Been drinking a LOT more water...BUT...

You all know that drinking 8 - 10 glasses of water a day is a myth, right? You actually put too much stress on your kidneys and flush out many important vitamins/minerals if you go to the bathroom that much. Drink enough that your urine stays a limonade color and that is the perfect amount - too...

Skin care for the over 40 skin

This forum used to have members that were using "alternative" skin care products such as olive oil, coconut oil, etc. Is anyone over 40 still staying away from products that require one to call the poison control center if ingested? This statement alone should be reason enough to use only...

    30/40 minutes really enough????

Of course 40/30 is enough, depending on your goals Currently, the guidelines from the Interantional Association for the Study of Obesity are as follows: - to reduce the risk of chronic disease in adulthood, engage in at least thirty minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity on most days...

Supreme 90, STS or ChaLean Extreme? Which one next?

No help here. Any challenging workout you do consistently will help you get there with a proper diet. Do what is fun for you. Systems are not the magic bullet. You lift really fast in Supreme 90 and your heartrate will stay higher then doing STS or even CLX. Since you just completed CLX, I...

    90 day supreme

I agree, Supreme 90 seems harder than CLX. Additionally, Supreme 90 does not have the overly hyper background exercisers CLX has.

    At home spinning

That would be great, Cathe! I have a spin bike and am using Coach Troy's spinervals. I would be interested in pure cardio spinning and spinning circuits. A lot of us have treadmills, too. How about adding a treadmill cardio and circuit workout?

Quasimodo in need of a new office chair

I bought a Balans chair last year and it was the best purchased I have made! My back and butt do not get tired from sitting in front of the computer for a long time.

    Think you know your Microsoft?

Wow, that was hard. I got 6 out of 15 for Word right. I am not putting myself through the other tests - it would be bad for my self esteem. Last fall I had to take an Excel test and the only instructions were to input some data and revamp the spreadsheet. I revamped it well because I just...

10-7 = 3 Right? Not according to "New Math"

Our schools use a lot of estimating in math, too instead of going over the basic facts. They also do not emphasize spelling because of the availability of spell check. My kids are three grades apart and my oldest had to learn a lot more facts (such as state capitals, multiplication tables...

Illegal to check cheating spouse's email?

If employers are entiled to spy on employee's email a husband/wife should be able to, too. Who owns the computer? Both. Who pays for the internet/email access? Both. I think this is just one of those bogus charges that gets a headline/discussion going but will NOT have its day in court.

Some people really DON'T want to work!

I agree. It's easy to say "she should do something," "there is something out there for her." Please, somebody define the "something!" It is easy to say she should go out and do something. However, the reality is NOBODY would want to hire her because of her age, lack of experience, gap in...

What's gonna happen to me when I stop using Splenda?

Why use any sweetener at all? Just as you get used to the sweet flavor of foods and beverages because of sugar and sweeteners, you can get used to the unsweetened flavor items.

    Cheese!

I love cheese, too. I am currently on my second big Brie (from Sams) this holiday season. I make crusty rolls/Frenchbread just for that cheese - yummy. I love feta, too. A greek restaurant has feisty feta (served with Pita) around here and I always get that with a small greek salad with...

    How much Money for Christmas?

Whatever you can afford. At our house, I put $ 150/month into a savings account, which is then used for presents throughout the year. (Of course, if there is an emergency, that spending money goes to the emergency.) My kids are 16 and 13 and each wanted the 4th generation of ipod touch.

    Mapping out fitness goals...2011

I justed mapped out a giant rotation for all the dvd's I have. If I do not do any system (e.g. Pure Strength, Firm Classics, P90X+, Insanity, etc.) for longer than two weeks, I can work out for 1.7 years with no rest breaks and no repeats.

    Anyone make Pizzelle?

We mostly eat them just plain. However, Pizzelles are very good rolled up in a cone and filled with whipped cream or ice cream.

I think I have had it with my slow cooker

The manufacturers had to change the heating system to something higher than before because of the scare of bacteria development. Today's slow cocker cook hotter than the ones from 15 years or longer ago. Most recipes, however, are not adjusted to the higher cooking temperature and that is why...

    suspicious mammogram- really scared

For the past two years I had to get more mammogramms/ultrasounds but everything was in the clear in the end. This year I did not do any weight work or push-ups for a week before my mammogram appointment and everything came out clear right away. Muscle soreness/tissue built-up shows on the...
