50 and over week of Aug 30 check in

Hi everyone,

I decided I needed to start a new week.:p

Mother does have papilloma virus but that can range from warts to fast growing tumors. They don't have lab test back yet so we don't know what variation she has. Another appt sometime this week.

Yesterday I cleaned house for dil and son. Elliot was so good and helped me clean until I waited too long for nap (not later than usual but she must have needed to sleep earlier) She started crying and could not stop. When she cries she can't talk so you don't even know what she wants. It is very frustrating.

Today we went to our favorite winery. It used to be so nice to take a picnic and buy their wine. Now you can't take food in you have to buy the high calorie junk they sell. The cake was good.:eek:

I only walked 30 minutes on treadmill but that was better than nothing.

Where is everyone?

Magnolia, I know wo makes a person feel better but how do you get yourself to do it? I don't know how to automatically make myself exercise every day.

I did start meso 3 again today. Just finished disc 25. I used the weight that I ended the program with so I know I will hurt tomorrow.

Joan good going on getting back into meso 3!! That is a tough 4 weeks!

Magnolia I have a bit of depression here and there. I am glad you have found a solution to pull you out of it! You are a very strong lady!

I have not looked at my rotation yet this morning. Need to get going on that. Have a good one ladies!

Joan, I don't have any magic answers for that. Sometimes, I "just do it." But my most convincing argument to myself is that if I work out, I sleep soundly. I hate tossing and turning at night, so that is often a big motivator. I also suffer from depression, and there is no drug that can make you feel better without side effects than a good workout. So if I'm down, I get up and do something, even if it's just a walk. I think you just have to make yourself get up and get going most of the time. Sometimes I put on workout clothes. Once I am wearing them, there's no turning back.

Today I'm doing a Low Max premix, and an ab workout. Check back with you later.

Back again! I did Premix 4 - 7 of Low Max. I thought I was going to add abs & an extra stretch. HAH!!!!:rolleyes: I love Cathe because she kills us, but it's worth it.

Hello my workout friends. I'm going to try to be more available online this week, let's hope it works out that way!! It was a weird week last week with the twins starting school Weds., then having Thursday off and going back Friday....Now we are truly on a regular school schedule!

My sweet DH has me on a strange mish-mosh of a workout program. He found a program in the September issue of Fitness "Drop a Jean Size in 4 Weeks!" and so I'm doing that. (Several Cardio workout options, as well as an all-over body toning workout.) You can check it out at www.fitnessmagazine.com/jeansvideo if you want. I'm also doing the Core workouts from the Abs Diet startup at Women's Health.com which I've talked about before. He wants me to focus on cardio, so I may do a 30 minute morning and 30 minute evening workout. Talk about motivation - I have to get fitted for that darn dress by the 9th so I can have it back in time! The kids love it, though - they cheer me on when I'm on the treadmill!

Friday I did a Gaiam Pilates workout and didn't get to cardio. Was not too happy, but then Saturday I didn't get to do anything!! So yesterday I did 30 Run/Walk from the Jeans workout, the Core workout from Abs Diet and also a Karen Voight mat routine (From YogaSculpt.) She's so good at making sure you know where you're supposed to feel the movement - and makes you hold it FOREVER sometimes!!

Joan, I saw what you wrote about how do you get yourself to do the workout. I'll tell you what's worked for me. Last winter I just could not get motivated, period. But I decided on a rotation (for accountability) and told myself that I'd at least do the warm-up. If I did that and wasn't feeling it, I could stop. No questions asked. What I found was that most times, I didn't want to have to put everything away after getting it out only for the warmup!! And if I teetered on the fence, I did the first segment, and etc., etc. Try that next time - it may help.

Magnolia - I love the way Cathe kills us, too! We are gluttens for punishment, but we love it.

disc 28 today. super duper workout!!!! this is the 7 rep one. love those 7 reps. LOL! here are my wts i used:

flat bench 53
bb row 60
ch fly 24
1 arm row 34
incline bench 50
deadlift 60
incline fly 23
horiz. row 29

had a great workout. the last rep was tough on all of them,so that is good. did extended stretch, which felt VERY good after all the riding i did this weekend.

