Good morning,

Just getting us started. I feel like I have strep throat. Oh joy an other trip to the doctor. At least this time it will be for me. Radiation is going well. Dm only as some redness. It is annoying but not too sore. For whatever reason the pain she felt because of the position she was in during radiation is much, much less. She thinks the treatments don't take as much time lately.

Help I ate almost 3000 calories yesterday. We had two meals out. At this rate I will weigh more than I started with a year ago.

BBL with wo.

Joan

Hi everyone,

Today and yesterday are rest days for me. I'll start up again tomorrow morning .... haven't decided what workout DVD to do yet. Maybe TLT for this week.

My eating was good yesterday. As long as I keep my snacks under 200 calories I'm okay because the rest of my meals are within the calorie limits that are necessary for me to maintain any weight loss. But I'm starting to panic because my jeans are getting a little tight.

Yesterday we had 5.5 inches of snow. I had to go out last night to visit some cats...gave one an insulin shot and the other anti-seizure medication. It was a bit slippery on the roads. Had to do the same thing this morning. I'm done with the winter weather!

Linda I hear ya on the winter weather. I've seen snow thats all I need to last me until next December. :D

My eating this past week as been pretty good. I am low carbing it for 2 weeks to jump start my body. I did Cardio sculpt (Firm) I had forgotten how quickly they change equipment in that one. I had to keep stopping and rewinding. Good little workout though!

Hi Everyone!

Well, I can't say I relate to the winter weather- it is cold here but only 50 to 60. But, I can relate to the eating. I think mine is out of control again. I just feel bloated. I am going back to the low carb rotation for a while. Is it helping you Jann? I think I am doing good all day then I'll snitch some ice cream or something. Today I ate 3 pears, when I recorded that I was shocked at the carb value.

I have been doing the insanity tapes, but somewhat modified. They are intense. This week my goal is to start everymorning with 30 minutes on an incline on the treadmill before food. I hear that kickstarts the metabolism. Thats my goal- I'll let you know if it works.

Hi ladies,

Magnolia, I can see you raking out your guest room. It's my office/workout area that gets the excess when I clean the rest of the house.

Jann and Beth good luck on diet. Tomorrow is another start for me.

I recorded everything I ate but unfortunately it was 2312 calories. Besides an hour on the treadmill I was very busy today and used more calories than that-just barely.

YES! I lost 5 pounds last week!

A friend of mine said she lost 8 pounds on this diet the first week. "Crack the weight loss code" I thought - OK - I'll give it a week. I bought the newer version "Conquer the weight lost code" I walked on the treadmill for 1.5 to 2 miles every morning before breakfast. Followed a diet of 5 meals each containing protein.
Ex: Breakfast - oatmeal and hard boil egg (white only)
Snack cottage cheese
Lunch Chicken w/ salad
Snack protein shake
Dinner Salmon, broccoli and small salad.

The first 2 days were awful!! I felt sluggish and hungry. Yesterday I almost forgot to eat my snacks! This almost no carb version is only for two weeks then you add in more carbs. And eventually you can eat what ever you want. If this give me the jumpstart I need -- I can live with it for 2 weeks. :)
I don't follow her plan exactly. I don't do any of her supplements or that crystal light stuff. I take my multivitamin and I've been ok. She was a body builder and some of her thinking is a bit more extreme than I need.
OH - and nice side affect. My energy level has soared!
I think following a low carb diet and working out a bit before eating in the morning would work. :D At least it seems to be working for me.

Good morning,

I just did TLT Strength in Movement. This was the first time I have done this workout even though I've had this DVD for about a year. It was very challenging. I burned a serious amount of calories!

Jann - congrats on the weight loss!

Beth - I'm the same way with food intake. I start off really well at the beginning of the day and then around 3:00 pm I cave for an extra snack.

Since I haven't had any sugar in my system the past 2 weeks, I find that I'm feeling better and craving the good foods (i.e. fruits, vegetables, and proteins). My snacks are higher in protein which helps curb my appetite (and no more nuts in the household!).

Good morning, Ladies!

Joan, I hope it's not strep & that you are better soon. Just take care of yourself.

