Cathlete
Good morning, friends!

Jackie—that was quite brisk for the morning. Those in-between days make it tough to decide on appropriate layers. Dang those dog owners! Glad it turned out to be non-confrontational, but still, it does strike terror in your heart, wondering what Fido has in mind. How’s the hammy feel after a nice 10 miler?

Carole—Nice you were able to get some sun. DH have any luck duck hunting?...Yeah, I’m sure the guy did it on purpose because the two cars that went before him swerved to *avoid* the puddle. He swerved to *hit* the puddle. Yehhhp, I had a few choice words for him. *lol* I forgot to mention, I thought of our CA cheetahs this past week because one of our state forests has been burning, and it’s pretty close to where I work, so late in the week, we could smell and see the smoke. Of course, it was nowhere near as intense as your most recent wildfire, but it reminded me of you guys because I couldn’t imagine how you kept on running & biking in that. I bow down to you, Posh, and Christine!!
bowdown.gif

Wendy—good job getting in PUB under hurtin’ conditions…*lol* That is my kinda luck that the hose would dry up as soon as I passed. I would say we ran through most of them, but some of the later ones were a bit stronger than hose spray—it was more like fire hydrant strength. *lol* Quite a dousing. But it definitely helped.

Today I'll get to those weights & will get out there again for another run of maybe 4-5 as I move out of this "reverse taper."

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Good Morning Cheetahs! :)

How's everyone doin' this morning?

I swear my child has an eternal alarm clock ALREADY!!! He KNOWS when it's 7am. That's when he usually gets up for school and that's when he's lookin' to get up even when there is NO school! Both mornings this weekend I conned him into staying in bed for just 20 more minutes so I could get some coffee in me first, thankfully. :p

Cathy: Hmmm now there's an idea...open the hydrants during a hot race! The runners would drown! Now THAT'S a good way to train for a triathalon! ;) :D TBH I was over my hang over y'day...I was just feeling lazy and could have easily done something that required alot less exertion. :p I am proud of myself though because while I was still feeling sick I managed to straighten up the kitchen AND clean out the one cabinet where most of the food is. You'd be amazed at what you find that you didn't remember you had! Holy moly, I wanted to serve sugar with a side of olive oil for dinner just to get rid of the stuff!:p Enjoy the weights and run today!

BBL.

Good morning Cathy, Wendy and all who follow:D
I'm between work nights so only have time for a fly by post:( I'll be getting in CTX upper body split when I wake up if there is time.
Looking forward to 3 nites off after tonight:).

Hope everyone has a fabulous Sunday!!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Happy Sunday...:D...I forgot to ask you about the fires in your area, I saw them on the news earlier in the week. I hope they get a handle on them so the smoke does not get real bad. I have read it does take about 6 weeks for FULL recovery from a marathon. That gets better the more you do of course. Yes, DH did get some ducks and apparently Beau did great his first time hunting...

Wendy...YES, Tivo is the best! I am always trying to convince people to get it...:)

Shelly...have fun with CTX upper.

Today is a 15 mile run with my sister and friend. We will run here locally, so not so many steep hills!

Have a great day...:)

Hi Cheetahs!

You can call me slacker Cheetah. I decided to drive down to the Gap and buy some new clothes for school yesterday instead of working out. Will make it up today!

BBL for personals!

Weights are done. 4DS u/b mosh—'bout an hour long. I definitely had to drop back on the shoulders.

Now I'm tracking my cousin's SO in the MCM, so I'll do some work while watching (it's very cool—you can actually track the runners on a map), and hit the road later this afternoon.

Wendy—sounds like somebody's already thinkin' of conquering a tri. ;) Glad it was a light hangover for you.

Shelly—enjoy CTX u/b.

Carole—Have a great 15 miler today! That is good to know about the 6 weeks. I didn't feel AS strong during weights today, but I figured that was b/c I'd neglected them for about a month prior to Chicago. Oh, I didn't realize Beau would be DH's partner.

