••CHEETAHS•• Kickin' off December

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, everyone! :)

Linda—I had to chuckle about DH & the helicopter. Ahh, boys and their toys. Hope he didn’t do any damage. My cousin’s SO hasn’t run much since MCM, either. Not so into it right now, she says.

Jackie—Glad you enjoyed some b’day festivities along with some vegging.

Wendi—ooh, how fabulous you had a shortened work day—just what you hope for! Great calorie burn. Guess you surprised your body.

My schedule is going to be really wacky for the next month, so instead of shooting for a four-week rotation that will likely get jumbled, I’m going to operate on a week-by-week basis. Realistically, my goals are to fit in time-efficient workouts at least 4 days a week and do damage control food-wise. The standard Monday rest day is carrying over.

Have a great day!

Good Morning.

Sorry I never got back here last night. I was too tired.

The rotation calls for KPC today. I thought about switching today and tmrw and therefore doing B&G this morning instead but I think I'll take a pass on the pain for the day and go the cardio route. :p My calves are quite sore from all of the jumping I did y'day with BC cardio so I may have to do a little modifying if I start to cramp but I'll deal with that when I get to it....

Gloria: Are you greek? I ask cause Spanakopita sounds like something greek that I've eaten before and it's really good!:) Half a bag of chips? Oh yeah, I could do that! DH melted cheese on tortilla chips and ate them with salsa on wed night when we were playin' GH. Not only did I help him eat that but I also proceeded to eat a ton of the plain tortilla chips right out of the bag too!

Christine: I hear ya on too much relaxing of the diet lately. I started buckling down y'day in hopes of losing atleast most of the weight I've gained by Christmas! Hope you and Jimmy had a good walk y'day.

Laura: So how hot does it typically get where you live? How much more of the X does your hubby have to go? Is this is his first time doing it? My hubby started the X but never got very far. I'm hoping he'll try again soon.

Posh: You know, it's okay to post even if you don't have time for personals, silly. :) So unfortunately I lost my Fitday program when my computer crashed which means I'll have to start from scratch (with entering foods) since I was using the CD program and not the one online. In addition, I let my Cathe nutrtion program membership lapse since I wasn't using it which means if I re-join I've probably lost my info there too. This is not what you call motivating me to track my food. LOL

Wendi: Glad you had a short day at work y'day. It was miserable, wasn't it? It was strictly rain for us but man was it comin' down! Glad you were able to get in a killer work out! Great calorie burn, baby! :D

Linda: LMAO at the big kid flying the rc helicopter! Gotta love men, huh? :D Yes, I usually do turn things around with my eating quickly but this time I did not. It's been months and the damage is done. :( Now it's time to reverse that damage once and for all!!!!!

Jackie: Glad you had a nice Birthday. Nope, no logging food for me right now. Even when I was using the Cathe nutrition program, towards the end I was STILL eating crap! I was simply outta control!!!!

Cathy: Good idea to lose the rotation for now and just do what you can until life slows down a bit for you. Glad you enjoyed the movie. I saw the coming attractions for that at some point and was interested in seeing it too.

Well, looks like I'm all caught up for now. Better get my arse in gear and start my work out now!

BBL!

Morning Cheetahville!

Soryy I never made it back last night...just had too much to do errand wise and then I crashed. Getting going on my workout here in just a second...I *think* it's going to be LIC cardio blast followed by BC cardio (thanks for the idea Wendy;)). I should have time afterward to catch up on personals.

TTFN!

Monday Musings

Mondays can be a wake up to reality. Mondays put our feet on the ground and veggies on our mouth. Mondays after a holiday weekend are especially realistic. Today will be a very real day.

Cathy- Your Monday has started out well with a plan you can live with in the WO and food consumption department. If we all do what we can and minimize damage in the food intake area we can bring a little Monday with us every day. How does the ITB feel today?

Wendy- Happy Monday! Nice going on getting that WO started first thing. It doesn't matter what we put in our mouth yesterday. We have today to make it right. The dinner on Saturday was nice. I ended up in the mood for calamari and they only had the fried kind on salad. It was worth it!

