Do either of you have STS? I was wondering if it is worth getting. I'm in good shape but I am somewhat overweight due to continuous steroids for the last 12 years. I will also admit that I don't always have the cleanest diet but am constantly working on it. Will I see results. I got great strength results from XTRAIN and even better cardio endurance. But with having all of Cathe's workouts, except for STS and Crosstrain Express, do I need it or will I benefit from it and more than with XTRAIN? I hope I'm making sense. Any help would be great.

Hi Kim -
I agree that Xtrain is amazing - I, too got great strength and cardio fitness from that series. STS is very different - strength only (obviously), and much more 'traditional weight training' type workout. I'm doing an STS rotation at the moment. It's probably better than Xtrain for building muscle, but it does tend to focus on the larger mucle groups. I guess whether or not you lost weight with it would depend on the other routines you did alongside. I tend to do STS 3x per week, MWT 1x , Hiit 2x, kickbox 1x, plus yoga, and maybe a bit of core work (when I remember  ).
STS is very flexible, in that you can do any cardio alongside. Obviously there's a bit more equipment needed as well - do you have a barbell?
I know Nathalie is a fan of STS, so I'm sure she'll be able to add to what I've said.
Very best of luck
Justine
PS I've just bought Hardcore!!!

Hi Kim,

I do own both 4ds and STS. I got 4ds before and although I was already in a good shape, I trusted myself and knew I was not ready as yet. I was new to the all concept of lifting heavy splitting muscle group. Because I was not going to the gym and did not booked session with a personal trainer, I had to take it one step at the time!

That being said. I would advise you to add STS only if you feel you are no longer being challenged by any program you currently have at home. Kim what truly make a difference in gaining result is Nutrition. You can browse various tread on here and you will come up with valuable post.

I truly hope this helps you making a decision.

All the best kim,

All the best kim,

Would you mind letting us know what you did to build up to STS? I pretty much have all of Cathe's DVDs or downloads and need to get back into exercising again. It's been about a year since doing any of her videos (I have done a bit of 4DS, hardcore series, sts meso 1 (but then I got sick and never got back into it), LIS). I'm trying to come up with something to build my way up again. So I was curious what you did and how long you did a series or rotation.

Thanks!
Jen

I built up to STS embarking on split program such as 4DS and Gym style. I also did STS total to understand the the concept STS was made of.

They were more flexible.Rotation were also short compared to 3 months commitment. I also made sure to improve both cardio and strength endurance ability. I did more Hiit and endurance lifting program. Why Hiit, Because it does improve the cardiovascular fitness quicker than long steady pace.

Meso 2 and 3 does make exercisers to work out anaerobically which fit in with Hiit.

Hope I have answered your question clearly enough to help you!

Kind Regards,
