I'm on day 4 of Paleo...

JCM--Plz keep us posted how it goes. After being a vegetarian for many years, (I also eat eggs and dairy), I have started eating some fish, but can't see myself eating meat again. But I am eating a lot less grains, after reading The Wheat Belly book. I have been almost qluten free for...

? for those that feed birds.

Do you have a store that sells just bird product, ie food, feeders, bird houses, bird books, etc? The ones we have in town are a wonderful source of info regarding the birds in the area and what they will eat. If you don't have such stores locally, how about searching for such info by googling...

    Coconut Oil

I have not measured for either snack, but guessing what I did with AYLE09's idea: 3 tbsp of coconut milk, 1/2 tsp cocoa powder, 1/16 tsp stevia, a handful of dried coconut, 1/2 handful of slivered almonds. Coconut frozen fruit: a handful of frozen fruit (whatever I have in the freezer) and...

    Coconut Oil

I agree with you NRG Woman, this is dangerous stuff. I had some last night and made a 2nd batch so I could have some as my preworkout snack this am. Another dangerous way I like to use coconut milk is mixed in with a bowl of frozen fruit. Great for a hot summer day treat!

    Paleo& Gluten Free Pancake recipes

Could coconut flour be made by grinding unsweeten dried coconut in a blender? Almond and bean flour can be made that way. Just have be careful and blend the almonds to much, or you end up with almond butter.

    Coconut Oil

Popcorn, made in my airpopper, is a frequent evening snack for me. For a topping I mix half and half coconut oil and butter (the butter I have already mixed half n' half with canela oil), a little granulated garlic and salt. Hmmm...

Anybody Gluten Free, and loving it?

Rosemary--His website and his links do draw you in. I spent several hours reading them, when I had other things I should have been doing. I have continued not eating grains (Davis said some people may want to eat in a limited amount the GF ones, but first I wanted to see how I react with...

Anybody Gluten Free, and loving it?

I have avoided gluten for about 6 years. I have a blood disease called ITP, that my body destroys platelets (the stuff that causes you to stop bleeding when you cut yourself). No one knows why a person has ITP, but can be serious if your platelet count becomes to low. I have found being GF to...

Trying to Stick With a Budget

Thanks Tracy! I am only missing a couple of ingredients, so after my weekly trip to the grocery store, I plan to make this. How long does it keep in the refrig? Have you ever froze the salsa and it was still tastey when thawed?

    What are you thankful for?

Hi Fitatfifty--I do love every moment up here. I feel very fortunate to share this area with the creatures for whom this is their natural home. The house is a passive solar, strawbale house, with lots of windows and every room has a door to the outside (well not bathroom!), so almost like...

We road the Polar Express!! LOVE DURANGO!

Durango is a great town. My DD went to college there and I was always glad to help move down in the fall and back in the spring and I would spend a few extra days in the area. Great hikes on the hillside above the town(great for a runs) and many other hikes a few miles further out of town. The...

    What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for family and friends, too. My passion is nature and I am thankful I have been able to build a house on the edge of a large wilderness mounatin area and live in a wonderous (a word?) world, but only a short drive away are cities, family and friends.
