*** 12 week Challenge Jan 22nd***

Gayle- good thing about that wagon: it always rolls in the next morning to pick you up!:D You can do it! And if you have a minute, the Turkey Black bean Chili sounds fab, would you mind posting the recipe?

Lori- I'm with you on the love-hate with the scale. I am, however, in love with mine again today since it said I was down another pound. I'm sure I will hate it again tomorrowx(

Marcia ((((hugs))) for you on the loss of your friend. I know tonight will be difficult for you, will keep you in my prayers.

Amelia - some day I will be brave enough to try Imax2. That day is not today however! You go girl! I hope you get your new TM this weekend.

Kath- I hope all goes well with MIL surgery. At least you are able to get a good workout in today and save that rest day for when MIL will need you. You're a good DIL!

Gin - WTG on the wt loss!!! Woo HOO!

Kelly S. - I hope that you are not getting sick. Good luck getting LowMax in today.

Lorrie - I no longer have TTOM due to my recent hysterectomy and I STILL have yucky food days! We just have to not beat ourselves up too much when they happen and refocus.

Andrea, WTG on getting out of bed to WO! That is one of my biggest struggles esp. when that bed is so warm and cozy. :7

Today's WO was 4DS Kickbox. My legs are SORE! I love it! I really need to get on the once a week weigh in kick. I am down a total of 6.5 pounds to 130. I have 11.5 to go! I just get so aggravated when I don't see a change in the right direction every day. x(

Eats have been good: Barenaked Fit cereal for breakfast, cottage cheese, almonds, craisins and an apple for midmorning snack. Lunch is still up in the air, I will have my usual afternoon protein shake and dinner is pork chops and rice that is cooking away in the crock pot.

Stick with it, ladies! Climb back on that wagon and take control!!!!

Good morning all!! I haven't checked in lately but I'm still in this challenge! Weigh-in was yesterday and I'm down to 170. With any luck (and hard work and clean eating) I will be in the 160's next Monday...for the FIRST TIME in 7 years!!!

Gayle - been there, done that. More times than I can count!! Sometimes I think it's good to get it out of your system. Now you can move on. BTW - you look amazing! iTread #1, huh. I think I need to go check that one out...

Marcia - I'm so sorry for your loss. It must seam very surreal.

Amelia - I love Imax2! I hated it at first but once I got down the footwork it become my fav step workout. Oh, and let me help Gayle enable you on iTread workouts. FUN FUN!

Kath - sounds like you had a great workout!!!

Ladies, I am two weeks into my 4DS/running rotation and I am seeing results!! Not only on the scale but my muscles are actually showing some definition. And I was able to run 8 miles on Sunday for the first time. Here is my dilemna - I am missing other workouts like crazy!! I miss Imax2 and PUB and Gym Styles and MM and BM2 and DM...am I just a weirdo or what?

THANKS for all the support, guys!!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly-WOO HOO on the scale, girl! BE SURE to tell us WHEN it reads in the 160s! Great job!!! As for missing your other workouts, I think we’ve ALL been there too! lol I get that way too. Sometimes I will just take one workout and use a single segment just to get the taste of it again! LOL

Becca-out of curiosity, how tall are you??? I’ll share the recipe tomorrow, ok??? (and it smells soooooooooooooo yummy right now in my house!)

Kath-yes, you’re right about GETTING the support when needed. THANKS!!!!!

Andrea-so that was YOU who was dragging under the wagon with me yesterday, hugh??? Good thing we’re back on it today!!! I can just PICTURE DD in that outfit, too! lol Take pictures!

Gayle

I'm just wondering if anybody is doing a certain rotation? Or so many days cardio so many weights??? I'm trying to construct a good rotation with more cardio to lose weight and wondered if anyone had something specific that has worked for them in the past or are doing one now.

Thanks, Marcia.

Hi, guys! Had an insane day yesterday but I did read everyone's post.

Marcia - I'm so sorry to hear about your co-worker and good friend. :(

Gayle - You're still our fearless leader and role model even if you slip up. ;-) We understand you're human, not perfect - just like the rest of us. :) You'll bounce back from this binge even stronger.

