    Chapped Lips?

Another vote for Aquaphor. It rocks! Burt's Bees Wax balms often contain peppermint oil which I found really irritating to chapped lips. Chapstick is completely useless in my experience. Here's a link that discusses what to AVOID in lip treatments. It's from Paula's Choice: HTH...

    Slipping Step..:(

I'm confused. Is your step sliding on the floor (i.e. stepping on a moving target?) or is your foot sliding uncontrollably on the top of the step? (i.e. your foot is sliding on ice?) From your post, I thought it was the latter, but the suggestions made address the former.

    Procedures for heavy periods

If you have fibroids, changing your birth control won't help. You'll need surgical intervention. If it's due to hormones, it might. Maybe check w/ your doctor to see what the root cause is??

    Need new leg exercise ideas

In addition to Cathe's floorwork, Tracy Effingers Lower Body Challenge has a great 15 section called Around the World where you work your legs standing and it's very effective for quads, hamstrings, abductors and glutes. Her floorwork in Squeeze and Squeeze Stronger is good too. Love her pelvic...

I'll be the lone dissenter. No, you don't need LBB if you have all the others.

    The closet story update

Hi Pam (and Randy!) Great job on the room--it looks fantastic!! I'm so glad the various tips were helpful to both of you. Who needs more stress?? :D Isn't it wonderful when kids realize they CAN do something they thought was impossible? They just have to find out what approach works...

    hip bursitis help

Hi Mel, I haven't had hip bursitis but I have osteo-arthritis in my hip and have had shoulder bursitis in the past. Without knowing what you've been doing (that might have contributed to your condition), it's hard to make a recommendation. Can you post what you were doing previously...

So is fitness officially out of fashion?

I think this is part of it. I also think more people are looking for less expensive gym options (i.e. ones w/o classes)--ones that just offer cardio machines & weights. Alternatively, I see many more people opting for classes at smaller 'studio' type places. Independent yoga, barre studios...

    Jack LaLane passes away....

Jack LaLanne's enthusiasm for exercise was contagious--that's what made his TV show so successful for decades. His message of how much better you feel when you take care of yourself thru better food & regular fitness helped millions of ordinary people. He was ahead of his time and a true...

    Last straw!

Hi again Pam, Please know that I wasn't criticizing what you did and I think Cindy's comment above has a LOT of truth in it. Every kid is different, every case of ADHD is different & every situation is different. You truly know your son best! I've learned so much the many wise people who...

    Last straw!

Is this the son that has ADHD? If not, ignore everything below! If so, consider the following... Often kids w/ learning difficulties don't literally know what to do when you say, "Clean your room." You have to list out specific tasks. (Put all dirty clothes in the laundry hamper. Put all...

    Changing Mark Twain

Some words just turn my stomach & that's one of them. I actually am okay w/ the idea of "sanitizing" it so teachers WILL use it to teach the lessons it brings. Those of you who think that kids can be taught to understand the context of this kind of language perhaps haven't been around a...

"Women who talk politics are such a turnoff."

My DH and I didn't agree politically at all when we first met & got married, but over time his views (and his family's!) have all morphed into agreement w/ mine. :) People can change. So, it's not necessarily true that you have to agree w/ someone's political (or religious) views to have a...

Has Anyone Ever Intentionally Mispronounced Your Name????

Two thoughts popped into my head: 1) Why didn't your boyfriend correct his brother re: your name, after it became very clear that it was open hostility? Did you mention it to your BF either during the party or later? If so, what was his reaction? 2) Did your BF's brother just break up w/...

Temperamental 10 year old... how should I punish her?

Been there. Dealt w/ that. First, do not let a 10 year child use a $2000 computer. Period. ESPECIALLY, if they've abused it even once. NEVER, EVER! The cost of any repair on a computer is more than the cost of cheap desktop or netbook so you don't save any $$ by letting her use...