Carole- $200 is not bad and there is hopefully a lot less stuff in the garage and Mom's house now. How did your long run go yesterday with sis? When Iran with DD on Friday, it was first time I had run with someone in a very long time. It was a very nice change.

Gloria- I have done the chips-in- the- car. As I said to Wendy, yesterday is history. Today is Monday! the day of reality. We can make healthy choices.

Christine- Did you have fun decorating? We are not even thinking about it yet! We did however get the family picture done. I have a rule, that I try to get all the gifts wrapped as I buy them and decorate after the shopping is done. This gets is not reality this is the ideal situation. Still I did a fair amount of wrapping already.

Laura- I had no idea it was so hot in Uganda. Are you there permanently or just for a work related assignment?

Thomassina- Did Amanda make it back to school safely? She did well scoring a position at JCPenny. IA about the craziness of trampling a fellow person to death over a stupid sale. This reminds me of how pagan Christmas has become and it is disgusting.

Wendi- Hey, it is great that the crappy weather gave you a window of time to workout in! We had the freezing rain all day. DD@# was stuck in our airport; her flight was 4 hours delayed. But she did make it back finally late last night.

time to post even though I am not done here. Linda, Jackie ( Birthday girl plus one day!) and Karen and Brighton I hope to be back.... no proof reading :confused::confused::confused:

Howdy!

So I opted to do BC cardio first, then LIC cardio and I'm glad I did. BC got my HR up so I was able to keep it up with LIC:D (I usually modify LIC to make it high impact to get the HR up there but didn't need to today). Nice little workout! Perhaps, *if*, *IF* I get out of work early today I'll even tack on a short little run just so that I can still call myself a Cheetah:eek:. Yeah, I have to work today (normal day off) cuz of the shortened day yesterday:mad: but I really don't see how I'm supposed to ride in a ring that I'm sure is going to look more like a lake/skating pond than a ring:rolleyes:. Grrr......

Cathy - BTW, I forgot to mention that I love your new avatar:). I think you've got a relly sensible plan ahead of you for this month...as you always do. Nice workout yesterday!

Wendy - I am 100% with you re: tighter pants and cleaning up the eating:confused:. I just got into a pseudo-argument with DSO about this the other day. He says I look fab (thanks sweetie:D) but *I* know I've put on a couple and it goes right to the midsection so none of my jeans fit. I call it a wake up call, he thinks I'm being to anal/hard on myself. I'm not about to go buy new jeans a size bigger, either:rolleyes:. So, I'm certainly up for cleaning up the eating, too! Glad you didn't have to deal with dinner at SIL...I'm sure that was a bit of a relief in the eating department. Have, ahem *fun* with B&G today:p.

Judy - I love your Monday musings this morning:)...so very true. Uggh, sorry to hear that DD had travel issues but am happy that she got home safe! You sound like you're going to be very busy today.

Carole - I hope you had a great run yesterday...wow, 16-18 miles! Don't I wish:). Glad the garage sale went well for you. Hope you enjoyed some good FB this long weekend:D.

Gloria - Ooooh, yummy, I LOVE spanakopita...in fact I love most Greek food:D:D!!! It sounds like a couple of us are feeling the effects of a bit of overindulgence...but you're absolutely right....today's a new day!

Christine - Glad you enjoyed Bolt...I think I may actually want to see that one. I haven't been that thrilled with the offerings in the theaters these days:(. How did the hike go? Did you end up running any of it? I'm sure your tree is going to be beeoootiful when your'e done.

Laura - Thanks for the description of Uganda...it sounds like a gorgeous place!

Posh - You sound like me...sometimes I only have time to read, not to do personals, so I feel bad posting at all if it's only going to be a fly by:confused:. ITA regarding the ever-increasing number of these stampede incidents...just STUPID! Great that DD will be able to find a job quickly...nice! OH NO about the lights last year:confused:. I'd be happy to head out there and do a little light stringing for ya:p. I've got my "process" down to a science so it only takes about 2 hours to get em all "up"...checking for blown bulbs on all the strands first, well, that takes a little more time:(.

