40's hot in April

Good Afternoon,

I did KCMs Olympic Lift 1 and I don't like this one either it requires a barbell and if you don't do it right you can injure yourself and I think I hurt my wrist but the second workout is with dumbells and I like it and then I did 150 squats and 30 minutes on the treadmill.

Mary-I wear 2 piece I look better in that then a one piece.

I just did 3.5 mile jog and this morning I did most of IMAX2 (thought it was done, but there were two more intervals left- I guess i felt complete plus i was running out of time.) I may end up being Rotation Girl. After 12 weeks of Barre 4x wk I feel like I can stick to just about anything.
We had grad party for 2nd years today. I made healthy food choices but also had cake, doh!

Roxie, I hate looking for bathing suits but you'll need several for boat season, I bet. Target has a lot of cute looking stuff now.

Mary, I am done with clinicals now til about May 8? Not sure. Things did improve with the one person at clinical and thankfully overall everything smoothed out. We will have a new classroom instructor for summer and have the program director for our instructor next fall.

Mary and Ronne, a pistol is one leg held out forward and squat all the way down to floor on other then rise to standing position all while keeping other leg forward. Remember shoot the duck on rollerskates? Like that, only it is easier on skates for some reason.

Lisa, how did it all go? Are you vertical??? Or wiped out?

Waves to Murph.

Jody- I have a drawer full of swimsuits but only one 1piece that I bought at Target to wear to a water park with ds and her dh and his brothers. I will wear it when the kids go on the boat with us to make sure the girls don't fall out I have to keep them locked and loaded bt when its just dh and I its not that big of deal its the lake who cares.

I'm guessing you all are curious about outcome. So I'll skip personals. I did have lunch with my BFF, it was nice. The Flexeril didn't knock me out after all, nor any dizziness (maybe taking Meclizine helped). Here is the gist of the dr appt.

Let's start by saying I'm ready to divorce this neck ;)

So, saw neurosurgeon today, unfortunately they didn't get the EMG results that I had done 8 days ago?!?!?! So they are following up on that and hopefully will call Friday with results.

As most know the facet block worked well.....for only the neck pain in c5/c6, c6/c7. Still a few issues:

1. I still feel pain down left side of neck and can shoot into just behind mid-delt(shoulder). Since c4/45 shows instability, they are thinking maybe a nerve is pinching there, therefore I have another injection on Wed, May 1st, but this time an epidural in the left c4/c5....this is to see if the nerve is the problem since there is no other degeneration at that level (besides the little bit of instability seen in xray). The EMG could confirm this as they are suppose to be able to tell which level has the nerve compression. I told Neurosurgeon that neurologist did tell me there was nerve root irritation....Neurosurgeon said that means compression so just waiting on report to see what areas it identified but meanwhile will hit the area with an injection.

2. I explained how I can now feel pain in my tricep off and on, most notably one day that the pain just wouldn't leave no matter what I did. Explained the pain and they seemed to think that there is a nerve compressed at the c6/c7 level. This makes sense as that is the level that is most degenerated. Again EMG will confirm this if we ever get that report. Since a nerve is involved AND since the facet blocks worked, the only option is surgery to fix it. So depending on what we find out from #1 above it will be either a 2 level (c5/c6 and c6/c7) fusion and maybe a 3 level fusion if c4/c5 is identified as a problem a well.

None of this is in stone yet, still variables as we try to still put the puzzle together, but we are closer and know it will probably need surgery to correct.

Mary, do you know anything about gabapentin? I have a RX for that for the nerve pain (but I can't start it until done with #1 above as it can skew the results). The directions have where you build up and take it consistently is seems, I was more hoping to take it when I have bad nerve pain (so occasionally), is that not possible? I didn't get a chance to ask dr :)

Short on time - did 40/20 but had to break it up into 2 parts (had to help DH with something), then did XTrain bi's and tri's w/ abs. Am a little tired now but feel good. I hope everyone is doing well. Good luck Lisa with the neck.

