50 and Over: * Saturday & Sunday!*

Happy Weekend to all:

Today is a rest day for me, which means gardening, laundry, normal everyday pick up of clutter etc! some rest!

Linny: Parrots can live over 50 years, depending on the size. The bigger the bird, the longer it's life span. I am sure mine will outlive me and DH. Not sure what will happen because no one would want him! He is so crotchedy! Hope you get good news about your tests and can finally enjoy the summer!

Question: is everyone on a particular rotation ( not necessarily a formal one from the site, but one of your own) or do you pick your workout for the day based on how you feel?

Jen: good for you for sticking to your guns on the shot issue.. hope it feels better and you are able to get back to excercising.

Garance: How far away is Saratoga? My nephew is from there ( if it's the same one!).. sounds like you had a good time..

Rhonda: my parrot was a lot better before I got my first fox terrier.. that dog was trying to get to him for 10 years! Of course he was not able to get near him, but I think because we had to be so careful, and not let him out of the cage as often, he became more "anti-social" and even though the 2 dogs I have now, don't even notice him at all, or react to him, he is still distructful. He was always a "one person" bird.

Josie: My thoughts and prayers go out to your friend. She sounds very couragious! Have a great trip!

Happy Saturday, All:

Rotations: I never pick my workout for the day depending on how I feel. My workouts are lined up on my bookshelves, and I go down the line. I do every workout I have before I start over. I'm very careful how I line them up so that I never work a body part with weights 2 days in a row. I try not to do abs 2 days in a row, but that doesn't always work out. I also am mindful of what type of cardio I'm doing - if I notice that I'm doing a lot of step in a row or a lot of Hi-Low, I change the lineup around.

Hey, a little OCD never hurt anyone, right? At least I'm organized!

Yesterday I did the Low portion of Candace Copeland's Step & Low, then Classical Stretch: the TV Show, the segment titled Back Pain Prevention.

Tonight, I plan to do CTX All-Step, the one with shoulders and abs.

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Good Morning Jen and all that follow:

Today was PUB ( up only premix) plus abs. After S&H, this workout seems to be at warp speed! There is hardly any time to pick up the next weight!

Anyone use the Adephia Cable/Time Warner service for internet and cable? I tried to switch over to Roadrunner (their e-mail service) and now my e-mail doesn't work at all! I hate cable companies! They helped me switch it yesterday, it seemed to be working, now this morning I can't connect to the server at all. They said something must have happened to my computer overnight ( yeah some gremlins came in and messed with it!) , I need to call a computer tech or the manufacturer.. thanks for the help!

Jen: you rotate all your dvd's? Wow! so how many workouts in a row do you do before you start over again?

Have a great day.. I'll be back later or tomorrow morning

Happy Sunday, All

Deb, I can only commiserate with your Time Warner problems. We had Time Warner for many years. Last month, they were bought out in our area by Comcast. (So far, I'm unimpressed.) That ``answer'' they gave you about your e-mail is one in their series of stock answers designed to get you to hang up - just keep on until they realize you aren't going anywhere!

Ahem, I'm not sure how many DVDs I have. I figure if I don't count them up, I can truthfully say I don't know when my husband asks the same question! I would guess about 150. Yikes! And yet, I can truthfully say there are more I really, really need!

Yesterday, I did CTX All-Step, with shoulders and abs. Tonight I plan to do a Leslie Sansone walking tape, then one of the Classical Stretch 30-minute workouts, Poolside Garden.

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Hi Jen and Deb and anyone who shows up later--

Yesterday was my rest day, which also means cleaning all morning, so I count that as exercise, too.

This morning I did KPC and really gave it my all with the jumps and jacks, which I can do since my most recent cortisone shot is still making me feel okay with some impact.

I used to plan my workouts for the week, but now I just think a little about it the night before, maybe check my notes to remind myself of equipment needs or what to expect, and then do it. Generally speaking, I alternate weight workouts with cardio workouts, I tend to do more weight work for my upper body because of knee issues, and I often start the week with a longer circuit workout like Drill Max, and more recently Kimberly Spreen's kickbox and bodybar intervals. I also tend to concentrate on my most recent purchases with an occasional oldie but goody--like today with KPC. It means many of my tapes and DVDs are languishing on the shelf, but I don't feel too bad about this, because they almost all have been used a lot--with a few exceptions, like Butts and Guts, which I barely ever use and the high step one with all those step ups.

Saratoga is about 75 minutes away from me. It's the same Saratoga that has a horse racing season (starts this Tuesday).

Went to Jacob's Pillow to see the Paul Taylor dance company yesterday. A spectacular first dance called Esplanade to music by Bach. Then a really silly dance called Los Nuenos (not sure of sp, but it means something like "dreams"). I never had a dream with a transvestite, the Virgin of Guadelupe behaving like a contortionist, a Mexican hat dance, a Joel Grey like figure from Cabaret with a pink skull that others occasionally lick lasciviously, a guy with antlers who was supposed to be a stag, and other assorted loonies. It was more like a peyote hallucination than a dream. I was very disappointed. The last dance, though, was very sexy and based on tango moves, so I recovered my enthusiasm. It was also a beautiful afternoon.

Tomorrow will be my last day before vacation at the Jersey shore. I'm bringing my Harry Potter along for beach reading.