Shelly - Yuppers, Judy and I (and possible her DD?) are doing the Celebrate Life Half in Rock Hill, NY March 8 (9?...don't remember now). It's the same one I was shooting for this past spring when I had the PF issues. Want to join us;):D???? Ewwww, lime green in the bedroom? You know, you should have taken before-after pics so we all could have had a good laguh at the color pallet in that house lol.

Jackie - Fantastic job on that 11 miler the other day....wooohooo!!!! You are gonna have a fantastic race! Glad you had a nice day yesterday! Yummy, Mexican, drool! Yeah, IA that fried ice cream is overrated *shrugs*. So what Christmas movies did you veg with?

Linda - Great job on HSC and the run. I haven't done HSC in ages either...will have to break that one out next week:D. Oh gosh, I hope DH didn't do any serious damage with his new toy:eek:!

Dalas and Karen - Continued prayers for you and your loved ones. {{{HUGS}}}

Hi Brighton! Hope you had a nice weekend!

Yikes, gotta get it movin here! Hopefully I'll be back sooner than later:p. Have a great day ladies!

Shelly—I don’t know yet if my course will be flat or hilly. This is a really “unofficial” race. There are several of us who like to run, and so we’re kind of organizing our own event. There are sometimes organized events here in Uganda, but they don’t happen with enough regularity. So we often organize our own events. There was a ½ marathon last year while I was in the States. DH has participated in several biking events. And together we did an Adventure Race several years ago. That one was pretty organized, with one team made up of US Marines from the Embassy. They were impressive to watch!! They finished the 10K run WAY ahead of any of the other teams. But I bet some of you Cheetahs could've kept up. :D

Wendi—I am amazed that you would “add on” to Imax 2. I am always doing the “happy dance” at the end of interval 9 with Cathe. :p

Wendy—What kind of coffee do you drink? We have AWESOME coffee here because they grow it. Sometimes we go down to buy beans, and they have JUST been roasted and packaged and there is steam in the bag.

It never gets TRULY hot here (like India, see post below to Christine). 95 is about our max. But there is no central AC anywhere, just open, breezy windows. So when it’s 95 outside, it’s 95 in your house. We do have a window AC for our bedroom, which is a lifesaver. And we use LOTS of fans throughout the house.

DH has only one or two weeks left with Tony. He has enjoyed it and seen good results. He and his buddy have gotten interrupted because of various trips, and they haven’t been super-strict with the diet. So they haven’t seen the results that you do in the pictures. But they’ve both been very happy with it. His buddy is going to do it again after New Years. DH is going to run the 1/2 m with me and then do STS after the ½.

BTW, I loved your post on TG about "let's be realistic" about eating. What a good philosophy. Sometimes I can freak myself out with rules and rigidity! :)

Jackie—Happy Birthday. I was trying to figure out whether it was Sat or Sun. My dad’s b-day is Nov 30.

Judy—I’ve had some foot issues that interfered with my cardio, too. I worked with a physical therapist and she gave me some exercises to do that really helped. In my case, the muscles in the outside of my foot weren’t flexing strongly enough, and I was getting an uneven contraction, which made me land weird on the sole of my foot. And was really painful. So glad to have gotten that worked on. But I know how foot pain can interfere! Hope you get some answers that will allow you to run the ½ in March.

We've been in Uganda for 10 years and don't have an immediate plan to leave. We're with a mission organization, and my DH's job description just changed this year. So we've got a little while left in front of us. We enjoy the slower pace here and feel like we have a good life for our kids.

Posh—I’m not a vegetarian, but I’ve been doing more and more vegetarian cooking. I have a book I love called Vegan Planet. I’m up for more vegan/vegetarian recommendations!

Christine—You have family in Delhi? I’ve been to India twice, but south and central. Once we were there in December, and that wasn’t bad. The next time we went in June and the monsoon was starting. I thought I would melt! It was 120 degrees in the shade.

Carole—I’m about to do a garage sale, too. I don’t know how I have so much stuff to get rid of, but I’ve been working on de-cluttering, and I’ve got piles of stuff that needs to go!