Murphy

Hi all

Lisa - well, it does sound like you're getting somewhere and starting to get some answers. Will surgery solve the problems or will you always have some pain?

Murphy - wow, that's a pretty full on workout day!

Roxie - I like Olympic Lift, I don't do it that often. Powersculpt is probably my favourite KCM, I always feel really accomplised after doing it.

Jody - how do you feel about your course now? Do you feel like you're learning stuff or are you still in areas you're familiar with?

Mary - I love AT. It just works for me. Don't blame you about not wanting to sit around in the cold. I moan about gymnastics but at least all DD's sports are indoors!

Forgot to mention yesterday that I had huge calf DOMS from GSL. I almost fell out of bed yesterday morning cos my calves hurt so badly I couldn't walk! They're not a lot better today. Rest of my legs are fine, I obviously hadn't worked them very much in Xtrain!
Did TBT just Chest & Triceps then med ball abs from ab circuits. They were harder than Back and Biceps last week. Felt proud of myself as I managed 6 dive bomber modifications!!
Really pleased with hair, good to know I've got a back-up!

Hello! Did Tabatacize this morning. Harder this time! Lisa, I think that medicine does take time to build up in your system, like a theraputic level. I know initially it was used for seizures and then found to help with nerve pain. You would have to ask the pharmacist, but I don't believe you can take one, like say a pain pill, at random. I could be totally wrong also! When will you find out about surgery? I hope soon, just so you can get some relief. Ronne, I think the boys and I lasted about 30 minutes at the meet! It was constant rain with a temp of 36, we were shaking. I felt so bad that I had to leave her there, went against every instinct! Jody, will you graduate this December? How awesome is that?! Do you have to take a state test? I'm sure with your experience and personality you won't have any trouble finding a job! Murphy, hello! We missed you! Roxie, I wish I looked good in a 2 piece! I have a pooch from the twins, I want it gone.... Not much going on today, enjoying the silence! Have a good day! Mary

Good Morning,

I did KCM TLC 1 Boxing which is one of my favorites and then 155 squats and 40 minutes on the treadmill.

Mary-I don't look perfect in it but at the lake who cares no one knows you. I have dd boobs so they take alot to hold them in and thats why a one piece doesn't look so good with my short body and big boobs.

Lisa-glad you are getting answers.

Ronne-I have that one on schedule for tomarrow.

Not a great sleeping night, even with all that flexeril (took more midnight too). What I'm feeling now is nerve pain for sure (probably had it all along, just the neck pain was so intense I couldn't tell how much everything else hurt). Taking another rest day, will try to do my laps on the elliptical.

Roxie, I have the same pooch as Mary, I think mine is hereditary (Mom had it).

Mary, I think my next appt with Neurosurgeon (May 13th) will be the prep for surgery (they talked in code when scheduling my appointment but I think I deciphered it) :) I think you are right about that having to build up. They dont' want me to take it until we see if the injection next week works. After that baby, I'm loading up! I normally am not one for too many drugs, but enough is enough! Carpal tunnel is really bad too (will have to address that in the future). Even with no computer yesterday, I mixed up a dish (stirring with spoon), immediate pain in hand and carpal tunnel nerve hurting. And work is really putting the work on me (lots of typing). Don't feel too bad about leaving the field. I'm such a BAD mom during DS21 graduation from high school, it was sooooooo cold at night, after his name was called I had to leave. Then the poor kid was looking for us afterwards and we weren't there. Ah, he didn't get too scarred for life :)

Ronne, I hope this takes care of the pain! I will have limited movement in the neck (don't have too much now anyway). And I will have to modify jumping motions I'm sure so as not to damage the other levels. I will do the jumping with CAthe in spirit.

Murphy, I need all the luck I can get! thanks!