Hi everyone else! Sorry I don't have time for personals this week. Worked a 12 hour day yesterday and then drove home on really bad, slippery roads. Up early again today so skipped my workout. Working on keeping eating under control and will do my workouts as I can fit them into my schedule. We're installing a very complex software package this week and it HAS to be done this week come hell or high water so that's the reason for the overtime. Hopefully I get to go to Dojo tonight and they kick my butt! }(

Have a great day everyone.

Sue

Marcia - I am doing a rotation that includes 4DS & running. (I am training for a half marathon.) Here is what I do:

Monday - 4DS Kickbox/Legs/Core
Tuesday - 3 mile interval run
Wednesday - 4DS Bootcamp/Bis&Tris/Core
Thursday - 5-6 mile speedwork + 4DS Shoulders
Friday - Off (or stretch)
Saturday - 3 mile easy run + 4DS Chest&Back/Abs
Sunday - long run

So far it's working well. My weight is dropping, my endurance is up somewhat and my body is finally getting some definition.

Another good option might be Cathe's January '08 rotation. It's actually what I'm planning to do after the half marathon in March. Plus I'm sure someone else will chime in here. :)

ETA-I just googled itreads and came up empty...what is there website?

Kelly forgive my lack of training knowledge here. When you do your 5 -6 mile speedwork what do you do? And I've always wondered just what interval running is? Go fast then slow? I work in kilometers so what share with me bc I am a bit of a math dill, length of time in your training?

My gosh, I've gotten right into this posting thing now, you guys didn't hear a THING from me for three weeks and now I'm posting all the time!

When it comes to falling off that wagon, well ladies No-One and I mean no-one could possibly do it better than I!! (its a daily let down for me, I am a shift worker, young fussy eating family and time is too short to be cooking four different meals) (Woe is moi) (joking) It is depressing, but someone said to me the other day, we are here for such a short time and shouldn't we enjoy ourselves? Yeah that fine, Mr, as long as you are happy with yourself! I've looked at you girls weights and photos and stuff and honestly, you are ALL in pretty FABULOUS shape! ALL OF YOU! I am jealous!!

Andrea ( I am the Australian Andrea, theres two of us on this 12 week thing) TTFN

Hi gals -

Gayle, thank you for posting and letting us know what's up. I can really relate and you know, I always feel like I'm the only one. Glad to know I'm not. I am telling myself today that the important thing is that I ALWAYS pick myself up and start over.

Some fun workouts planned -- I love IMax II and Low Max. I am doing GS this week and I will do 30 minutes of step after the weights tonight. Probably a CTX workout, they are just so fun and the minutes fly away. Also doesn't hurt that they really incinerate the calories!

I'm not giving up. Clean eating is within reach. I made a decision today that I will give a trial run to stop eating sugar EXCEPT for occasional, planned treats of dark chocolate. I haven't cut sugar out for a while and I think it would help.

Gayle - I am 5'6", very small frame, though. At 136, people ask me if I'm pregnant. ;( Can't wait to try that recipe.

Amelia - the pork chop recipe isn't the cleanest, but it is easy. I browned some pork chops in olive oil, threw them in the crock pot with 3 cups water, one cup brown rice, one can of cream of mushroom soup (could probably make some substitutions here, such as extra water and then some low fat sour cream and a coan of mushrooms at the end) some dried parsley and some s&p. Let it cook on low 6-8 hrs or high for 3-4.

Andrea (Aussie) - we are here for such short time and we might as well enjoy it, and all that, but here's my perspective. By "enjoying it" does that mean I eat foods that are good for me, watch too much TV, skip workouts because I don't feel like it, gain weight and feel bad? Or do I eat well, maintain a healthy weight, decrease my risk of high blood pressure, some cancers, adult onset diabetes, etc. enjoy the time I have with my kids and family and feel good about myself? My dh was diagnosed with diabetes last year because of his weight. It is an awful disease and he is choosing to ignore it (yes, he knows what can happen, he's a surgeon, 90% of the amputations he does are on diabetics). If he would just make better daily choices, he could have it under control, but he wants to do what he wants to do. That all may lead to blindness, early heart attacks, peripheral vascular disease, etc. How is that really enjoying it?!?!? I guess the point of this discertation (LOL!) is that yes, it really is worth it! Stick with it!!! You can do it!!!!! My kids are picky eaters, too. Just encourage them to eat healthy things along with the things that you know they will eat.

