50 and Over: ::::Thursday::::::::!

Good Morning:

Well, I picked up my dog from the vet yesterday, and I am really worried about what he might have. All he wanted to do was drink water. I had to keep the bowl up on the counter or he would have drowned himself in it. They are testing for Cushings disease, or Addisons. ;( . He goes back for 2 hours today for more blood work.

Today I did Amy Bento's Slo-Mo Chest, Bi's & Tri's workout. I still can't make up my mind on whether I like these or not. There is not one excercise that I have done before, so the innovation is great, however, I don't feel like I can challenge myself with heavier weights because I feel that they are unsafe, so I go really light. I don;t even break a sweat! I only did 2 sets of each today instead of the 3 that she does. It was 42 minutes, and I burned 114 caloriesx( .
I am down another pound!

Did everyone see the Blog and the new series coming? Sounds a lot like P90X! A 3 or 6 month rotation! Wow! I can't wait to hear more about this one. I hope she doesn't do a lot of step in it.

Todays menu:
Post workout: Protein drink with water/ice
B- Cherrrios with strawberries & skim milk
s: LF Yogurt
L: Ham on WW, grapes, skim milk
S: apple & stringster cheese
D: Not sure.. DH will throw something together!
S: Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich or WW ice cream bar

Linny:
Your conditions sounds exactly like the lady's that was next to me. I tape AMC and Dancing to watch without commercials! Maybe DS and DH will be ok by Thankgiving?

Jen:
Welcome back! Glad to hear your thumb is getting better. From your post it sounds like you were not one of the ones layed off? You have to share that fruit salad recipe with all the details! Sounds yummy:9.

Garance:
I am glad you are being careful with your knee. These things can take a while to heal. Thank you for the info on the farm, it sounds lovely! We usually make 15 Bean soup when we have leftover ham. And yes we want that recipe for sweet potato pie! I also took out my winter coat this week. It isn't really that cold in temperture, but we were not ready for it!

Josie:
Your family sounds like mine! We have a lot of fun even during the clean up. It is not unusual for us to put on disco music and dance around the kitche while we are doing the dishes!:7 . Sorry to hear about your dog. What did he have?

Have a great day,
Deb;-)

Happy Thursday, All,

Deb, I hope your poor dog will be okay, but I wouldn't worry about him wanting just water for a few days. He's probably dehydrated from fasting, blood work, and may have an upset stomach from testing.

There's really not much to the fruit salad. I use apples, bananas, oranges, tart cherries, blackberries, peaches, and occasionally mangoes or whatever I can find in the grocery store. Like, I said, I add a little at a time, cover with paper towels, remove the paper towels when they become soaked, then add a little more. I mix 2/3 sour cream and 1/3 Cool Whip a little at a time to the fruit until everything is lightly covered. I just eyeball it, so can't give you an exact amount, but have a lot of both on hand because I use my biggest serving bowl. I have to have nuts and coconut in separate bowls because there are several people who don't like one or the other. If we're going to someone else's house, I transport it on ice.

Garance, the description of your farm sounds like pure heaven. So sorry about your knee. If you're like me, it's driving you up the wall that you can't go all out exercising. I've decided my back and thumb problems are supposed to be teaching me a lesson in patience, which I've failed miserably!

If anyone has a good recipe for bean soup, I'd love to have it.

Today, I'm doing Tammilee Webb's Tighter Assets.

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Hi Deb and Jen--

I did the double upper body on Push/Pull--46 min. My knee still feels hinky at times. I will TRY, however, to do some easy cardio tomorrow.

I'm wearing my other pair of flats today. They are so cute.

I will try to remember to bring in my sweet potato pie recipe tomorrow. The fruit salad recipe sounds wonderful. The most complicated dessert I have made is a tiramisu eggnog trifle that I did last year for Christmas and again for DH's stepping down from the board of Rural Lands. It is a really spectacular dessert that I found at epicurious.com.

It sounds like Cathe is coming out with a set of DVDs totally devoted to weight-training. I don't see any cardio in the rundown at the blog. That's fine with me--or I will try anything by Cathe.

Hope your dog, Deb, does well on the tests.

A tutorial and poetry reading this afternoon.