Gloriaanything good at The Gap?

Happy Sunday

We are back home after DD17's Regatta. And home is sweet after spending the day in the raw cold wet race site. It was worth it to see DD race and she was pleased with her boat's performance. Yesterday was an unplanned rest day, but it was no big deal . The plan was for 3 miles so I'll do them today instead.

I spoke with DH about doing a half and he is supportive, (this is a big deal to me) We agreed to keep it fairly close to home for expense and family purposes. Still there are a few options to choose from. I am going to narrow it down and try to roundup some pals to join in for moral support. ( hint) But Buffalo is out. It had poor reviews.

The previous day's posts have not been read, so my personals will be soptty.

Cathy- are you tracking via bib number? I am not able to track DD's friend without her bib number. and DD has not answered my texts/calls to get her bib number.

Shelly- Thank you again for the DVD!!!!! I did Rumble up to but not including the bag part on Friday followed by the Leg conditioning drills of KM. Great work out. Then I went to yoga class. ahhhh,

Wendy- my kids were similar to waking up in a routine and right through the weekends and vacations too. It changes trust me, when they have mega homework and growth spurts,LOL. Then sleep becomes a proirity!

Wendi & Jackie- how are your hamstrings?

Karen- are you on the mend from your virus and calf strain?

Carole- have a great run with sis today! What is the latest on Mom?

OH, DD just texted me her BF's bib number. I am headed over to the MCM site to track her. I sent her a balloon bouquet on Friday for good luck! hHe was sooooo apreciative!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Carole - Glad you got to enjoy the sun yesterday. Temps will drop here this week. BRRRR!!! I heard CA had a couple of earthquakes this morning with no reports of damage or injury. Have a good 15 miler today.

Cathy - What terrified me most about the dogs was the second dog was unfamiliar. Then, they came from out of nowhere. The hamstrings are feeling pretty good. I'm a little stiff this morning but other than that I feel good. Glad you got the weights in today. Have a good run.

Wendy - Laughing at you conning DS. LOL!! He's gotten use to that wake up time and he's having none of that sleeping late on weekends stuff. :D

Shelly - Enjoy your workout today. What will you do with yourself during your 3 days off? I'm sure I already know the answer to that question.

Gloria - Did you find any great bargains at the Gap? Like the store for jeans.

Judy - Congratulations to DD team! I'm sure they did well. Don't envy you being out in the cold. Hamstrings feel good! Good luck to DD in the marathon today. Saw the start of it.

Today is a rest day. Had a good night's sleep. Needed that. Need to get ready for church. Enjoy your Sunday.

Happy Sunday All!

Dallas – Have you checked out some of the less “tight” tights? I know you can find them. I think Title 9 Sports or Activa sports has them. How was the trip to the in-laws with costume? How fun!

Cathy – Good job on the 4.25 miles today. Don’t you love the idiots who drive through the puddles withouth thinking? Grrrr… It was hot here today, too. I think it’s going to be cooler today, but not a lot. I certainly did enjoy the night in. It’s been wild around here lately. I’m making a nice chili tonight. Non-veg. :D Enjoy your run and “reverse taper”! Too cool that you can track the runners on the internet with the MCM!

Wendy – Glad you finally felt better! I hate waking up feeling like that. There are cons to having DH do things with me, as I can become a slave to his schedule. But that’s okay. I do enjoy a nice hike – and this is a tough one.

Jackie – Recipe turned out fabulous! I really enjoy it. Wow, it was cold there yesterday, wasn’t it? I’m glad you were warm! Great job on 10.25 miles! Sorry about the dog keeping you company. At least they are not chasing you. Sounds like they think it’s cool you run.

Carole – so glad to hear you mom is much more comfy and will be able to enhance her recovery now that she’s out of rehab. Will someone come to Karen’s to continue rehab work? The recipe is great – I highly recommend it.