Cathy—What do you teach? We have a sort of home-school coop here to take care of our own kids. I’m teaching several classes for my DS8. In the past I’ve also taught the high school language arts class. When I was working on my masters, I taught French. So I’ve had a variety of teaching experiences.

Gloria—Same for you—what do you teach? Also, are you a hunter, or just folks in your family? DH was a hunter when we lived in the US and still tries to work in a hunt whenever we’re visiting the States.

Gloria and Linda –I love chips, too. I could definitely eat half a bag on the way home from the store. DH doesn’t even LIKE them, which is so irritating. Actually, over here it works to my advantage, because if we get some in a care package, I don’t have to compete with him. They’re all mine! (Insert evil laugh of glee).

Karen—Blessings to you in your difficult situation right now!

Brighton—My SIL used to live in SLC. I’ve been there many times. I think Utah is just gorgeous.

Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm still trying to get to know everyone and figure out who the regulars on the thread are! ;)

Forgot to add:

Cathy--thanks so much for the training links. Those will be very helpful to compare!

Good Morning All!

Laura – Uganda sounds gorgeous! Thanks for sharing all the info. Yes, I have family in India (DH is Indian). I’ve been to Delhi a few times, but always in the winter, which is still pretty warm! I hear it’s horrid in the summer. DH does not want us to visit then. (He does not like to visit then, either – he’s now a spoiled American, too). Are you enjoying living in Uganda? Are you from the States?

Posh – I have to agree with you on the shoppers! It’s absolutely amazing to me that that poor guy was trampled to death! How could you NOT know you are stepping on a person?! What a sad society we have become. Great to hear your DD has a job offer already! Gotta love it! Our walk was nice – no mean dogs. :p

Cathy – nice workout! I like MM! I literally took Jim on a 5 mile walk. No running, just walking – it was a nice change. :p Sorry the ITB is bothering you! Those are a pain to deal with, too. How was Role Models? Sounds like you have a nice sensible plan! I love how you always manage to get in what works for you!

Wendi – good job with 4DS! I hit Bath and Bodyworks, too – got DD19 a snuggly blankie from there. :D Nope, did not run a step (well, except to cross a street or two) of the walk. Jimmy and I just enjoyed the slower pace. I feel I’m always rushing – sometimes it’s nice just to enjoy. :)

Linda – I know!! The long weekend is over. :( I was thinking of doing HSC today. I’m still not 100% sure yet! But I do like that one!

Wendy – good job with the eating – I am getting mine under control too! Yep, we’ll work to get the weight off by Christmas so we can gain it again and work to get it off in January! But, that’s better than just letting it go and having to lose 2-3 times as much in Jan! Wow, sounds like a killer workout you did yesterday!

Jackie – sounds like you had a great birthday! Good! You deserve it! Fried ice cream – eh? Yeah, that sounds like something I could live without.

Judy – love your way of looking at today as a real day! Nice attitude! I like to put the tree up and get everything done that way, then I get into the Christmas spirit and shop.

My shoulder is finally feeling better now, so I think I’ll do a circuit. Those are always fun. I’m feeling awake and ready to go, but I don’t want to go back to work! :D Oh well, it’s only 3 weeks, then I pretty much have 2 weeks off, which will be nice (I have to work the 29th and 30th, but I think I can work those from home). I got a lot of online shopping done, so I’m feeling ahead of the ball. The house is decorated and man is it nice to be sitting here looking at a pretty Christmas Tree! I love this time of the year!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I was happy about the Garage sale. The best was the last 3 people as we decided to just give away the stuff. The appreciation of those people who you knew were low on money about brought tears to me eyes. The best part of the whole Garage sale day...:)...Hope the ITB gets better soon. Good job with MM upper, core and EXT work. Good idea to do your upcoming workouts week by week with your busy schedule. Enjoy your rest day.

Wendy...You know, we had stuff marked down so low for the Garage sale, that no one really haggled any prices til later in the day, and it might have only been 2 people, if I remember right! These are the hardest times for weight control! One thing that helps me after a bad night is getting in more water the next day. I try for at least 30 ounces before lunch. Killer workout yesterday..Have fun with KPC today.