Jann, way to go on the wt. loss! :D That's great! ;)

I looked at Cathe's December Timesaver Rotation, and decided that I would do the workouts I actually have (to the best of my ability, that is) and then throw in a few Firms, Fit Primes and Kick Butts when I don't have Cathe's DVD for that day. So today, I decided to try the Drill Max premix. I did surprise myself, though. I did some of it, modified a lot of it, and marched in place a few times when I just couldn't handle the drill. Oddly enough, I did manage the agility drill without any modification. I'm going to keep throwing that workout in the mix until I can actually do it all.

Hope you all have a great day!

Magnolia

Good evening,

I didn't get to doctor but throat seems to be better.

Another 3 miles on treadmill. Total calories eaten 1603. Not great but better than it has been. I was hungry all day.

Exhausted today so I'm headed to bed early.

Joan

good morning!

I am up early (at least for me). I have to fill in at my husbands office for his paralegal who is having a melanoma removed. I am so inspired by you all that I am going to do the treadmill before I leave.

Jann, great news on the weight loss! :DThe book Crack the weight loss was written by a bodybuilder, Wendy Chant. My friend used to drive to Orlando to do her program once a week before the book was written. She lost a ton of weight and has kept if off for several years by the carb cycling. I tried to follow it several times but I think someone needs to tie me down at 3 pm because I can't seem to get passed that...;)

Magnolia- what are kick butts? I kept reading that as butt kicks, which shaun t does in the Intensity- that is when you are running in place and you exagerate the heels coming back and kicking you butt (something I haven't done since high school PE but am trying to master again}

Well- off to treadmill! Have a nice day!

I read that Wendy has passed away. She had cancer. :( I am doing the diet with a couple of other gals. One of them started two weeks before me and has lost 18 pounds. She LOVES cardio though, me not so much. I am trying to get the hang of the carb cycling. It's tough. I am on my second week. The first 2 weeks are the toughest. (At least I hope so;)) Yesterday I was hungry and I cheated. I hope today is better. :)

Off to the treadmill myself!

Joan I am glad your throat is getting better. 1603 calories is pretty good! :)

Magnolia I did Steamin' Cardio kick butt yesterday afternoon. I like Heidi. Back in the day when "chats" were big. She used to chat a lot with us online. I saved the December rotation. I thought it looked like something I would like to do. Good Job on Drill Max... it's a tough one! :)

Beth Kick Butt is a series of workouts that Anna Benson put together. http://www.fitnessfavorites.com/Anna_Benson_Workouts.php

Linda No sugar for 2 weeks? That's wonderful. I am craving fruit like crazy. I think I can have some on Wednesday...:D

Now, really off to get on the treadmill! :p

Good morning,

I just finished doing TLT Finding Your Core. Again first time I've done this workout. It was really hard....some of the movements were awkward for me and I had to concentrate really hard to make sure I maintained proper form for fear I could hurt myself (i.e. knees, hamstrings).

Jann - I have the Kick Butt series and Heidi is my favorite.

You all are doing great with focusing on your calorie intake. It helps keep me motivated.

Hi, Y'All!

Jann, I love Steamin' Cardio, but it is tough! I think it is one of the toughest of that series of DVDs. I do like Heidi a whole lot, but Keli Robert is great, too.

I was very happy that the 30% off DVD for this week was the Pyramid workouts. Been waiting on that one! I have the workouts on VHS, but DVD is so much nicer. Anyway, I ordered right away, and since DH is struggling for ideas, I told him and said that I would just put the DVD in his office when it arrives, and he can wrap it up and put it under the tree for me. He liked the idea.

There was a long rehearsal last night for our Christmas Concert which is this weekend. We're singing selections from the Bach Magnificat and Handel's Messiah. We have four professional soloists (the baritone is fabulous!), a string quartet and two trumpets. It's going to be very exciting. As a result, the adrenalin was pumping and I didn't get to sleep until midnight, then had to get up at 6 this morning to lead singing at a special mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I'm exhausted, so I am taking a nap this afternoon sometime. Rest day! Back to the workouts tomorrow, when I have rested enough.

Have a great afternoon & evening, everyone!

Magnolia

Get some rest Magnolia! My goodness. To bad you can't youtube some of your concert. I would love to hear/see it! It took me a while to warm up to Keli but once I did. I like her. The Upper body pyramid DVD is my MOST favorite workout of Cathe's. :)

Linda I love the TLT workouts. I used to do Jenn's all the time as my "go to" when I had to talk myself into a workout. :) Are you getting Tracie's LONGevity series?

