50 and Over ~~Monday~~

Good Morning!

It's a hot one here today.. going to be in the 90's all week and very humid. Today was an I-Train (I-Tread) 30 minute plus the core work from Kathy's Smith's Power Walk DVD... not sure if I like this workout at all. The "walking" part did not get my heart rate up, and I don;t feel the core work.. DH and I will be flying to California Thursday to see his Mom. She is in Saratoga, a suburb of San Jose. Got on the scale today after a week and a half and did not lose anything! x( .I have not changed my eating at all so I am not sure what this is unless for some reason I am retaining water. I read somewhere that weight training makes you retain water (in the muscles).. maybe my 64 minute Pyramid yesterday did this.. I will weigh in again tomorrow to see what is up.

Garance: A question on the Kimberly Spreen workout, are there other pre-mixes? shorter ones? Do you have to modify a lot for impact? I don;t like jumping anymore.. so for KPC, I usually do the Kicking and Punching pre-mix which has all the jumping moves removed. The dance troupe sounds interesting.. it;s nice to see different things once in a while..Regarding the new workouts and the weight selections, this is what Cathe uses and I usually don;t use what she uses in any workout so it doesn't bother me:). I am looking forward to the weight part, and resigning myself to have to do a lot of modifying for the cardio.

Happy Monday from the swamp, All,

Today there's a predicted high of 97 with 80 percent humidity. The ``feels-like'' temperature is predicted to be 105-110. I feel bad for DH - he's self-employed in home repair. Sometimes he lucks out and can work inside, but today he is in the middle of building a deck/trellis/gazebo in someone's back yard.

I didn't work out Thursday or Friday because of some sort of nasty digestive system bug. I didn't work out Saturday because I baby-sat for 2 of my grandchildren in the afternoon, then was joined by the other one and all the parents Saturday night for the 1-year-old's birthday. It was fun, wild, crazy, and loud!

I finally worked out yesterday - did IMAX 1, which wiped me out.

Tonight, I plan to do Core Max 1, Stretch Max 1, and Leslie Sansone's Walk and Jog.

Hi Ladies,

I will be doing Cardio Coach at lunch and my weights tonight.

I had a good weekend, but I'm at work now and it seems like I just
left here yesteday. The weekends go by so fast.

The weather here in LA has been ok, we do have some humidity but not much. I live near the beach, so it is always 20 degrees cooler than the valleys.

Hi Deb, Jen, and Josie--

I did the Gym Style Back, Shoulders, Biceps this morning. I wish the shoulder section was just a tad longer. It's only about 10 minutes while the other two body parts each get almost 20.

Deb, there are, if I remember, two routines of about an hour on Kimberly Spreen's DVD, where you do either kickbox or combat with a bodybar for cardio followed by core work and a stretch/cooldown. Each of these cardios is about 35 minutes. The premix I like is all cardio and alternates the kickbox with the combat routines. Very little impact--some jumping jacks in one of the kickbox combinations and a little bit of boxer's shuffle at the beginning of the first combination--but nothing like those drills from hell on Kickmax, which I just plain won't do. In fact, I think my husband would intervene if he saw me trying those.

It's rather cool today, but if the sun comes out, I think things would heat up a lot, because the humidity is on the rise. Tomorrow promises to be a scorcher.

I ate 3 tomatoes from our garden as part of my lunch today. I wonder if I will get hives, Linny, because I cannot stop gorging on homegrown tomatoes. I love them!!

I actually know someone, it turns out, who was rescued from that bridge disaster. Her car is still suspended half on, half off the bridge. Her rescuers climbed up from River Road below and helped her down the rather steep and brush-laden hill to safety.

Deb: Sorry your scales not moving, mine is but not in the right direction. Been humid here also,tomorrow to be much worse. My husband wants to go to lake tomorrow after work, and spend the night.He knows that summer will soon be over then no waterskiing:-(
Garance: I love homegrown tomatoes. We had a garden 2 years ago and we couldn't eat them fast enough. Hard to stay up on a garden and be at the lake.
Josie: I have been taking a super b-complex for a while now. I wonder now much worse those hotflashes would have been if I wasn't taking it.
Visiting Nurses called me back and said my offer letter is all written up, just need the administrator to give a management reference. The can't tell me the wage they are offering till she gets back to them. But HR says I'll be very happy:)

I did NO workout yesterday...siggghh. When I work in early morning, 5:30 tll 2pm or so, I am wiped out the rest of the day.
I did manage to get some painting in the dining room done. Wow...it sure is RED!!!

I gotta do something aerobic and stretchy today. I feel it in my bones..and muscles. :)
Neeeed that stretching today for sure.