Shelly – Glad you stopped by! Enjoy CTX Upper!

Gloria – enjoy your workout today. I love the Gap!

Judy – Glad to hear you’re home and dry! Enjoy your three miler today! So sweet of you to sent DD’s BF’s a balloon bouquet! :D

Oh, first off, I have to say – YAY PENN STATE!!! I never attended PSU, but I grew up a fan, and lived in State College for several years. I’m a huge fan. It’s nice to see Joe Pa at the age of 82  with such a great team! Okay, now that I have that off my chest - yesterday was a hike with DH and Jimmy. I enjoyed it. Today will be a bike ride. I’m going to do a shorter hilly ride. Pretty much I’m going to ride to the fun of it. I’ll alternate longer rides with shorter ones. I also wanted to say that last night’s dinner was incredible! Wow! The eggplant melted in the mouth and the mushrooms were so good. I did add a sprinkling of parmesan, too – which was tasty. :D

Just heard on the news about the Original Mountain Marathon in England - it's a 2 day event (marathon means something different in Europe - not necessarily 26.3 miles). They had to cancel the race because of heavy rain and severe flooding and many marathoners are missing. *sends prayer for safe return of the missing marathoners*

News Update

By Rob Howard This a brief news update - a full story will follow as soon as possible.

By this morning most of the floods had subsided, roads were open and passable with care, and the competitors were making their way back to Seathwaite.

During the night they had sheltered in various places, including the school in Cockermouth, youth hostels, and farm houses. Some slept in the barn where registration took place and there was plenty of food on offer at HQ.

Despite media reports of over 1000 competitors being 'unaccounted for' the true facts as of 02.00 in the morning were that 44 competitors had not been located, and by 12.00 this was down to just 8 pairs. (At any normal OMM there are usually this number not checked in after the race has finished at around 17.00 and more often than not they have set off home without checking in.)

Every effort is being made to check on these remaining competitors, but they could be walking back in.

The logistical exercise of getting the cars off the parking field was mostly complete by lunch time, with tractors towing and teams of racers pushing vehicles out, and it is likely those who have left will now have rung any friends and family worried by the media frenzy.

Good Afternoon Girls.

Just wanted to check in before heading for a lil' snooze-a-roonie.;)

We just got back from taking DS and DD (Dear Dog, LOL) to the park. DS played on the jungle gyms and DH and DD went for a walk and then hung out at the jg's with me while Joey played. We were there for about an hour. Perfect day for it. It's simply beautiful out there today! :)

This morning ended up being a no go on the CCPP plan as I had some technical difficulties getting it uploaded to my Ipod. I'll try again this week at some point.

That being said I created my OWN CCPP. :) Here's what I did:

CC#3 warm up and first steady state
CC#4 Challenge # 1
2 min walking recovery
CC#5 Challenge # 1
2 min walking recovery
CC#6 Challenge # 1
2 min walking recovery
CC#7 Challenge # 1 (1/2 of it-using the last few minutes as my cool down)

Total Time: 72 minutes Total Mileage: 6.5

Yeah, it kicked my arse HARD! Lotsa hills and lotsa speed. YEOWZA! Needless to say I don't feel bad AT ALL for missing out on CCPP today although it was probably even HARDER then what I did....:)

Ah well....time to hit that bed...I'll be back a bit later to catch up on personals!

Later Girlies!:D

Judy—hope you enjoyed your 3 miler. That was so nice of you to send a bouquet to DD’s friend.

Jackie—I know, I go on alert when I just hear them barking. After that incident with the Doberman, I am afraid they will charge out of nowhere. Glad you were able to get a good night’s sleep.

Christine—I must admit, I pay no attention to college sports. But I’m happy you’re happy! J I'm glad the recipes were a smashing success. Cheese is a wonderful thing. Enjoy your ride for the fun of it. I hope those marathoners are OK.

