50 and over week of July 26 check in

Good afternoon all,

Just getting us started. I did a cardio substitute I don't have 4daysplit.
I did xtrain Express the 10-10-10. I didn't do the weight just double of some of the other. I had never opened this 2 disc set. I actually thought the wo was great and really got heartrate up. BUT later that night my knees, ankles and back hurt.

I am going right now to do discs 29 and 30. I will have to switch the Monday-Tuesday wo but then I would be caught up.

Hi Joan,

I also missed my Disc 30 workout on Friday, so I have to rearrange my upcoming week to do it. Today I did the 4DS Higher Impact Step. Keep forgetting what a good workout this is! I really didn't utilize these much since they've come out, only using the cardio portion after I took about two weeks of using them exclusively. BUT, I'm going to revisit them once STS is done. (I'm going to miss this series once we finish - which is going to happen so soon!). I can't believe we've been at this for almost 3 months now!

I also did the Ab Circuits Stability ball Abs today. I did it alittle differently today, by doing my ab work first, and I noticed quite a difference in my stamina. For instance, I was able to attempt those split leg pikes!! I've never been able to do that, so I'm going to do all my ab work at the beginning for the next month to see how that goes.

I'm thinking of trying the Abs Diet Quickstart Plan from Women's Health, has anyone heard of this or checked it out? Mainly for the menu's, because Cathe covers the workout part! I'll be doing more research this week and let you know what I decide. Could be the thing I need....

Now, who was it that did two STS tapes on the same day? How did that go for you? I may try this tomorrow if I feel good after disc 30 and get 31 in as well - We'll see.

Good evening, Tricia, Magnolia, Jann, Beth and Cathy,

I just finished disc 29 and 30 and 1.5 miles on treadmill. Tomorrow will be some cardio but I don't know what yet.

I think I embarrass dh. Because of Tricia I was doing Plie Squats with alternating hand with 35lb dumbbell in the middle of Target. I can use 35lb for that but wasn't sure I would use for anything else. I don't want to spend any money right now so I didn't buy it yet.

Total calorie burn for today so far is 2019 calories so it should be about 2050 by midnight. I just wish it were more.

I haven't got to my workout yet, just wanted to say Good Morning. :)

Joan You amaze me... 29,30 and treadmill work. :eek: When I finished disc 30 on Friday all I wanted was a massage! :eek:

Tricia I so, so agree. I can't believe we are almost done this rotation. :confused:

Well, looking at disc 31 90%. I am going to make sure someone is around to help out if I get stuck under that darn barbell -- ;)
 
Disc 31 Done! WOWOWO I had my DS sitting close by. He helped me with my first rep to be sure I could do it and the last set... :D Also was nice having him around moving the barbell from the rack to the floor. :p
My shoulders are feeling it more than my chest or back. That is my weakest body part.

Hi, Y'all.

I hope you all had a great weekend. The wedding was beautiful, it was just the traveling that really stank! We were supposed to take off at 8:25 on Friday night, but there were so many delays that it turned out to be 11:30!! We finally got to the hotel at about 2:30 am Saturday. The weekend went well until yesterday when it was time to come home. The flight was supposed to take off at 5:50 pm. It did and everything was fine until the weather in NY forced us to have to land at Wilkes Barre, PA. We sat on the ground there for a while, then flew back to LaGuardia in NY and landed about 10:30! We got home last night about 12:00. I had to get up early this morning to sing at a funeral so my friend could take a couple of days off, so I am having a major jet-lag day. As a result, I have decided to start my workouts tomorrow.

Joan, you have my respect for doing plie squats with 35 lbs.! :D

Jann, Beth, Tricia and Cathy, hope everything is going well.

hi ya'll, well, i did disc 16 this am. i really like the back-off sets. then i did cardio from 4-day LIS again, love that workout. i did the last section 2x, the one where you do all 3 step combos. then , i worked this afternoon. i am really tired. cardio for me tomorrow.

I just finished Disc #30, yep, at 10:15 pm....am I crazy? I'll be wide awake now! Oh, well. I couldn't NOT do it, I don't want to get too far off schedule, ya know? Tomorrow I'll do LIS and Ab Circuits.

Joan, I laughed so hard at the picture of your DH in Target while you did those plies!! (You humble me to say I've inspired you, BTW.) I'm in awe that you did that amazing workout -two STS discs, PLUS treadmill!! Now who's the superwoman?

Magnolia, I'm sorry to hear your travel was so convoluted. I'm flying in August, hopefully it'll be a nice boring flight! And then to have to come home and sing at a funeral, ugh. (What songs did you do? Anything I know?) If it was Mass, possibly The Lord Is My Shepherd, There is nothing I shall want.... Glad to hear the wedding went well, though.

Hey Cathy, I remember really liking the back off sets, also. I'll be doing LIS tomorrow and can't wait - I really like the cardio from that series! Well, except Bootcamp which I love to hate!

Jann, I was wishing today my DH was spotting me - my 1RM called for 30 lbs. on TRICEPS - WHAT???? I tried one and nearly fell over sideways, said "Nope, that's a miscalculation!" Last week it called for 21, now it's at 30 - how is that 5%? Need to refigure that!

I wasn't going to do anything but then grabbed Biggest Loser Cardio Max. I don't think I would do it very often.

Magnolia I can't believe you had a problem with both flights. It seems so unfair to have problems both directions. We've been very lucky with flights. I can only remember 1 flight that was delayed 8 hours. Of course dh has airline problems when he flies without me. He leaves for Germany Sunday so I hope there are no delays. The flight is 8 hours without any problems.