Judy...We did clear out a lot of stuff and the remains go to the dump. The run yesterday was great. I am happy my times, even for the long runs are getting faster and I am feeling stronger on the hills. I like to run alone mostly, but the 3 of us (me, my sis and our BFF) have done our long runs together for about 16 years!!

Wendi...Good job with BC and LIC cardio! I did have a nice run yesterday. Did not get to watch as much FB as I wanted, but I was okay with that as there is always tonight!!

Laura...thanks re: my 16 miles (I ended up going 18)..:)...When I marathon train. I do generally get in a lot of miles. How interesting Dec, Jan & Feb are so hot there. You guys get in a lot of rain. That is nice the temps don't go higher than 95. We get over 100 many days in the summer...yuk...:)..Cool your DH does P90X, I have tried with my DH to no avail...LOVE the Vegan Planet, in fact I just bought 3 more cookbooks from the same author..I have gotten some decluttering done here with DH gone, but not as much as I wanted...

Christine...How as the walk with Jimmy yesterday? I feel wiped out from all the stuff we have done at Mom's house. I am sure the 18 miles added to that! Sounds like you are ahead of the X-mas season. I am impressed. I seem to be more like the Grinch myself. Enjoy your circuit.

Jackie...Fried Ice Cream sounds interesting. Glad you and DBF had a nice Mexican meal. Did you get in some good X-mas movie watching?

Linda...you guessed it, I am beat from all the work at Moms in the last 2 weekends. Sorry to hear Patty is under the weather. Hope she feels better soon. Good workout yesterday...LMBO about your DH and the helicopter. Hope he didn't break anything!!

Gloria...my DH and I had some Spanakopita lasy year on my B-day when we went into Oregon for the weekend. It was very tasty!

Posh...It did actually get to about 80 yesterday! But the run was during the cooler temps and went well. Thanks for reminding me to clean my carpets..:)

I did miss some FB yesterday as I had to take Sadie to the Vet. It appeared to me she had a bladder infection, and I did not think waiting til today to take her would be smart. I have the greatest Vet as he came in just for me (yes, there is an after hour fee!) She is on antibiotics now and seems to be feeling much better...:)

Time for a vent...My sisters and I (minus PITA) have done so much work at Mom's getting her stuff out, the Garage sale etc, without merely a "Thank You" from my Mom. I heard my Mom being quite nasty to my sister Karen (who she lives with) last night. I knew I had to leave before I blew. I certainly don't mind the work but appreciation does wonders. I am sure my mouth will not stay closed for long on this...

Today I am doing 4DS sho, tri's and bi's, some abs and a 5-6 mile run.

Have a great day...:)

Good morning Cheetahs! This will be a quickie today. Have to play catch up from being off last week.

Cathy - Workout plans sound good for December. Need to figure out what I'll do after my half on Saturday.

Wendy - Did you stay with your rotation pretty well for Nov?

Judy - Thanks for the BD wishes. Hope you get everything done today. Glad DD made it back safely.

Wendi - Good workout today! I tried to watch Home Alone 4 last night but between the phone ringing and it just wasn't as great as the first ones, I didn't see very much of it. I did watch Dennis the Menace. Guess you can tell I didn't stretch my mind too much. :p

Laura - Thanks for the BD wishes. How nice that your dad and I share a birthday. There was a lady at church that had the same birthday too.

Christine - Glad the shoulder is feeling better. Enjoy your circuit workout!

Carole - How nice that you could make someone's day special with the garage sale. Hope your mom realizes what she has in her daughters to take care of her and other things for her. Enjoy your workout.

I did 20 minutes of iClimb #18 40 minutes and 4DS Back & Biceps premix and LIS core. This week will be easy runs for me and no LB workouts.

Gotta run! Enjoy your day!

Good Afternoon.