Wendy—our nappin’ cheetah J—good improvising in light of the uploading issues. Happy zzz's.

I kept it to 4.25 again today, though a different route. Absolutely gorgeous out there. Did one of my famous ankle turns (that didn’t exactly tickle J), but nothing could disturb this groove! Time to stretch, shower, and get back to work.

PS...Cousin’s SO hauled heiney in the MCM, finishing in 4:36.

the 3 miler went well. avg pace 9:15! and 4 hills :)

Cathy- Oh dear,is your ankle OK?

I've been looking for half marathons in NY/PA in the spring. Wendy did you say you were doing the Long Island marathon? That date (May 3) is good, but it is farther that I had in mind. However, I might be able to stay with DD in Manhattan, to minimize expenses.

***DD's BF finished the MCM in 4:53:33 chip time. DD said she was still smiling at miles 17.5 & 19!!

Ok we got in great yard work this morning leaf clean up and storing the patio furniture in the basement for the winter. Now I have traditional pasta sauce simmering and will add calamari andshrimp to it later for dinner.

Judy—WTG—great pace on a hilly run!! WOO-HOO for DD’s friend. Fantastic finish. That course did NOT look easy! My ankle’s fine—I’m such a klutz, I do this fairly often. It might be a little sore for a couple of days, but no big deal. I just have to pay closer attention now that the ground is covered with leaves...Oh my goodness, tonight’s dinner sounds fabulous.

I have not stepped on a scale in 6 weeks, but I’m happy to report I’m down 10 lbs. Yay!

Wendy – Great job on your CCPP creations! I don’t know if CCPP is actually harder. That sounds like a pretty tough workout!! Sounds like a fun time at the park with DH, DS and DD (maybe we should call them DP – dear puppy – to avoid confusion :p).

Cathy – CONGRATS on the 10 pound weight loss!!! Oh, I hope the ankle is okay! I am not much of a college football fan, except for Penn State. I’m so happy to see them playing well. Thanks for being happy because I am! I agree – cheese is a wonderful thing. Funny – all of that bloating? I increased my water intake – and made sure to count each day, and it seems to be gone. Weird. Guess I wasn’t drinking enough water!

Judy – Way to go on the run! DD’s BF did excellent! WAY TO GO! Your pasta sauce sounds wonferful!

Well, I said it was going to be a fun ride, well, it was. I got out and climbed a few hills, then realized I wanted to climb more. So instead of riding down the mountain when I came to the spot where I met up with highway 9 that goes up the Santa Cruz mountains, I turned and rode UP! I did not ride the whole thing – just about half way up. My climbing felt great and I was actually riding faster than the last time I tackled it. I wanted to go to the top, but I was under time constraints. Oh well. Next weekend, before the Diwali party, I’m climbing it all! :D

Gloria...way to go shopping!!

Cathy...Well 4DS weight work is very tough!! DH did go with his buddy but it was Beau's 1st time hunting with both of them. Great job for your cousins SO in the MCM. Sorry about the ankle turn. I do that sometimes on trails. Congrats on the 10 lbs down!
5.gif

Judy...Mom has moved in with my sister Karen (who I run with). Not sure how long she will be there but for now she is happy! Great job to for DD's BF in the MCM! Always a good sign smiling at those distances...:)

Jackie..Yes my FIL called from Southern Cal and wondered if we felt any earthquakes. I didn't feel any myself so I will go check the earthquake site. Glad you are enjoying your rest day. I slept in a bit too.

Christine...Yes, Mom has a PT who comes twice a week to continue therapy. Glad to hear the recipes turned out so good! My prayers for finding those missing marathoners..Way to go kicking butt on those hills during your ride.

I ended up going 15.5 miles. Karen decided to tack on some more miles when we ran back to her house and my oldest sis was visiting Mom!! Lucky for me, I just ran home...:D..Off to watch some more FB.

