3 day juice fast

I'm doing my second 3 day juice fast. I did it about 6 months ago before I started to diet and I think it was a great start. I ended up losing 20 lbs after about three months of eating 1200 calories per day. It was hard at first but after the third day my impulses to nibble on my kids food while making it went away, my stomach shrunk which decreased my appetite and my need for junk food went away. I was so excited to go back to normal food after the third day and after juicing it made eating healthy foods so much easier. I was happy to just eat a bowl of whole grain rice. Although I had no interest in drink juice for a while!

I know that the 7 day juice detox some consider dangerous. Has anyone heard of any danger with 3 days or has anyone tried it and had bad side effects? I personally think it’s a great start to a diet but I don’t know the science behind it.

I have done a lot of research on this subject and have concluded that it is a great way to rev up your body. My sister actually did it about a month ago (for 2 straight weeks). She had a lot of energy and lost a lot of weight. Your right, it typically does make eating healthy much easier, because you have taken all of the yucky stuff (sugar, sodium, fat) out of your system.

Personally, I would not do it for 2 weeks. That is just a little too long, plus it gets boring. 5-7 days sounds more appropriate.

If you don't want to go the juice route, you could always just eat raw for a little while. Many people do this permanently, as there are many nutrients that are lost during the cooking process. On the other hand, there are some nutrients that can only be attained after the food (veggies, fruits, whole grains) has been cooked. Anyway...

I am going to do an all juice diet for 6 days in about a month. I just got a juicer (the jack la lane one) and am coming up with recipes for the week.

BTW, before you began the juice diet, it is a good idea to do a one week salt water cleanse. Actually, you could probably do them at the same time (if you usually eat healthy), as you cannot eat anything to rich during the cleanse. Just a tip

I've never heard of any negative side effects. If you don't feel right during the week, you could always just quit and return to your normal diet.:)
