AC: Love it or leave it?

It's been something I've seriously considered, too. Not a park ranger--I'm not qualified for that. But in the back of my mind, the wheels are always turning, trying to find some line of work that would let me be outdoors at least part of the time. Not sure what, though. Anyhow, have now managed...

AC: Love it or leave it?

<<To hear a summer breeze through the leaves, smell the flowers and freshly cut grass wouldn't happen with my doors and windows shut to run the AC.>> Ooh, Lorrie!! That's exactly what I love about summer! I also live all year for the summer and get very upset that I have to spend 8+ hours a...

AC: Love it or leave it?

Do you love air conditioning in the summer? Hate it? Seems like a lot of people feel strongly one way or another on this, so I was curious. I don't like AC normally, and this year I'm starting to absolutely hate it! My office is freezing, my house is freezing (BF hates the heat), the supermarket...

    Potterheads

I have to agree with the point of view that they're children's books, ultimately. Maybe a bittersweet ending, but I would be disappointed--and pissed off--if it's a dark, depressing ending. And just to add the disgruntled point of view to this discussion, ;) the last few books have been...

    who has bad posture here?

Not weird at all--I went through the same type of experience and also still feel self-conscious when I stand up straight.

    who has bad posture here?

yuck..I have the worst posture at work. I try to remember to keep my shoulders back and all, but it's so hard to keep it up all the time. To make it worse, I have a large chest that I have never been comfortable about and I know I slump to hide it at times-which of course just makes you look...

    Read any good books lately?

Right now I'm hooked on a fantasy/mystery book series written from the 1970s to the 1990s: The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny. It's a collection 10 books, released as one big volume a few years ago. I'm schlepping this 5 pound book in my backpack on my commute every day--absolutely hooked...

    EWW! Worst Bathroom Story Ever

<<My husband works w/ a large number of a certain race. He said that NONE of them use kleenex. They just hold down one side of their nose and blow. Whether they are in the toilet area, by the sink or on the sidewalk. >> Ok, that must just be a local cultural thing. My office is really mixed...

    EWW! Worst Bathroom Story Ever

Eww! Those port-a-potties are the worst. Actually, the worst was a gas station bathroom that I recently was forced to use out of desperation. Bathroom floors are all gross. I think I read somewhere recently that women putting their purses on the floor is a common way that bacteria from bathrooms...

Do you eat after an evening workout?

Ok, this is probably the wrong thing to do, but I eat dinner after my workout. The only time I can get my weights in is after work, so I come home, workout, then eat dinner, and it's a late dinner--near 9 p.m. I haven't gained weight doing this--I'm at a healthy weight and have been stable at...

    EWW! Worst Bathroom Story Ever

Oh, it was definitely doody. Possibly dog, but only a very slim possibility based on what it looked like. And I agree--it's absolutely incredible to me that someone did that.

    EWW! Worst Bathroom Story Ever

HR put up huge signs in the bathroom, but there's not much else they can do. It's not as if it happens when it's any of us full-time people around, and we're not using a temp agency to hire temps--we're doing it on our own. Can you imagine that as a question in a job interview?! "Do you know how...

    Let the temperature wars begin....

BF and I like it the same temp, fortunately, but at work it's like a meat locker. They've had the AC on since early May, even when it's 60 and raining. The men walk around in jeans and tshirts; all the women have on 2-3 layers of sweaters. Drives me nuts-it's so inconsiderate to keep it that cold.

    shave or wax?

Venus razor here, and I have a question. I tried Nair a year or two ago and it didn't really work well. I think I'm too fidgety to just stand around the bathroom, waiting for that damn stuff to work. What do you do while you're waiting for the Nair to work?

    surgery/exercise

I don't know if drs are officially recommending it, but as long as the person is physically up to it, it makes sense--you want your cardiovascular system and your body overall to be in the best possible shape before you go through the stress of anesthesia, surgery, blood loss, etc. I would guess...

    EWW! Worst Bathroom Story Ever

Wow, didn't see that show, but after today I'll believe anything along those lines. I know that dogs and cats will go in the house to spite you, but people??

    Complete MENTAL breakdowns...:P

Hugs to you, Sara. Agreed with all of the above--you definitely need to take this to the police, get a restraining order, whatever needs to be done. Have him arrested for stalking. The police generally take this type of thing seriously these days.

    EWW! Worst Bathroom Story Ever

Someone today in the ladies' room at work left a "present" on the floor. We're a small company, but lately have been getting a ton of temp workers in. Those of us who are full-timers were walking around in a complete state of shock. Our temp workers aren't unskilled labor--they have to have a...

    cardio vs. strength training...article

Actually, these days many professional dancers use strength training as a way to prevent injuries (or once they're recovering from injuries). It's a way to increase your longevity in the profession. Also, ballet is not strictly cardio--there's a lot of stretching and holding of positions, which...

    My new workout space!

Thanks, all, and happy 1,000 posts Catherine. I hadn't realized how much I had missed having space and light and cross breezes until I moved out of NYC!