Marcia- I am doing a 4DS rotation with added cardio and stretch/yoga that was posted ny Lainie on the rotations board. It's working out so far and I am on week two

Andrea - I got my interval and speedwork information from coolrunning.com, although I don't follow them exactly. I really should use the term "tempo" instead of speedwork. For intervals, I do iTrains. The purpose is to run faster than your normal race speed for short periods of time (say 2 minutes) and then recover. Tempo runs are for longer distances at your race pace.

I hope that made sense! I have only been running for a year and have only begun long distance training so I'm still technically a newbie!

Hi all,
Missed posting yesterday (school holiday, kids home, me psycho)
and today DS was home sick. No workout yesterday for me, but tonight I need some kind of serious cardio fix. Not sure what it'll be yet.

Quickie personals:

Marcia - I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. It's so hard when it's unexpected. Take care (((((hugs))))

Gin - You rock! WTG on the scale news!

Gayle - Great job stopping your binge with self-talk and thanks for "confessing." We all need to see that slip-ups happen and don't have to be fatal!

That's all for now. I have to get my workout in now or never.
BBL--

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

Confessing...hanging onto the wagon by my fingernails, which are ripping even as we speak. It's been another bad snack afternoon (although not as bad as yesterday). Not sure what's up w/ this control thing - I'm sure it's some mental baggage...just have to figure out what it is so I can work thru it and LET IT GO!

ANYWAY, I keep trying...and that's really what it's all about!

Ugh! I'm stuck at work again! x( Worked 10 hours already today and no idea when I get to go home or when I'll eat dinner. Trying to avoid chocolate and caffeine. Waiting for the consultants to figure out what the problem is so we can fix it and go home! }(

I have been out of town for 10 days. DH and I did some walking, but didn't use the weights we took. The past 3 days I have been dealing with a nasty cold. I did BS for an easy workout today. At least my weight is back to where it was when I checked in a couple of weeks ago. I was able to get rid of a couple of pounds of bloat by getting back on my eating plan right away.

Thanks for "coming out" Gayle. It will probably help keep you on the wagon now that you got back on so fast. I binge occasionally too, enough so that I don't maintain any weight loss (and my weight has been slowly creeping up). You have done really well since Oct 1st with just yesterday's dietary blow-out.

Hello,

Gayle- I was like you last nite after my workout. I ate a whole totinos pizza, protein shake, and a brownie. Today I have eaten, cereal, grapefruit, and toast, Am. snack banana and Larabar, Lunch chili soup (homemade), Pm. snack tomatoes, and supper was enchiladas. Not the best but better than last nite. I will have a protein shake after workout.

Time to go do it.

I guess I should have read the thread today at work, then maybe I wouldn't have eaten what I did. I brought my nice clean food to work and it's still sitting in the frig. Instead I ate the bad food that was brought for the drug rep lunch and gorged myself. I definitely should have checked in before I left work, then I probably wouldn't have stopped and had a Sonic Blast for dinner. As for the wagon coming back by the next day and picking each of us up, I think it swung by me and I got my foot caught in a rope and am being pulled behind it flailing day after day. I wish I could figure out why this time around is so hard for me. I've done weight watchers, I've followed BFFM for a while. I know what I should be eating, so as you all are my witnesses, tomorrow will be a good day.

Jean

Good evening all! Today was LIS and HIs double cardio. Love this workout! Can you all tell!!! The 4ds cardios along with Imax 2 and LIC, DrillMax, and Bodymax 2 cardio has really made me slim down. I am losing inches I mean really losing inches. By next week I should know just how many inches I have lost. I think in one month I just about reached that goal! It almost makes the scale not matter.

Gayle.... We all fall, but it's all good. One day never destroys.

Marcia... Hugs

No you are not crazy... I love the workouts you listed too!
