Hi everyone,

I got another late wo in last night. I did Cardio Hits Power Max and 2 miles with Leslie.

Jann I don't know which was incorrect but the 2 mile dvd was 1600 steps and 140 calories. I was completely instep with tape but it sure didn't seem long enough for 2 miles. It is a mindless wo which I need sometimes, but I sure wish I could turn off her talking and just have music.

Beth I love how active you were on vacation. I want to plan activities for Elliot so she grows up active. I spent most of my growing up years reading.

Today was rest day.

Joan

Hello!!

Joan, I grew up reading also and playing no sports- I think I am getting ADD as I get older or something- or maybe it is just that it is soooooo hard to stay in shape these days. Anyway, I was thinking that 2 miles should have earned you more calories- Are you sure that is right? And did I see that you were doing a workout last week at 2 in the morning?? Whoa!

Today was a rest day for me too and a travel day. Good diet except for McDonald's new cafe mocha at 3 pm along I95. They have so many signs up that I decided to splurg (300 calories). I think Sunday is going to be my eat whatever I want day.

Hello to Jann, Magnolia, Tricia and Cathy!!

Hi guys! I had a great day. I did eat what ever I wanted today :p -- It's my birthday! I had turtle cheese cake -- yum-O!!
DOR for me.

hi ya'll, i started meso 2 today, disc 13. great workout. but, why, why, why do my hips get bigger rather than smaller while i do STS??? shouldn't they be shrinking with these hard workouts?
cathy

Back again,

Jann Happy birthday:D-Do what ever you want today. Stop tomorrow.

Beth I don't think it was 2 miles but my calorie usage is always way less than treadmill or Cathe's wo manager says. I use the armband from gowearfit. While I hate that it says I use from 1400-2000 calories per day(usually 1400-1600 calories), since I'm not losing weight I think it's pretty accurate. I have been averaging about 1500 calories eaten per day. I usually eat 1200 calories with 2 higher days per week to get that average.
Cardio Hits power max burned 353 calories.

Cathy I haven't measured yet but I don't think hips are supposed to increase. Are you sure you just didn't hold tape tighter 1st time.

DROP 19LBS IN 7 DAYS

Why do I always fall for the headlines. This was in a magazine about Jillian's Master your Metabolism. The fine print. Contestants on the biggest loser who have followed this plan have lost between 12 and 19 pounds in a single week. So if I gain 250 lbs and wo 7 hours a day I could lose 19lbs in a week but then would be 231lbs heavier.

Diet
1/2c berries
3-1c servings dark leafy greens(spinach, arugula, dandelion greens)
2-1c servings of cruciferous veg(broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, bok choy)
5-1/2c servings of fruit and veg. that are orange, yellow, purple or red
such as carrots, sweet potatoes, mangoes, purple olives, tomatoes
Some garlic, onioons, chives and shallots
1-1/4c serving nuts/seeds (this is 1 serving of 1/4 cup)
1to3-1/2c servings of legumes(chickpeas and red and black beans)
3to5-4oz servings of eggs, lean meats and poultry
2T of healthy oil
1to 3 servings of dairy
3 servings of whole grains(oatmeal, brown rice, couscous and whole wheat pasta.)

I haven't added calories up for this days worth of food yet. I guess I should try eating like this for a week. If I lose even 5lbs I would be willing to buy her book,(or is it a dvd?)
Joan

Thank you Joan!
I have that book. I have not opened it yet. I got it because I really enjoy her workouts. I keep saying I am going to read it. I am reading New Moon of the Twilight series. These darn teen age book are sucking me in lately.

Disc 28 back and chest done. I will be feeling this one the rest of the day. I had such big plans today of getting so many things done. I can't seem to kick myself in the butt to do them. :(

Have a good one ladies!

Hi,

I am going to try the diet. You really need to measure and make good choices. I think the calories are between 1600 and 2100. I had a peach this morning and 1/2 peach was 1/2 cup, so a peach was 2 servings. In the past I would have put it down as one serving. I wonder if her book has you eating most veg raw? A cup of cooked cauliflower is not the same calories as a cup of raw caulflower.

Jann loved your happy birthday wish to Cathe.

Sunday was a rest day but I did get 1 mile Leslie and 1 mile Denise Austin.
This was different Leslie - it seemed faster. It was 950 steps and 90 calories burned in 15 minutes. Denise was 1083 steps and 72 calories burned in 12 minutes.

I'll be back later after I finish disc 28.

Joan

Happy Birthday, Jann!! How cool is that, to share your birthday with our Cathe?? Have a great day!

