40 & over checkin - week of 12/7

Hi everyone, I'm starting us off for the week. I hope everyone gets a chance with all the business of the holidays to not only workout but come to the checkin too!

I got me some new 20lb dumbbells. I could kick myself because had I been thinking I would have spent another $20 on 2 - 15 lb dumbells and saved another $10 with the coupon I had, so I would have gotten 2 15 lbs dumbbells for only $10. <kicking myself>

Today I did iTread14, and I really kicked butt. I came in at a new PR with a 9:38 min mile. iTread14 is flat and fast and doesnt' give you hardly any walk breaks at all. In fact it was 25 min into it before a mere 30 sec walk break. I thought I would die, but I lived to feel accomplished and live another day. I even hit the shopping mall and kohls after my run. I didn't buy much, only a pair fleece pants and 2 fleece shirts (all my heavier weight casual stuff is too big). I got the dumbbells as I mentioned above and a couple little holiday gifts for DH. They are small (stress ball and gloves) but he will be shocked and it's just what he needs with this new job, especially when he travels to Chicago in the winter!

Gotta scoot for now, later....

Hi Everyone.

Good Monday morning!

Its been busy here - over the weekend I did more holiday shopping, tree trimming, decorating and baking.

My eating is meh but I'm attempting to keep up with my workouts here.

I've been working with my Kettlebells not bothering with the dvds I have as I just don't have my workout space lately - family has taken over the space as its where the fireplace is at. So they are using the dvd player lol

Trying to stay warm here.

Take Care!

I did the 4DS Bi/Tri X2 of FF rotation today and got the dog a walk before the snow hits. Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day, will see what I do with the snow and driving into work (ugh), and then also my sis and I might go down to see the Miramont Castle decorated Victorian Christmas sometime this week so that will take up a workout day.

I've been staying good on my eating, but by my scale I may have went up a lb, maybe water, maybe this rotation, maybe my scale, whatever....

Oh, and when I bought those 20# db's yesterday I swear I saw a couple guys looking at me as I carried them out, probably amazed I could carry them? :p

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend, busy shopping here, the kids are so excited for Christmas, wanting to spend their dollars. So sweet to watch as they pick out what they think will be perfect! We leave for Vegas on Thurs., so I am trying to get everything together, clothes for us, the kids, (they'll be staying with grandparents) , you know they usual chaos of being organized! Today was KPC, a sweat fest! Lisa, I hope you will be able to brush your hair tomorrow! My arms would be fried doing that w/o 2x in a row! Have fun tomorrow, that sounds like a great day! Hi Vilma, you are a busy girl!! I haven't started baking yet! Hi to Kathryn, Murphy, Ronne, Andrea! Well, I need to keep moving, I'm washing the floor, etc! Mary

Hi everyone!

It's getting so busy here. It's been a week since I last worked out but the builders may not be back for a few days so I've got a chance! Planning to do SJP in its entirety today as I haven't done that for ages and I like the weights in that.

Lisa - the rotation you're doing looks great. I'm going to try that next year sometime when things have calmed down! Enjoy your rest day today.

Vilma - well done you for carrying on working out without your DVDs. I'd be useless!

Mary - hope you have a great time in Vegas. Getting organised for a trip is a pain but I'm sure it will be worth it!

We had a kitchen planner round last night - fingers crossed we can get something for the price we were paying for the original kitchen!

Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!

Hello ladies.

I have been crazy busy and just haven't had a chance to catch up with you all.

Whats the goss? Do we have a date for STS yet?

My eatings been terrible (hang my head in shame) I had been doing very well, but I have failed dismally thiese past couple of weeks. My hips are widening - as we speak.

So I am going to try to check in daily, so that I am accountable for my actions.
Funny thing is, It would be very easy to lie to everyone and say, eatings wonderful, down goes the scale. I mean how would y'all know? But I have never lied to anyone in cyber space about anything!! I' actually can't lie to save myself anyway. Turn bright red!

later cyber buddies.

Well, no rest day for me. I didn't go into the office today, so went ahead with a workout. I did the double cardio premix from 4DS and then I shoveled snow (the reason I didn't go in).

Andrea, I'll never understand how some people can lie so easily. I just went through a hearing and I was amazed at how easily the other party lied about everything. Thankfully the court saw through them as they had several inconsistancies (sp?) in their statement....that's what happens when you lie, right? They ruled in my favor, so now I'm hoping they don't appeal.

Mary, so is it just you and DH going to Vegas? Something like a second honeymoon? ooh la la I have some DOMS from Bis/Tris yesterday (more than I normally do) but not too bad.

Ronne, aw, come on, you know shopping for a kitchen (even if the second time) as got to be fun! Let's hope the $ come in at close to the same amt. Today we have a roofer coming to estimate a new roof....not nearly as fun as a kitchen!!! Don't know how he is going to do it with the snow...it's my luck he will have to come back.

