3rd pregnancy

Hi, I'm new here, just found out that I'm pregnant again...I have a 6 and a 4 year old and this was a bit of a surprise, a happy one though!

Anyway, I am having a bit of a freak out because I have really gotten into working out in the last 2 years and I don't really know how much is acceptable during pregnancy. I kept pretty active during the first 2, but I wasn't into weight training or running like I am now. I have been really careful with my diet which I know is going to be great for the baby, but I know it will be hard for me to start gaining weight. ( I am still really early on, so I know it's not a sure thing yet)

Up until recently I have been running 3-4 times a week and doing Cathe's gym series on alternate days. What is a good plan for me? I asked my doctor, but she just said to keep up with what I'm doing as long as it feels ok. This seems pretty vague to me. Do I decrease the weights?

I need advice!!!!!

thanks in advance!

Welcome Shell!!!!

I could've wrote most of your post myself back in the beginning of the year. My girls are 4 & 6 and our third will be here next month!

Your doc is right - keep doing what you're doing til its not comfortable. You'll just know when/if you need to decrease your weights. I'm still lifting pretty much the same for UB. LB too, except for lunges - I've had to give up any kind of lunge as it puts way too much strain on my round ligaments. Step aero. is very modified at this point - quick spins and twists with a 20-lb. belly get a little tender too! You're not supposed to lay on your back after your 1st trimester as it can cut off blood flow to the baby. This goes for ab work and moves like chest flies. For lying bench work I just put my bench up to an incline. Boy, is my upper chest loving/hating me!!!:)

Eat as healthy as you can. The first trim. was really hard for me as all I could stomach was CARBS!!! Alas, I didn't gain too much weight and have done well not gaining too much. I'll likely hit about 25# by the time I deliver. It's hard for me to watch the scale rise so I totally understand where you're coming from!

Join us on the checkin here if you'd like - the more the merrier!!!:D

Congratualtions and good luck!!

thanks for the feedback, it helps knowing that I'm not alone! i can't even think about exercising right now as I am sooo tired!

Shell, There were a few weeks that WO's were pretty much nonexistent! You'll be back at it when your 2nd tri. hits. I've got about a month to go and I *should* take it down to 5 WO's/week but I'm still trying my best to push thru 6. Most weeks I do. Just aim to maintain, not hit new heights. You'll do great!:D
