    five day rest does wonders

I just finished a 6 day break. Worked out today and feel great. I had so much energy. True believer in occasional rest week. It is so important to listen to what the mind and body are telling us.

What do you pay per month for your cell phone?

I think we pay about $125 for both hubby and me. I have an Iphone and he has a regular phone. I think pre-Iphone, we paid about $80. I love me IPhone so much, it is totally worth the extra $$.

    Loreal's Lash Serum

Do you wear it under your mascara? How does it work? Is it a thickener or does it improve your actual lashes? Sorry for the questions but I have pathetic lashes as well.

    Calorie counting question

I keep track on the livestrong.com website. You can set up you profile by putting in weight, height, lifestyle and goal (i.e. lose 2 lbs a week). It will tell you how many cals. you should be eating per day. Also, you can log in your activity. You can do it on your computer but there is...

    Almond Milk - Yum!

Yeah, it is really good. I get the Almond Breeze brand in the refrigerator section. Really good. I usually get the unsweetened kind but I once accidently bought the sweetened vanilla variety which is wonderful but packs significantly more calories.

    Dog Bite

Yeah, I agree. Particularly with the first dog (a known bitter) the owners should be very concerned. This dog has bitten several other guests and put one of the owners in the hospital after a bite. With regard to the second dog, as far as I am concerned she is now a known bitter. I really...

    cutting back cardio

I don't have any great words of wisdom for you but I just wanted to say I think its great that you are listening to your body and trying to discover what works best for you. I have also cut down on cardio (due to a calf injury) and noticed that I actually lost 2 pounds last week. Everyone is...

    Dog Bite

I am certainly gaining some serious dog insight here. Interestingly both dogs are very pampered; no kids in the house. In fact after the bites both owners were very concerned about the dogs' feelings (not that they weren't concerned about me). There was no disipline or correcting the dogs. I...

    Dog Bite

Yeah, I am thinking that the Rottie not have been fully awake when I approached her. I did call her name to make sure I wasn't petting a sleeping dog and she did raise her head but maybe she was still in a sleep state. I'll keep that in mind for future visits. One thing that surprised me in...

    Dog Bite

The first dog that bit me was evidently sleeping and when I pushed my chair back (we were eating) the dog woke up and bit me. He has bitten his owners several times when he is woken up by them. So, the second dog I called out her name in a normal tone to make sure she wasn't sleeping. She...

    Dog Bite

For the second time in two months I've been bitten by a dog at the home of friends. Two different dogs, two different friends. I don't know why. I'm such a dog lover and I've felt guilty both times, like, "did I do something to provoke the dog?" Looking back, I don't believe so. Once the...

    Butts & Guts Feedback

In my opinion B&G is a bit too much. What I mean is that it is hard to get through. The standing part is hard in and of itself but then to go onto the floor, OMG. I consider myself an advanced exerciser but I have never been able to get through the entire workout. That being said, I'm super...

    Low Vitamin D

Wow, interesting. Thanks for the info. Has the pain cleared up since going on Vit. D?

    Low Vitamin D

I don't have an answer to your question but I take Vit. D drops every day after my doctor and nutrionist both told me that most people are D defficient particularly during the winter months. I've never been tested though. Not to get too personal, but were you having symptoms that alerted you...

    Homemade Hummus?

I like this recipe. Warning 3 gloves of garlic are enough and may be too much for some. Try with 1 or 2 and see how you like it. I usually add a bit of tahini because I have it on hand but it tastes good without also. http://www.recipezaar.com/Super-Healthy-Hummus-90086

    Who to BLAME for obesity?

I heard an interview with this Dr./Author on NPR several months ago. Very interesting stuff. I think I recall hims saying that there are certain chemicals (maybe?) added to food that makes us crave it more. Kind of like chemicals added to tobacco to make it more addictive. Is that right? I...