Hellos to Vilma, Katherine, Murphy, and anyone else I may have forgotten in my haste to close...bye!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say hello! Just finished my w/o, I have to get packing! I am so excited to go away and spend time with just me and my DH! It has been so long! Andrea, don't feel bad about your eating, I eat all the time and baaaad things! I figure it is one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time! Ronne, hope all is going well with the kitchen, I can see how frustrating it would be to replan everything! Lisa, you are doing so well on that rotation! Hi to Vilma, Murphy, Kathryn! Talk to you all next week! Mary

Hi ladies! A rest day for me today....I'll need it for the Chest/Back of GS in FF rotation tomorrow! Let the DOMS begin

Mary, have a great trip! We expect you to tell us all the juicy fun you had when you get back!

Hello everyone

Rather irregular on the checkin with everything that's going on! I did Imax 3 yesterday. I love that one! I'm one of the odd ones who prefers that to Imax 2. :) Planning to do the UB and abs only from ME today.

I don't really watch what I eat but I have noticed since the weather has got colder I've been eating more 'treaty' stuff. Just a biscuit, or a small cake, but every day which I never used to do. So, for the past two days, I haven't had anything like that. I've just eaten my usual meals, a bit of fruit and if I wander into the kitchen, I wander straight out again. I reckon I have to be a bit stricter with my workouts being so erratic.

Andrea - don't give yourself a hard time! It's not worth it.

Lisa - enjoy your rest day. You deserve it with this rotation!

Looking forward to hearing about Mary's trip to Vegas! Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Ladies.

Very quick fly by post.

Ronne - I love Imax 3 too and prefer it over Imax2. I'm being irregular with the posts too - too much to do and sooo little time.

Lisa - I love the look of FF's Dec rotaion and I keep meaning to start it, but time beats me. I've only managed to do Day one of week one! :p

Mary - Las Vegas, tell us everything you lucky girl!

I've managed to control the eating for two days in a row. I am going give myself mini goals - this weeks mini goal is to make to Saturday, without bursting the diet.

Heres a comment fro me : "You really really have to concentrate and THINK BEFORE you open up your gob and put anything in it. Don't YOU?"

On those words of wisdom, I must dash!

Quick check in...

Hi, everybody! I did Kettlebell Way today. Actually, it's my second time doing the workout. I did it last Saturday and was soooo sore until Wednesday that I had a hard time walking! At the end of the workout I remember thinking, "Well, that wasn't so hard."

It's one of those sneaky workouts... seems fairly easy but makes you pay later!

Andrea, I haven't been very good about eating lately, either. What helps me control that is by remembering how awful I feel after I eat whatever sugary and/or starchy thing I'm reaching for. It really affects my blood sugar levels, which soar and then plummet, leaving me feeling so shaky and ill.

Don't beat yourself up about it, though. That only makes you feel worse and more frustrated, which often leads to more eating, which leads to feeling worse and even more frustrated, which leads to more eating ...

Speaking of temptation, Mary, you have to tell us all about Vegas! Do you visit the casinos? I tend to stick with the slot machines because it's easy (and addicting). DH plays blackjack, which I don't like because of all the mental math (not my best area). People get really upset if you take a card when you shouldn't! And once I tried roulette, which was fun. We also won a fair amount of money at it, which probably made it more fun.

Are you going to see any shows? Have a great time!

Ronne, how is the kitchen project coming? Will you be able to enjoy the holidays with all of the upheaval? I hope you have smooth and quick progress!

Hi, Vilma! Glad to see you're keeping up with your workouts and getting ready for Christmas. I've got to dig my head out of the sand and do something because it will be here -- ready or not!

Lisa, keep up the good work! You've been so regular with your workouts (and hard ones, too)! I hope you're seeing progress.

Well, I've got to run. Swamped at work (which adds to the fun)! Bye!

Hey everyone! Yep, I did FF GS Chest/Back today. WHOA! DS19 is home from college so it's a bit busy here now, so just a quick fly by this time. Hellos to everyone!

LOL Kathryn! I got my haircut (drastic in the back, not so drastic in the front), my friend wanted pics so I got DH to take them so I could send to her. Figured, what the heck let me use them on Facebook and Cathenation even if I do feel like I'm smiling like a dork! I hate taking the time to upload the pics and format them if necessary but then I hate more taking the pics to begin with!

I think it's very flattering -- very fresh and youthful, as the hair people say.

I just cut mine short in September. It was to the middle of my back and looking pretty blah. I usually put it up in a pony tail because it is fine and thin and goes flat in the heat anyway. I like it short because it looks better and feels better. It does require some actual styling now, but at least it has a style!

I really like seeing pictures of the people who post. It gives me a face to put with the name, instead of "oh, that's the cat with the lime on its head" or whatever. That's why I went out on a limb and used my picture for my avatar.

Feel free to post new pix often -- it's fun to look at them!

I was totally going for the "youth" factor! Mine is fine and thin too and I liked pulling it up into a ponytail especially to workout. Yes, I have to "style" it but it isn't so bad since it's so short.

I like seeing people's real faces too. That's why I've tried to get a picture up of me even though I hate the camera.

As far as working out, I did GS Legs today and really upped the weights to FitnessFreak standards. WOW