Hi Ladies!

I have been AWOL for awhile so I enjoyed reading what I missed. Joan, I hope you mother is ok. Magnolia, I can relate to the feeling the blues days.:(:( I think everyone suffers those low days sometimes. I do what you do-- just put one foot in front of the other until it passes. Exercise really helps- the problem is, if you stop doing it, it is hard to start again when you don't feel like it. I agree with Tricia in that having a plan, and the rotation really helps- it helps having you all on this board to be accountable to.

I had another three days of pilates last week for the training and my test is at the end of September- so I am planning on nothing but pilates and running for the next month-- I want to pump up the cardio after STS-- When is everyone starting the next STS rotation?

Tricia, I enjoy reading about you husband being your coach- a built in personal trainer- what a luxury!!

Cathy, are you still melting down there?
Jann, what is LD and how do you do the facebook thing? I just set up a facebook but not sure what to put on it-- well TTYL

Haven't done a wo yet.

LD is Labor Day.

Next doctor's appt is Tuesday at 2:00. They are only going to give us the results. Since they told mother on Friday she would probably need surgery, I wish they would just get everything scheduled. And not during nap time.

Back again,

I decided to try something short. I just finished basic step.

My problem is not finishing a wo once I start. Equip is always out and ready And sitting in front of me, somedays I just can't get started.

HI all!

I couldn't face BootCamp today so I pulled out one of my old favorites -- it's one of Tracie Long Matthews TLT - Strength in Movement. I love this workout. I know it works me in a good way. It is not a kick butt workout but, I feel so good after doing it. :D

Joan This is one way I make myself workout when I really don't feel like I want to. I pull a workout out that I know I love and will feel good afterward. Do you have any workouts that you know you will feel good afterward? How is your Mother handling things through this process?

Magnolia I have had my workout cloths on all day some days - :p That's a good one too!

I am getting a massage today. My doctor told me that I have some adhesion's from surgery and the best way to get the kinks worked out is through massage. It's a medical massage. I have never had this done before. I hope it dose not hurt to much - :confused:
 
Hi Everyone!

So far the day has been a total "not happening". The diet went down the tubes with junk food that my son bought yesterday- I usually don't touch that stuff but I couldn't stop snaking today- and -no exercise. I'm still in the clothes though-- must be contagious

I am going to take Jann's advice and just do something:confused:

Jann- how was the massage? I joined Cathes facebook but still don't see the coupon.

I gave up on the running thing and decided instead to do low max-- even running too often hurts the joints- better to mix up the cardio maybe.

Hi, Y'All.

I joined Cathe's Facebook, too. Never did Facebook until this morning, and my friends are turning up everywhere (even people I went to high school and undergrad school with! Even my bf from high school & one of her sons!) I told my DH that I need to get a decent pic of myself this weekend for this chat and now for Facebook.

I did Pack Max today. I love traveling, but I surely do hate packing! But this cruise is really going to be fun. I've got wo clothes & shoes packed, as well as evening clothes. Looking forward to all the fun.

Cathy, I'm jealous, I've never been on a cruise but it sounds like a lot of fun.

Jann I wish I could say there was a wo I loved, but I would be lying. I feel better when I do any of them.

If we start STS on Sept. 21 Thanksgiving is the second off week. If we start on Sept 14 we would be done before Christmas. I'm afraid we will be done with this round of STS before we even get STS Cardio. I'll be ready Jan 11 to start STS round 3.

Mother does have breast cancer but it is very small and prognosis is excellent. (100% at five years-at 83 she wants them to promise she'll even be around in 5 years.) She is deciding between partial and full mastectomy. I have to deal with all the relatives that act like this is a death sentence. Fortunately, mother understands it is not that bad and is pretty upbeat.

Magnolia Facebook seems to bring all the oldies out of the woodwork! :D Can't wait to see you!

Joan - family -- been there! Keep to your Mothers wishes. Prayers for you both!! Hmmm - Is there a type of exercise to you seem to like more than another? Do you like a full body workout, splits, just cardio, just weights?

I am really having a hard time keeping up with working out. Life has really been in the way. Nothing to report yet today. :(