Well, I'm gearing up to do Disc 28 in a few minutes. But I wanted to say that this weekend I did a 1/2 hour Run/Walk on the treadmill Saturday night. Yesterday I did the Hardcore Extreme Hi/Lo Intervals (minus 2 Imax intervals to cut down on time!). Once again the sweat was flying!

BBL to log in about today and chat,

ok, don't know what i was thinking today. i did cardio fusion in its entirety and i thought , "oh, it is on like 70m or a bit more" how hard could it be??????? well, i have one thing to say! ooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't think i'm gonna be able to walk tomorrow. apparantly, i have never done the whole thing. the 2nd segment of body max 2 is VERY HARD. i actually had to stop a couple times and suck in air. now, tell me that is not HIIT training! surely it is. you go til you can't breathe and then recover, right? well, i could not breath. what a tough workout. my feet are killing me. think i'm too old for that one.:)
cathy

Hi, Y'all.

Did Basic Step today. This is my cardio week, but I decided I'm not going to kill myself. If it's nice, I might get in a 3-mile power walk or two.

Joan, 19 lbs. in one week? Well, if you're successful, I certainly want to know about it. Anyway, best of luck.

Jann--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! YAY!! I hope you had a great celebration. Anyway, I didn't know you shared a birthday with Cathe, but that's great!

Beth, I am firmly convinced (and perhaps a little too firmly convinced) that we should have one forbidden treat every once in a while. Life is just too short, and I think it keeps us from feeling deprived. To me, that's important.

Cathy, I hope this thing about your hips is just an optical illusion. It's how the jeans fit that really tells the story.

Tricia, hi, Wonder Woman--how you keep up with all that activity is amazing to me. I suffer from ARD (Age Related Decline), trying to keep that at bay is another consideration when you reach my age. Anyway, fantastic, keep it up!

Ladies, have a great night!

Magnolia

Hi Beth, Tricia, Magnolia, Cathy and Jann,

I just finished disc 28. I did bring out the 20lb dumbbells.

I tried the diet today. It seems I only had the low calorie choices on hand. Total calories was 1195. The only thing I didn't have was 3c spinach and 1/2 c red or black beans. I'm hungry.:( If I get a chance I would like to see how it does on Cathe's nutrition software.

Joan

Good Morning, Friends!

Well, I just finally got to read the thread. Magnolia, I laughed out loud - thanks for the Wonder Woman reference, although I sure don't feel like her, I will graciously accept your compliment!! I think I keep up with my life simply because it's what needs to be done.

We had a bridal issue this weekend with the dresses - poor DS! She got a call Friday at the end of the day to say the dresses would be Claret, not Red....and that the dress shop owner went ahead and placed the order. So we spent the weekend going through lots of wedding websites, looking for a different dress that we could get that would be comparable to the other. Shop closed early on Saturday, so she couldn't talk to them until yesterday! Yikes! She left them a message that it wasn't acceptable in Claret, and to stop the order. They went in yesterday and got that order cancelled, found a different dress that's very similar and can be ordered on short notice - Bridezilla averted! That's why I did treadmill Saturday, I was running away from all those website images....

Cathy, Big High Fives to you for doing Cardio Fusion - that's a serious workout! And yes, I think it's very similar to HIIT.

Jann, I love Jillian Michael's, her 30 day Shred workout is a nice, tough one if you've never tried it. But I don't do so good with Fitness Books. I love to read, but these just bore me and I can never finish them. I'd love to hear how it goes is anybody does the diet, though.

Oh, yeah - I did do disc #28 yesterday, that's getting to be some ridiculous weight on deadlifts....I was glad to see them all filled in, so I could put that weight away! BTW, did anybody catch the editing snafu on the incline bench press? If you look at Brenda and the guy behind her (Rob?), in one shot they're on the incline, the next it's a flat bench. I found that a bit distracting, but more of a ha,ha caught a mistake instead of, boy is that annoying - ya know?

So today is MIC hi/lo with cardio quick fix, but I think I'll do The hi/lo from Step,Jump and Pump instead. MIC is not my favorite, either.

Better get going so I'll have my errands done in time to do my workout!

TTYL,

Sorry to hear about the migraine, Cathy. I get them sometimes and they stink.

Today I did Timesaver #2 workout, which has Stepblast Warmup and #3 combo, then goes into all the Hi/Lo segments from SJP. From there, we go into Bonus TS Abs, and Supersets abs. I didn't do the weight segment from SJP, so it was about 32 minutes total. I enjoyed this, even if I was huffing in the Hi/Lo part!