Jody, the flexeril didn't affect me as bad as first time, maybe there were other issues going on last time that have resolved themselves (like ear crystals). Your workouts still amaze me. I'll amaze you again someday, but you'll know I'll be modifying big time, please you all MUST remind me not to be superwoman even though I will have a bionic neck! :p

I needed a shower so I decided to do HS, modified ala keeping everything grounded. Did a couple of the conditioning drills just so my UB muscles lift a little bit and 1/2 of the situps. All in all, I did good for my condition!

Lisa great job, just be safe!! I am hoping for some good results with your treatments and possible surgery.

Roxie I have the opposite boob prob, and it takes an architectural miracle to support them.

Mary, did you enjoy your quiet day? It sounds lovely. I have another year (next may) til grad. Then national boards and state licensure. I actually have the license so I am hopeful to gain employment sooner but still finish school and get my registry. Thanks for the sweet words about getting hired. I sure hope so. : ) Goal, work 3 days, bellydance 4!

Murphy, I did an interval run today using 40/20 count, I must have been thinking of your post, and it is on my schedule this week, too.

Ronne, I feel about the same with my course. I think when we do some infant stuff or maybe in the cardio dynamics I'll be feeling differently.

I did 4 mile run with intervals, practiced those pistols and did some push ups. Tomorrow is drill max. I didn't do it today cuz I had to wait on dd at tkd and I can do a run there while I wait.

I did TTM this morning. I think I need to lower the risers in the beginning, and raise them in the 2nd half. I skipped the 30/20 HiiT. I just did not have it in me today. Plus, I was short on time. I started a load of laundry then DH was talking to me...

Lisa - you asked if I liked TTM. Welll, I did it today and I find it harder than CF. I may need to lower the risers for a bit. I do like the ab work.

JOdy - are you doing the bellydancing or is that Mary? How's it going?

Roxie - I too have the opposite problem with the "girls". I have to find tops to perk them up and show them off - just a bit.

Waves to Mary and Ronne

Murphy

Hi all

Murphy - TTM is definitely the harder of the two.

Jody - sounds like a good workout day. Are you doing an Xtrain rotation or just going your ownway?

Lisa - well done on the workout - you'll figure out ways to make it work for you. You've got plenty to choose from at least. I expect to see some creative Jody-type mish moshes coming from you!! :p

Roxie - reading how many squats you're doing makes my glutes ache!

Mary - Did you do the whole thing? If so, I salute you! I don't blame you for abandoning DD in the rain :D! Good luck with the weekend shift again. Hope it flies by for you.

Did CRF today. Haven't done the whole thing in months. OMG, it nearly killed me. By the end of Plyo Tabata I was close to throwing up! Those tuck jumps at the end were pretty pathetic! Hoping it might at least have stretched my still-aching calves out.

Won't be around this weekend - I'm off to London. DH treated me to a weekend film course, two days of talking about directors, writers, etc. Really looking forward to it!

Have a good one everyone!

Hello! Today did the original BC, legs still tired from the tabatas yesterday! Lisa, how are you feeling? Did HS bother anything? Ronne, have fun this weekend. Sounds interesting. Murphy, Jody is the belly dancer! I would be laughing to hard to be good at that! Roxie, I'm with Jody and Murphy. I have to buy bras that stand up on their own to make it look like I have something! Jody, when will you start looking for a job? Is that national registry? Does it make you more qualified than just the liscense? Have to run to store for my mom, coversation went like this: "Can you pick me up some bread?" What kind? "Cinnamon" what brand? "I don't know, it's the ONLY one at the grocery store!" I think I"m going to have to go and call her with every brand there! Haha! My dad must be hiding outside! I will see you all on Monday, have a good weekend! Mary

Good Morning,

I did KCM Power Sculpt that was a tough one and then 160 squats and 30 mins on the treadmill. Mu butt should be nice and tight when I finish this challenge.

No w/o and I'm not doing any this weekend in attempt to keep pain level low. Even just sleeping on that side gives me pain in the morning....SOMETIMES. No return call from dr office about EMG. REally fed up. Then there is work.....you wouldn't understand the politics but fed up there too. I'm taking a hiatus from computer, workouts this weekend.