Well I finished KPC with flying colors this morning. No modification needed though my calves are *ON FIRE* now! LOL I had to omit the final kicking and punching combo in order to shorten the work out a bit so I wouldn't be late dropping Joey off at school. I also didn't do abs. Apparently I was supposed to omit abs y'day but do them today. Oh well. What I did actually worked out better as I would not have had time for abs this morning anyway. :)

I am doing well my eating today. Let's hope it's a continuing trend. I weighed myself this morning and it's officially 4-4.5 pounds I need to get rid of by Christmas!!!

My belly is bloated today. That must be what I get for eating healthy, huh? GREAT!

Jackie: Nice work out today. Yeah, I finished the November rotation. I subbed in runs for alot of the cardio but did most of the weight work as written. Let's see how I do this month. I am changing 1 weight work out a week right off the kick as I've decided to do a full body kb work out in place of the weekly circuit that's in the rotation. So what day is your race? Are you excited? I know you'll do great!:D

Carole: I know I should drink more water. I used to drink alot more then I do now. I think I got tired of spending the day in the bathroom! :D Along with the better eating I will try to up my water intake. I was thinking about saving a gallon container from the bottled water I buy for DH and refilling it and making it my goal to drink one entire gallon each day. That was really nice that you gave away the stuff at the end to those last 3 people and it's so worth it when they show sincere gratitude for it. :)

Christine: You have 2 weeks off at the end of the year? NICE! Enjoy it! I decided to get the weight off by Christmas precisely because I did not want to make it even worse with all of the Christmas and New Years treats I'll be indulging in. If I can start back down at my "happy" weight and then I gain a couple pounds, it's no big deal but if I stay at this weight and gain more I'll be miserable! :( I must say though that the holiday weight never stays on long if I get right back to good habits once the holiday(s) is over.

Laura: Wow the coffee sounds amazing! I love Gevalia. I have a subscription to it online. It gets delivered to my door once a month. As a matter of fact I get a coffee from a different country (so they say anyway) delivered to me once a month. I've gotten something called Harrah. It's supposed to be from Ethiopia. It was pretty good! I also enjoy Dunkin when I'm on the run. :) 95 is pretty hot to me! I don't like running outside when it's below 50 or over 75. :p

Wendi: Are your DSO and my DH related!? OMG, we have been having the same "argument" for 2 weeks now! I swear, men just don't get it!!!! So thankfully I wised up and did NOT do B&G today afterall. Ofcourse that means that I *have* to do it tmrw... Great work out today! BC cardio is a goodie and doing it twice really packed a punch for me even though it's such a short work out! Nice job doing it before LIC to get the HR up there.

Judy: Glad you enjoyed the calamari at the restaraunt. I've never had it. I can't get myself to even try it. It wierds me out cause I know what it is. LOL

BBL!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Oh Carole - I'm sorry your mom is not being a gracious as she should be about all of the help you and your sisters (well, 3 of you) have given her!! That has to be tough. I love hearing that you're such a great puppy owner!! Nice of you to take Sadie to the vet when you knew she had an infection! The walk yesterday was really nice. Jimmy and I both enjoyed it!!

Jackie - thanks! The shoulder was just very sore from having been over worked. I did use light weights on it today, though, just to be sure. Nice workout for you today. I'll bet you're getting stoked for your race!!

Wendy - oh don't you hate that bloated feeling the first few days of eating healthy? It's kind of "Darned if you do, darned if you don't!" I'm with you on the gaining MORE weight. I'm going to be good the next few weeks, too. Then I'll indulge a bit. :p

I did another mish mosh. I mixed Power Hour with Gin Miller's Simply Intervals. It worked really well, actually. The interval segments are just long enough to get the ole heart rate up without pushing too hard, and Power Hour is just plain fun. I'm feeling normal again. Feels good.

Christine: Nice work out today. Glad you are feeling better. I'm STILL not at 100%. AAARGH!!!! Yeah, I figure Christmas will be my "reward" for eating well for the next few weeks! ;)

Just poppin' in to say that my food intake was great today! I didn't faulter except for 1/2 a glass of wine and that's just fine in my book. I needed it for "mood control"! LOL Anyway, I'm very pleased and hope this will continue up to Christmas so that I can fit into my jeans properly once again!

Off to bed with me! Good night! :)
