    <---sleepless on the east coast.

<--pops back on after reading Maeghan's story <--thinks it sounds horribly scarey! <--has definitely heard of kids having seizures when they have high fevers--at least from what I've read, it's supposedly quite common <--hopes that helps!

    My new workout space!

One good thing that came out of moving is that my DBF insisted on setting up my workout space in the dining room area instead of stuffing me away in a bedroom. (His idea!) So now instead of working out in a basement bedroom with no windows (as in our old apt) or doing weights and step in a tiny...

    <---sleepless on the east coast.

<--waves hello to Tig, Shannon, Cath and all <--can beat Tig--was up at 5:30 cause my new drapes don't block out enough sun, still <--is knee-deep in UNpacking <--assures Cath it will all fit, though you won't be able to find anything once you move! <--wonders if she'll make it into NYC for...

How to get back into workout routine?

It is madness, isn't it?!! Plus, it seems like every piece of electronic equipment that I own has chosen now to break--both my computer and my pda fried themselves. I guess one day at a time, plus am workouts are the answer. Can't wait till I'm back to normal, whatever that is!

How to get back into workout routine?

Wow, I just realized this morning that for the last 3 weeks, my workouts have been practically nonexistent. First I was sick with some sort of fever/horrible sore throat/bronchitis thingy for a week, then I was packing to move for a week and still sick, then I moved and have been living out of...

    Tips for movers?

Thanks--I think we're going to go with $20 each, providing they do a decent job.

    Step without the step?

Don't know if this is helpful to you or not, but I've done step workouts in ridiculously tight spaces. I just have the high step--not a full size step. Yesterday I did a step workout in between all the junk/boxes we have stuffed into our tiny apartment for moving. I think I did the workout in a...

    Tips for movers?

Thanks Laurie and Gym mom! I really had no idea what the going rate for tips is.

    Tips for movers?

Anyone have a rough idea of how much to tip movers? We're moving on Sunday; hired a company to do it. I know they expect tips but I have absolutely no idea what the acceptable range is. We have a medium load of stuff--moving out of a small apartment, so it's not as if we have rooms and rooms of...

    Swimwear time- Underwire?

Try Lands End--there was an article in the paper the other day about how they have so many different styles. I bet they have underwire tankinis.

    Experiences with prednisone?

Agreed, Laurie. It's really shortsighted and crazy to use them for anything other than a real medical necessity.

    Experiences with prednisone?

Oh, wow. That's young to have to take steroids. I could see where kids would have more effects.

    Experiences with prednisone?

Thanks, Melody. How old were your boys? I wonder if it affects kids differently? I was worried about the mean thing--they gave my mom steroids when she was on chemo, and it made her fly into rages. Awful. But everyone I've talked to (here and two doctors that I know) says that 20 mg just won't...

    Experiences with prednisone?

I'm ignoring the energy. Actually, I'm using it to catch up on my email. Not exactly exerting myself, but webmd.com says that although you should rest with strep, you don't have to stay in bed. Thanks for the information and good wishes, everyone. I fully admit to being a huge baby when I'm...

    Experiences with prednisone?

You're definitely right about side effects, for any drug and for prednisone in particular. Amazing but dangerous stuff. Did your family member eventually lose the puffiness and moonface? Or is that sort of thing permanent?

    Experiences with prednisone?

I have had this strange combination of energy and tiredness all day--I assume the energy is from the prednisone and the tired is how my body really feels from this nonsense. Don't want to push it and make myself sicker, though. It's really hard to judge it. Don't think I will be too active...

    Experiences with prednisone?

I think you only get that face with continuous long term use? Also, I think I recently heard that he is finally off steroids. Can't be good for you to be on them that many years, but who knows if he had no other option for his back problem.

    Experiences with prednisone?

I could be wrong, but I think that steroids cause you to retain water over the short term. Long term, I'm not sure--isn't there a syndrome where kids on steroids get a "moon face"?

    Experiences with prednisone?

Marcy: not being able to breathe is really scary. Last night was the second time it ever happened to me. First time it ever happened, I had an allergic reaction to a drug and woke up in the middle of hte night trying to breathe. Not a very nice feeling. Kathryn: That's funny that you say...

    Experiences with prednisone?

Glad to hear it. I think it took down the swelling in my throat a bit, because it's easier to swallow this morning.