I haven't been using barbell only dumbbells. Disc 31 is tomorrow,
My flat bench press is with 20lb dumbbells. The dumbbell weights in this section are only 17-21lbs. I don't know what I could lift with barbell.

Off to bed I have to babysit tomorrow.

Good morning,

Jann get out your happy dance.

I forgot to post my results last night so I put them under success stories.

I have really been unhappy with my weight loss because I have been working so hard. I know I don't use many calories but still.

I finally measured myself.

I have lost 2" on waist, 2" on hips and 1 1/4" on both thighs.:D:D Yea STS.

That is wonderful! I could tell I have really tightened up too even though it isn't a great pound loss. I am at least one whole size smaller!!

Magnolia- I finally found the skinny cow!! What a treat! Now the challange will be not to eat too many but save them for a treat!

Did the Kick Max today--I am taking a week long break from weights then starting meso 3 for the second time. Are you all going to go around again?

Cathy, I don't remember the back off sets but I guess I will when I start meso 3 next week. If you start this over, you have to tell me if its just me or if it seems completely new again.

Jann, are you getting good results? I think meso 3 was tough on my joints too-the gloves helped. I will go to the gym for this round where they have the racks--

I am also doing a pilates mat workout everyday (it takes 20-30 min) and that is really stretching my muscles. For me it means instead of the thick chunky thighs, the weights are doing their thing and the pilates is elongating the muscle- I feel much better!

Tricia- how is the ab diet coming along? What does the day's meals look like?

I hope all of you had a great day today. It was okay here. At least I slept in a little and feel much less tired (after my workout, that is)

Tricia, the funeral was a mass. I sang "On Eagles' Wings" instead of "The Lord is My Shepherd." I also sang the Schubert "Ave Maria," and a really pretty one that's kind of new, "Fly Like A Bird." The music director at our church was my voice teacher for several years, and we have become very good friends. I consider that she asks me to sub for her a real honor. Besides, they pay me.:D

YAY, JOAN!! :D Good for you on the great results. BTW, I think a large part of the problem we had traveling was that we flew a smaller airline that has fewer and smaller airplanes. If we had flown a larger airline, it would probably have been different. I'm sure your DH will have a safe flight.

Beth, glad you found the Skinny Cow. I think all their ice cream products are wonderful. I just bought some more today--having a real ice cream craving this summer.

Cathy, you are amazing! I have enough trying to keep up with one workout, let alone the ones you mentioned!

Hey, Jann! Hope you are doing well. I was just thinking about you when I was doing Push Circuit 1 today. The muscles in my triceps and biceps were still shaking after I had finished and put my weights away! :eek: I think every time I have to do squats for the rest of my life, I will hear Chalene in my head shouting, "STICK YOUR BUTT OUT!"

howdy, i did "Better Burn, Better Buns" (tracie long). kind of an interval, functional, med. ball workout. good workout. i love tracie's workouts.

well magnolia, i don't think i am. sunday i was so tired i could hardly move. i just feel like i need to get more cardio in. i just cannot get rid of this stuff around my middle, it is so discouraging.

beth, the back-off sets are in meso 2, and this is my 2nd time doing STS, and yes, it does all seem new. i'm surprised at how much i had forgotten.

but, i love it as much asthe first time i did it.

I just finished disc 31. I guess I won't do the ab work until the next rotation since I have only done twice in the three months.:eek: I think this is the first time my chest has stayed the same while hips and waist reduced.

Beth I can feel how much stronger I have gotten. Remember I was still recuperating from surgery when I started. My muscle memory has jumped right back in place. I don't think I could have done Meso 3 with out my weight rack. Picking that barbell up from the floor and laying down with it would not have worked for me.

Tricia my son was kidding me a bit about the weight of the barbell when spotting me (hes 23). Very supportive though.

Cathy I have all of Tracie's workouts. When I did the TLT/Firm rotation I lost 2 inches from my middle and it has stayed off! Loved that rotation!

Yesterday I did 2 miles on the treadmill and yard work. Today its disc 21 Plyo legs -- gonna be sweating today!! :)
 
WOW THAT IS great, joan. i so wish i would lose something. anyway,
today was disc 17, legs. THEN, FOR SOME INSANE REASON , i did the firm's power half hour to get some extra cardio. which i thought, "it is only 30min." well, it is a tough 30min. and lots of lower body. so, i am FRIED! and i was already sore from yesterday's workout. hope i can walk tomorrow.

Cathy, I can't remember if Power Half Hour is one of Kelsie Daniels' workouts or not, but if it is, that would explain how it can be a killer half hour. She's tough and I think her workouts are the very best of the more current Firms.

Jann, I love the dancing smilies--so great!! It's great to hear how you've managed to get back your strength. Good work! :D

Joan, it sounds as if you're making the kind of progress we really want. Good for you. ;)

I did a premix from Low Max today, it's a new workout for me, and I am trying to learn it one premix at a time. Love it!:eek:

I did it! I got my workout in!! woohoo! Plyo legs. I had to modify those butt kicks over the board and those one legged jumps and those one legged thrust... other wise I was doing it!! -- glad its done. :D

HI Everybody,

I've been buried doing paperwork and have not been able to work out yesterday or today. I hope tomorrow is better!! Just wanted to jump on and say I haven't disappeared, and I will be getting back on track tomorrow!!

I'll have to read up on what everyone's been doing, so I'll "see" you tomorrow!
