20# + 20# = 38.5#

x( Lately when doing chest flies and presses with 20#ers I've felt a bit wonky on one side or the other so today I dusted off the scales and weighed my dumbells....they're your garden variety, tried and true hexi metallic dumbells identicle in appearance but bought at separate times. Well one weighs 20# and the other 18.5# even though they look the samex( I'm annoyed but it does explain the strange feelings of imbalance especially at the end of sets.

I guess I'd better go shopping with my scales in hand and find my 20#er a mate. I just paid $40.00 for a 4# med ball to use with the TLT and Mindy Mylrea workouts I just ordered and haven't paid for yet. Good thing it's only money:p I was drooling over the Bosu and Rebounder at the fitness store but I'd better see what the tax man says before I spend anymore. So, where are you spending your fitness dollars these days?

That's weird about your weights! I think maybe I should weigh mine now! Why would that be, I wonder, that one is only 18.5 pounds? I am just getting into Cathe, so I just bought about 4 new DVDs, a step, and my DH just bought me a set of barbells, even though I have several different weights of dumbbells. I want to get a stability ball next, and a couple more DVDs of Cathe's. I'm completely addicted to her workouts now! I sold my FIRMs and Tae-bo's on Ebay. By the way, has anyone else noticed how high Cathe's workouts go on Ebay? I mean, you might as well pay a couple dollars more and get a brand new DVD. Some of the used ones go as high as her new ones on this website. What's the deal?

Laurie, I had the same experience with the Spri soft medicine balls. I ordered a pair of 4#ers and neither one weighs exactly 4#'s. I also have 3# and 5# balls and they are both off slightly. I called Spri and was told that it's not unusal for there to be some slight variation in the weight from one ball to another but I would certainly think that dumbells would be accurate.

I definitely noticed how high Cathe's workouts can go. I'd never pay the same price on ebay for a brand new workout I could buy on my own. Makes no sense.