I got a little over 2 miles on the treadmill. Then I did some weight work for my upper body.
I have to start thinking about baking cookies, I have been putting it off.

No workout yet today. It's suppose to be a rest day so I just might take it. :) Plus I already ate breakfast...

I didn't get to those cookies yet. I always taste them as I bake them -- I just love warm cookies and they are only warm when I bake them.
I also have to get to the Chex mix my youngest son says it's not Christmas until he smells the Chex mix! :D

Have a good one ladies!

Good morning, Y'all!

I did The Firm's Tight Buns & Killer Legs (Kelsie Daniels--one of my favorite instructors). This was the first time I had done this one, so it was tricky for me, but really good. Also, it includes a fair amount of balance work, which I need, but which is difficult considering the floor where I have to work out is uneven (adding an extra challenge!). It's only 30 min., and that's about all I have time for today. I didn't notice until too late that there's a bonus core workout included. Will add that one on next time I do this wo. Anyway, it's a definite keeper.

Jann, I know what you mean about cookies. I have an ancient Southern Tea Cake recipe (my grandmother taught me how to make these when I was very small), and I always make a big tin of them for a friend of mine. It will be time to bake those after the concert.

The weather is really yucky here today! Rain and wind, guess I will go to the grocery store tomorrow!

Stay well and safe, everyone.

Magnolia

hi everyone, i'm still alive.LOL! just been busy. well, talking about calories, my dil has lost 17#'s on weight watchers, so i am gonna try it. i have been doing it for 2 days and i seem to like it. i like to have everything mapped out fo rme. it is easier for me. the points are easier to count than calories, imo.

so, anyone here do or done WW? i cna use all the advice you can give me. i'm not going to the meetings. my dil is just coaching me.

as far as workouts, i was off sun & mon. had grandkids, then i did the firm's cardio dance fusion yesterday, and today jiggle free buns, w/30m lower body power moves added.

believe it or not. it is even cold down here. no snow, but it is gonna be 25 tonite. that is cold for here. and it was like 22 less than a week ago. that is also really cold for this early in the year. we don't usually get really cold til jan/feb.

Good evening ladies,

I still have a cold and headache. I've had headache since Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It is not severe but annoying. It makes it hard to concentrate. So not much work is getting done. I think Elliot also is not feeling well and it is hard to give her any time outs when I know how she feels. Today she threw her ice cream cone on the floor. (before she had one bite) Her only answer is no. Which meant no nap today. I needed it as bad as she did.

I did count calories yesterday-1274 and a 1 1/2 miles on treadmill.

Today I ate 1290 calories and don't think I feel like doing any exercise.

I have fallen so far behind in my accounting work that I asked dil to ask her parents to visit Monday-Wed. before Christmas to babysit. They are both retired. And both in their 50's. They always come Christmas eve and leave Christmas morning. They only live a couple of hours away. Fortunately? I looked bad enough that dil called them right away. They agreed to come Tues and Wed and her sister will take Elliot on Monday.

I think I only eat carbs so your diet would be hard on me. Ok mostly eat carbs. Do you think that is my problem?

Magnolia I would love to hear concert also.

Cathy I know ww is healthy. I think any diet you can follow is a good one.

Snow flurries here didn't even make it to the ground but temperature is going to be in the teens. I hope it doesn't last long.

Joan

Cathy, I tried Weight Watchers. I think it is a great diet and it worked for a lot of my friends, but I seem to have stubborn weight issues. For me, the points did not matter if I was eating things that contained white sugar and flour. I know technically, it is supposed to be calories in and calories out, but….The only diet that has really worked for me, it's similar to what Jann is doing, i.e. the low-carb high carb cycling. Which brings me to a question for Jann.

Jann, do you know how many calories you were eating on those days that you were eating low-carb? I think if you put in those low-carb days into Weight Watchers it lines up to their core eating program, except with more control.

Magnolia, I wish I could hear your concert too. Maybe somebody could upload it to YouTube.

Joan, I think you have boundless energy, so if I do not think you should feel bad about being behind. I say take the help when you can get it.:D

Well have a good day everyone!