Hope everyone had a good day, my kids were pretty rowdy today and I'm beat! I'll see you tomorrow,

Good evening Tricia, Magnolia, Cathy, Beth and Jann,

I'm still hungry. Second day of diet. I was again under 1200 calories and didn't get the 1/2 c of beans. Maybe that would make all the difference.
I did buy some sweet potatoes and carrots today, so that may be a more filling veg. I may have to stay closer to the 1200 calories eaten because I have only been using 1500-1800 calories the last week. I did hit 2000 calories used today.

I just finished MIC and 2 miles of Leslie.

Joan

Disc 29 today. Plyo legs... 350+ calories!!
icon_eek.gif
icon_eek.gif
AND I modified a LOT. This is a wonderful workout. I am marking this one for days I want to kick it up a little. The weight work kept the ol'heart rate up there and the plyo leg routines were not bad for the knees with modifications.
BBl gotta do run some errands...

Hi, Y'all.

Sorry for being absent yesterday. It was so depressing here it just rained all day. Yuck!! Anyway, today was much better. I got up depressed, but actually getting out in the sunshine made all the difference.

Yay, Joan, on using the 20s. That's great!:D

Cathy, so sorry about the migrane. Headaches really stink! :(

Tricia, Jann & Beth, hope your day was great.

I actually did a premix from Low Max (#4 - 7). My first time with it. Loved it!!

I was feeling pretty discouraged about my own diet yesterday, too, so I went surfing online. I found this one called "Fat Loss 4 Idiots." It promised you'd lose 9 lbs. in 11 days. So I checked it out. You check off about 30 or so foods you like, and the program calculates menus for you. These menus weren't like real meals. A slice of deli turkey with a bowl of pinto beans and walnuts for breakfast? I can just see my DH going for that! He likes real meals. Anyway, I got an immediate refund on that one! I have adjusted my diet just a little from before so that I am eating a reasonable amount of carbs instead of a restricted amount.

Have a great evening, my friends.

Magnolia

IT AIN'T ABOUT THE TAPE, YA'LL , my dern shorts and jeans are gettin' tighter. it is so discouraging. i work so hard, and my hips and mid -section are increasing. i don't eat super great, but man, i don't eat that bad!

anyway, i did disc 14 and added on 4-day split LIS, cardio only. so, it is not like i am a sloth. only when i have a migraine. but, i just use it as my rest day.

well, anyway, sorry to whine. see ya'll later
cathy

Hi everyone,

Feel free to whine Cathy. I hate it when you think you're doing everything right and you still can't lose.

I have shaken up my routine since it wasn't working. I have added 1-4 miles per day of Leslie Sansone in addition to Cathe's sts rotation with cardio. This is the 3rd day of Jillian's diet. Only cheat was a 2 inch square brownie. That's the exchange for black beans isn't it?

I actually did 2 miles on treadmill instead of Leslie today. It was twice the number of steps as the tape.

I still need to do disc 29 legs. I'll bbl.

Joan

Good Morning, Everyone.

I didn't log in yesterday because we had some seriously wicked lightning last night and I don't use my computer when it's storming! Sounds like everyone has done good with the workouts so far this week. Yesterday i did Disc #29, Plyo Legs. I agree, Jann. These workouts are so great, I'm sure I'll be pulling them out even when I'm not doing an STS rotation. The way the breaks are done, these workouts just keep moving and it goes by so quick. I love that, when you don't even realize that it's coming to the end of the workout!

Hey Magnolia, I don't know what to say about the different eating/diets, etc. The last time I tried a book diet, it was South Beach two summers ago. This was great in that I lost 12 pounds in two weeks, but it was very expensive for me with a family of 5 and time consuming to plan everything. (I'm menu planning challenged, DH usually handles the cooking because he's, well, a good cook!). I mean, why subject the children to my cooking, when we can have his?? Although they're so cute when I do cook, they always give me lots of encouragement - "Good job on the supper, Mommy!".

So I'd like to try something out there that's not too time consuming to do, isn't hard for those of us challenged in the kitchen, and doesn't break the bank. Shouldn't be too hard to find, huh??!!

Hey, Joan - I've been using the treadmill more recently, myself. Not sure what's prompted that, but I do notice that I sometimes push myself more when I use it.

Cathy, I hear you about the clothes situation - I'm really not seeing a difference, although DH says he sees it in my overall tone. I want to see it in my abdomen, thank you very much!! Just don't give up, you're doing your body good each time you work out.

It's pretty yucky looking out today, so I'm really looking forward to 4DS Kickbox - this is one of my favorites (and not just because they're dressed in black and gold!). Such a great workout, in 43 minutes!

BBL - have a good day!
