    NEW P90X WORKOUTS

It's not yet available, so no one would have seen them yet. From the preview clips, it looks like there are more full-body, functional moves that would work the legs as well as the whole body.

    I did it! Challenge completed!

I'm not the speediest racewalker (just started this summer, after 3 years of being a 'speedwalker"). My fastest 5k race time was 35:47 (last fall, before I took up racewalking). I actually haven't gotten faster overall (results this year in the 36-37+ minute range), in fact learning the new...

    1st marathon next weekend-Eek!

Good luck, Nan! And don't forget to stretch really well after the race (in all the 5ks I've done, I see very few people besides me doing much of any stretching, but for me, it's crucial).

Can You Find The Cat In This Photo?

It does look like trick photography. Just amazing. There's a longer version of this film somewhere that explains how octopi do this. It's fascinating. They are color blind, and yet they stiill can imitate colors and textures of things around them, and do it very quickly.

    I did it! Challenge completed!

This past Saturday, I participated in a 5k (one of many this year). The next day, I decided that the weather isn't going to stay this nice for too long, so I should get in as much walking as I can before the weather turns bad and I end up going back to more indoor workouts. That vague goal...

    Protein Powder

There are different Vega protein powder products, with varying tastes. I like the Shake and Go smoothie (both chocolate and berry, which taste good just mixed with water, though I usually add other stuff), the Smoothie Infusion (a rather neutral flavor, good mixed in smoothies) and the Vega...

    1st marathon next weekend-Eek!

Then you already know how to prep for them, what works for you to get ready the day of, etc. That should make you feel a bit less nervous/panicky, but if it helps... 1) What if the hotel loses my reservations? Call them to confirm. 2) What if I can't find a breakfast place? Be prepared by...

    1st marathon next weekend-Eek!

Good luck! Have you done any other races yet? 5ks? 10ks? A marathon is quite ambitious for a first timer, but I'm sure you'll come through fine. Just enjoy the experience and have fun!

Can You Find The Cat In This Photo?

Janie, Look just in front of the pile of rocks on the right. Coincidentally, a colleague of mine just showed this to me a few minutes ago (it was sent to him by his brother).

    Change is good...right?

If you like your results and enjoy P90X, I'd say go for it. YOu can 'change it up" by choosing a different rep range (for example, if you went with 12 reps on the 'choose-your-own-reps' moves the first time around, this time choose 10 reps or 15 reps, or alternate between them each week). Did...

    need internet/cable/satellite suggestions

A few months ago, I downgraded my cable from Basic + whatever-the-next-level-is to Basic only, and now pay only just under $30 a month. For the last 6 months, I've just used my TV for watching workout DVD's, and I watch all the shows I want online, including HBO and Showtime shows. I find a...

    running/heartrate ?

I think you'd be fine. When I attended a race-walking cliinic this summer, I discoverded that the old '220-age" max-heart-rate calculation was based on a limited number (50?) of heart patients and is inaccurate for most people. This is what most machines are calibrated at if you plug in your...

Holy Bananas! Did you know this?

In that case, I'd recommend taking a few bananas from different bunches, so they reach your prefered state of ripeness at different times: choose some that are 'just right' to eat the same day, some that are 'not-quite-right' to eat in subsequent days.

Tony Horton ain't got nothin' on Cathe

ITA! The cardio in P90X is specifically designed to NOT be so intense that it would break down muscle or burn too many calories. P90X is a total SYSTEM that works synergistically. "Shoulders and Arms" is one of the best weight workouts around, IMO. Not all cardio has to be (or SHOULD be)...

Holy Bananas! Did you know this?

When you store your bananas, don't put them all in the same area, as the build-up of ethlene will make them ripen faster. Put the fast-ripening to good use: once the bananas are fully ripe (no green on them, with lots of 'freckles'), peel them, break or cut them into chunks, and freeze them in...

    P90X question

Didn't see him, but I know the look. One of the "greeters" at a local Walmart, who must be in his 70's, has way-too-dark (black) dyed hair. He's not fooling anyone!