Cathy- Hi Five on 10 # lost! you are lucky, I have friends who went down on twisted ankles this summer running and both of them fractured their ankles.

Christine- sounds like you had a good workout! good idea to do the whole hill on the weekend of celebration with good food!

Carole- LOL you just ran home! Apparently it was the most attractive choice. Did Beau do well hunting with DH ?

Hello Peeps.

So any Cheetahs in the Tri-State area watch the news this weekend and hear about a double murder of a couple in East Brunswick by their own son? My mom knew them. The couple owned a trucking company that my mom's company would use to cover some runs. My mom is beside herself that this happened. She is not sleeping well. I feel bad for her. :(

Enough of that...too depressing....

Anywho....

Carole: You crack me up with the ways you figure out to avoid your oldest sis. Too funny! :D Glad you enjoyed your 15.5 today.

Christine: Sounds like a fun ride for you today. Yeah, DP is probably better then DD. I'll use that from now on. I'm glad dinner turned out to be as yummy as it sounded. It's great when a first time recipe is all you had hoped it would be. I've been dissapointed several times myself so I tend to stick with things I KNOW will be good. Yikes about the marathoners in England. How scarey. I hope everyone ends up being okay.

Judy: I considered the Long Island marathon but am opting for the New Jersey marathon the same weekend instead. TNT is affiliated with NJ which is why I chose it. Picking a race can be hard. I know picking a marathon has been tough for me. Keep looking around. You'll find something that will work for you and perhaps you'll have some Cheetah company too!!! Congrats to DD's BF! Awesome mary time for her! WOO HOO!:)

Cathy: Wow, your cousin's SO did AWESOME at MCM as well! Congrats on the weight loss. Sorry about the ankle though it seems you are A-okay. That's good. Yeah, I love my naps. I just can't take long ones. Y'day's hour nap was long for me but I really needed it. Today was a quickie 20 minute one. Felt good nonetheless. :) Nope, no tri for this girl either. I'm a TERRIBLE swimmer! LOL

Jackie: Hope you enjoyed your rest day. I had tight/painful hammies the other day. I meant to roll them but never got around to it. They feel fine now though so that's good.

Well that about wraps it up for me!

BBL or in the morning...I can't believe it's Sunday night already!!!!

Hi Cheetahs!

Cathy: You really worked it today with the weights and run! Awesome! I did score some goodies at the Gap. Two pairs of trousers and 3 shirts. Thank you for sharing the marathon pics!

Dallas: The mock election will be a great experience for the kids. I can't remember when it is time to apply for NYC again. Some time next year.

Shelly: Enjoy your up and coming three nights off!

Jackie: Sounds like a nice rest day for you! I did get some great bargains at the Gap. See post to Cathy above. I only spent $100!

Christine: Those recipes you posted look great! I think the one I like the most is the one with eggplant. I'll be making that one soon! Thanks! I was thinking today I need to pull the reigns on my food intake. I usually gain 10 pounds over the winter and I want to avoid that this year.

Wendy: GREAT run today! The weather here has been crappy. We had a mix of sunshine, rain, wind and hail. Now it is just flat cold. Living in MI you have to be ready for anything!

Judy: How cool you will be doing a half!

Carole: Wow, great long run for you! I do think I am so hungry since I am running more and fitting in the weights. I always gain weight in the winter even though I workout more. I just eat and eat. DH and I said we will work on our food choices this winter. I just love cheese and comfort food unfortunately.

Today was a 5 mile run. I am not sure if I can check in tomorrow. My favorite aunt from Maryland is visiting my mom. After my staff meeting DH and I will drive down to see them. It is a half an hour drive. I think the last time I saw her was when I was in high school! We have communicated via snail mail. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I am not a family person for a lot of reasons. I have not seen my mom in months. It will be an interesting experience. My aunt is a runner, so at least we might have something to talk about.

Have a good night everyone!
