50%-30%-20% Eating Plan

Hello, I want to start eating a more balanced diet and thought that this sounded good the 50% Carbs 30% protein and 20% fat, but im alittle unsure of how to do this does anyone know of a book or website that has this eating plan in it. Thanks for your time.

You could try Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle by Tom Venuto. It's an e-book that you have to download. It's $40.00 but I found it worth the money. Tells you how to figure out percentages that you eat. Very helpful book.

Hi there,

If you want to find out how to do the percentages, this is how to do it. First you need to add the grams of each, protein, carbs and fat, of what you have eaten. To find that, you check the labels on each serving, or a book that has that information in it. For example, "The Complete Book Of Food Counts".

% of Protein
Count the grams of protein X 4 = (???) divide by total calories = %

% of Carbs
Do it the same way as you did with the protein

% of Fat
Count the grams of fat X 9 = (???) divided by total Calories + %

Hope that helps.

By the way, BFFM is so worth purchasing, I highly recommend it.

I did it for a few months with good results. You basically have to have protein with every meal which will make you feel fuller longer. The book is good because it's not a one size fits all program but rather figuring out what works for you and keep trying till you figure out what's best. I've been working out with Cathe for a little over a year and have tried within that time to eat healthier. I've lost 20 pounds. I've added yogurt and nuts to my diet and tried to cut down on carbs and sweets and eat more whole grains. I realize I do better with more strength training and less cardio. I do cardio about 3x a week and like to do heavy weight training as opposed to endurance. In the book, Tom tells you exactly how many calories you need for your activity level, what you should eat at each meal, what constitutes "lean protein", protein needs, what simple and complex carbs are, zig-zagging your calories, water requirements and meal plans as well as excellent tips on strength and cardio training. You must have strength and cardio training plus a healthy diet to achieve your goals. He says abs are "50% diet, 49% cardio and 1% ab exercises".
