25 more days....

Here's a thought for you, Shelley...have you seen the move "The Passion Of The Christ"?

What would be worse...taking a beating like was shown in that movie...or going without cookies for Lent?

Hang in there, you'll make it. Or...you could convert to the Lutheran ideals. We don't give up stuff during Lent but I have Catholic relatives/friends so I know, I know.
:D

Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm not doing this for any religious reasons at all. Just as a test of my willpower.

Hooray for Shelley!! And I have no doubt that you'll meet your goal. I'm proud of ya, Sheller's. Now, about that Bday cake? Are you just giving up cookies or does your sacrifce include cake, too?:D

Michele

A-hem. Excuse me... may I offer a way to cheat? The big breakfast cookies aren't sweet, and I'd never consider them junk food. Could they slide in under the wire? They're awfully good.

*puts her hands over her ears*

THEY'RE COOKIES!!!!:p

Michele - the Lent deal is ONLY cookies. Maybe I'll go to a fancy dessert place and buy myself a slice of cake on my birthday:)

If you baked them in a loaf pan you could call it bread. ;-)

Well, if you were going to go to some fancy schmancy dessert place and get a slice of cake, what kind would you get?

Oh yah... oatmeal cookie bread...I could do that:D.

Michele

Hmmmmmmm.... a good question.

White chocolate mousse. Or something apple. I love apple cake. My mom used to make me milk chocolate cake, four layers with whipped cream (real) in between the layers, or angel food with whipped cream. Are you sensing a whipped cream theme here?:p

I gave up ALL sweets for lent and my son got a strawberry sundae on Saturday - it looked sooooo good. And then he says, "Mommy do you want a bite"?

A lady in my office gives up coffee and sweets every Lent but then she has them on Sundays. Never heard of such a thing.

AND, our food service director and her husband eat only fresh fruits, fresh veggies and water during lent. Nothing else at all. Not even salt/pepper, condiments, etc. Now that takes willpower.

My two favorite desserts in the world are chocolate mocha cheesecake, really thick lemon bars, and any kind of fruit tart.

Oops, that's three. Okay, I'll need to do an extra two hours of cardio that day but it's worth it.
;-)

NOTHING is worth TWO extra hours of cardio:eek:

Michele

But Michele...I'm two hours from any fancy schmancy restaurant...that would be two hours of CARdio on the way home. :p

For me it's meat and booze. I don't miss the meat so much (I actually like eating vegetarian), but there are times when a glass of wine would taste sooo good and relaxing.

Not sure I'm going to add too much meat back into my diet after lent. Maybe only 1 or 2 servings a week - for the kids.

For Roman Catholics Lent is the forty day period before Easter but does not include Sundays because Sundays commemorate the Resurection.

I think I gave up something for lent but I can't remember what it is.......
