    Power MAx

Funny you should ask! Last week I had a last minute schedule change and missed my gym workout. I was kind of frustrated about it and thought I'd try to do something at home and this is the one I pulled out. I loved it! It's hot here, and I was definitely sweating, even with the A/C on...

    Lancaster PA area...

I'm not in Lancaster, but live near Harrisburg (only 30 min or so from Lancaster), so if there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know. I know it's a beautiful area and I've been to some theater/musical events there. And the shopping is lots of fun, too! There's a large Bass...

    My Wieners

Love all your pics! I don't know how anyone can look at a wiener dog and not smile! We have a wiener dog and she's spoiled rotten, too. Good thing she's so cute! I'm trying to talk DH into getting another one...they are even cuter when they're in multiples <haha>

This is why I don't agree with BMI standards

If I plug 5'4" and 134 pounds into my BMI calculator, it comes up with a BMI in the normal range (23.0). Why would your doctor tell you that you needed to lose weight?!?! I'd say that, not only are they nuts to not look at the overall health picture, but they're also VERY BAD AT MATH!! Get a...

Looking for a prayer for Inner Peace

Here's one that I like - you may have heard/seen it before. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to...

Feeling down about weight after pregnancy

Hi! Are you breastfeeding? Sometimes that can complicate the weight loss picture: for some people it speeds up weightloss, for others it causes it to slow down or plateau. Either way, I've found that hormones play a big role, for me. It may take some time for everything to regulate, so...

    my first pregnancy

Hey ladies! Just wanted to pipe in from the 'other side of the road' :) My baby is now 8 weeks old and I'm about 4 pounds from pre-preg weight. I haven't done anything close to my normal pre-preg workout schedule, and my 'clean eating' is sporadic at best. I'm sure once I get back on track...

I need some real estate advice (kind of long)

I don't know if this would help, but last year when we were selling our home, one of the marketing ideas that they suggested was to offer an agent incentive: the agent who brings in the buyer before a certain date gets a bonus of some amount of money (you'd have to see what it would take to be...

    first DR appt today!

I hope everything is fine! I'll be checking back to see how it went, so be sure to post an update, okay? :) It can be difficult to manage all the worries and anxieties even without having a prior miscarriage - I'm sure it's even worse for you... It's really great that you got an appt. so...

    Sean saved me!

Sean is my favorite workout partner...I love when he starts the workout with 'All Right!' I feel so good just for showing up! I have 1-6(Sean) Got them when they had a BOGO sale. Haven't actually done them all, yet, but I've worked my way through the first 3. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and am...

    Strange coworker behavior

Oh Laura - forgetting deoderant is nothin'! Some mornings, I have to mentally check to see if I have a bra and underwear on!!! :D All I can say is that some days are just crazy... With kids, school, work and life, just getting everyone out the door can be hectic, let alone checking all the...

Moms-to-be check in week of March 11

Melanie - I just read your latest update...I'm so sorry! You'll have to definitely keep us posted, though, because now that you know that you're ready :D, it may happen sooner than you think!! This is #4 for us. The dr. here wouldn't even see me until they thought I was 12 weeks, so when...

Moms-to-be check in week of March 11

Oh, and just to add to the discussion, I totally agree that different doctors will tell you different things - it can be confusing! The 140 BPM guideline is outdated - it was changed to more of a perceived exertion kind of thing: if you've been working out, stay comfortable, hydrated and don't...

Moms-to-be check in week of March 11

Melanie! I'm so excited for you!!! At 26.5 weeks, and I'm STILL asking my self if I'm nuts :D I think the initial shock has worn off, but there are still times when I have a hard time imagining a year from now and have no idea how this is going to work. :) Sending you wishes for a...

    Is my butt bigger?

Regarding the question about step height - I did notice a difference in my legs on a lower height. When I was doing higher step work, my butt and legs seemed to get bigger, but if I keep the step lower that's not a problem. Not sure if this is true for everyone, though.

    Our employees are SO RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!

I worked for state government for a time, and oh, the stories! Laura, I'm with ya on the union thing! A management level employee could never get away with the things the union employees do. Ask me about the narcoleptic prison guard, or the guy who got a disability because he 'didn't like...

    salad ideas

Another tip to help get in more whole grains: I keep a container of cooked quinoa in the fridge and sprinkle a bunch on every mixed green-type salad I make. It adds a really nice texture, plus protein and fiber. Tastes good, too! :) I love salads - could eat them every day!! I'm writing...

    Gracenote

We're in Harrisburg PA, now. I think we're going to like it here - it's close to a lot of places that we like to visit: D.C, Baltimore, Philly, NYC, etc. Just need to get the house fixed up! The weather has been pretty rough, but I'm told that it's pretty unusual for here. It's been that way...
