternoon!

Disc #3 - Check!

Hi Joan, Jann, Beth and Magnolia,

I did disc 3 today, although I really had to push to get started. My legs were sore after running yesterday! Not surprisingly, I actually felt better after doing the warm-up and first three exercises. I found with the legs, I had a hard time completing all of my 1RM tests, so today was more of a guessing game. (I did take Cathe's advice on the plate exercises, and did them without weights for the most part.) Those bonus burn exercises at the end were hilarious - I did most of them, but I had my legs nowhere near as high as Cathe & the girls! (Funny that the guys didn't want to opt for that part, huh?). I know my husband wouldn't want to do that, either!

Tomorrow is DrillMax premix #3 (scrambled cardio blast) plus Ab Circuits Weight/Plates Abs. For some reason, I never loved DrillMax so I'll be looking forward to the abs.....Until I actually do them!

Have a great evening, everyone!

Good evening all,

I just finished disc 3.:D I can do paperplate lunges with weights, but regular lunges I have to be so careful with knee I don't use weights. I had to take 2 or 3 pauses with this disc that I didn't need first time thru. I was more tired than usual but I didn't want to put off legs. I hate doing them but I need it the most.

Tomorrow I have Elliot for overnight. Ds and dil will be out of town.

I've never done drillmax before so that should be interesting. I may switch day off if I run out of time.

Magnolia, I'm impressed. I have 20lb dumbbells but have never used them. I think it will be a lot of months before I get close to that.

Way to go!

Joan I thought that the paperplate moves seem to be easier than I thought they would be. Now those wall squats I did not enjoy. I guess I need to up my leg work.

Good job Tricia! Pushing through even when you really don't want to.

No bodymax for me today. I am planning on some serious stretching and DOR.

Happy Mother's Day!

Good Morning & Happy Mother's Day to the Mom's among us (And Grandma's!).

Sorry I didn't get here yesterday to log in, DH took my oldest riding on our quad so it was me and the twins all day. It's interesting doing your workout with two 4 year olds trying to "help"! Especially on the bounding, my son was racing me back and forth. And my little girl felt compelled to tell me that Cathe was throwing her ball higher than me....Ah, youth.

It was another day of really talking myself into doing my workout - I decided to go one drill at a time, and if I didn't feel like going anymore, I would try again later. But, I made it through. BTW, Joan - did you get your first Drillmax in yesterday? I'm wondering how you liked it? I have a love/hate feeling about this workout!

And Jann, I totally hear you about those wall squats in disc #3. I couldn't get into a good position since I was in the hallway off my living room trying to see how she was doing them. I think next time, I'll use my front door! So I didn't get a good feel for them. I also did the Weight/Plate Ab Circuits workout, although maybe half the reps. Those weights make a HUGE difference! I'm looking forward to taking a rest today (if you can call it a rest day, since I have a sick girl here today!!)

Have a wonderful day, everyone!! Can't wait to see how we do this week!
