12-Week Check-in for Saturday, July 1, 2006

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
I hesitated to start this thread today since I am not actively participating in the challenge now, but I want to thank you for all the love and support. The encouragement I received blessed me to tears yesterday.

After much prayer, I decided to start Scale Down by Danna Demetre. I bought the book and workbook yesterday and ordered the CDs for the 8-week journey as well as the Healthy Self-Talk CD. Danna is a Christian lifestyle coach. She is a registered nurse who has battled and conquered binge eating and emotional eating. Scale Down is an 8-week journey that deals with emotional eating, body image, and finding balance in every area of life. That is something I desperately need. I have renewed hope now! Danna addresses fitness and nutrition too, but I really like that she focuses on the spiritual and emotional as well. It is not a diet or an exercise program. It is a lifestyle transformation from the inside out. The CDs are scheduled for delivery on Monday, and I am excited about this new journey.

Have a happy, blessed, and safe 4th of July weekend! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

Heather, that sounds great!!!! I'm so glad you found that program and I hope you let us know how it's going.

I'm hoping to do one muscle group with PH & MIS today. I also need to improve on my water intake, I've been slack on that.

Heidi :)

Good Morning Girlies!:*

Heather, Sad to hear that you will no longer be a part of the Challenge. I am so glad that you have found a program that inspires you though. I hope it works out for you. You must come by and let us know how it is going!!!:)

Heidi, Talkin' about water intake being lame...OMG! Mine has been just AWFUL for weeks now! I really need to kick it up! Especially if I hope to reverse the vacation damage before the challenge is over!

Yesterday I did my own full body weight work out at home, a 2 mile TM run and a 1 mile incline walk at the gym. The gym experience was a joke though as I ended up running in my crosstrainers cause I forgot to change my shoes before I left AND my mp3 player was not working right so I did most of my work out sans music which is NOT fun!x(

Today is still up in the air for me as far as a work out. It's all cardio though...that I know atleast.

good morning challengers:)
today's workout: ran 5miles WHEW!!

my niece is getting married today and it's gonna be a hectic day especially eating wise. Menu is this: brisket, asado, rice, beans, potato salad and bread. Of course, there's cake and cookies too!! YIKES. I have already decided to eat a little of everything and that's it. no big indulges and no seconds. I'm gonna dance my BIG BUTT off and have fun! LOL

ya'll have a great day!

take care:)
Gloria

Gloria, Have fun at the wedding! I'm sure that 5 mile run you did this morning will take care of the food at the wedding!}(

I am back from the gym...2 mile run and my 40 min Itrain Elliptical work out.

Off to a bbq this afternoon....YUMMY!:9

Hi all.

No exercise for me today. I'm really tired. I had too much excitement(not the good kind) and a late night at the emergency room so today I am recovering from emotional stress and lack of sleep. DD got in a car wreck last night. At first she thought she was fine, but once we got home, she started to complain so I took her to a late night dr.'s office. They said they couldn't get xray's reviewed and told us we needed to go to the emergency room. We took her to the hospital where the trauma doctors that I work for are (across town, but I felt I could trust their option) Luckily she did not have any fractures, but her neck is messed up and she is in a C collar and not allowed to work or drive until the dr. releases her. Of course she doesn't have anything to drive anyway because the car is totaled. I just thank God that she is OK. She was wearing her seatbelt and the airbags deployed. I don't even want to imagine what would have happened if she hadn't been wearing it. I would really prefer not to have this kind of drama in my life, but you learn to deal with what is thrown your way.

Heather, your new plan sounds great. Let us know how you like it.

Gloria, have fun at the wedding.

Heidi and Wendy, nice workouts. I'm goign to try to do better this next week.

Hi ladies,

today is a working rest day for me. i have alot of housework to catch up on. i must get together a new rotation and find some motivation. my workouts have been slacking and my eating has been horrendous. TTOM is over and now it's time to get back to business, LOL

Heather- glad to see you stayed with us. good luck with your new plan.

wendy- nice to have you back. how was the trip? i can't believe you actually worked out on your vacation:D

Gloria- enjoy the wedding! how is look great in eight going for you? i just found my old article, so i may put together a plan and start this rotation.

Jean- i hope everything gets better really soon. really glad to hear dd is fine.

heidi- great workout.

enjoy the rest of your day ladies!

Hey Sunny...The trip was fun. I was with a group that enjoyed more "down time" than I do so it was frustrating at times when I wanted to GO GO GO and everyone else wanted to VEG VEG VEG but all in all it was a great time!:+
I didn't exercise like I normally would. If I did I probably would not have gained the three pounds that I did!:p
The cardio limit on the machines in the ship's gym was 30 mins so I adhered to that every time but once. The area by the machines had to be about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the gym so that kept me from working out too long also.
Part of the motivation to exercise on vacation was driven by the fact that I wanted less "lazy" time then the rest of the group. If it would not have lead to taking three and four showers a day, I probably would have worked out twice a day just to expend energy!! LOL
I exercised on my honeymoon three years ago! I would leave DH by the pool and go change and walk on the treadmill for 30 mins (waaaay pre-running days!) every evening before it was time to shower for dinner. This time I exercised at all times of the day...
