    Clean Eating Tips and Tricks?

I eat relatively healthy, but don't consider myself a "clean eater", i.e. I eat mostly frozen veggies, eggs, beans, high fiber cereals, etc. but don't attempt to limit my intake of processed foods. (I put sugar-free creamer in my tea, eat canned soup, etc.) Sorry, you guys are probably wincing...

    Knee Problems :(

    >An injection? I've heard about people getting those. I am >terrified of shots and will basicallly do anything not to get >one. Gosh, I hope the doctor doesn't recommend that. I had the exact opposite sentiment! I had asked my docs for cortisone injections, got the brush off- 6 weeks later...

    Knee Problems :(

    >I have a constant dull ache under both kneecaps and sharp >pains to the right and left sides of both knees. The pain is >actually worse while sitting and of course jumping. > >I went to Dr. Meister's office 2 weeks ago. I was a bit of a >mystery for his office. According to them my knees...

    Knee Problems :(

First off, my deepest sympathies. Knee problems are a seriously back luck of the draw. My friend starts talking about her rotator cuff problems and I want to say "Do you have 120 lbs resting on your rotator cuff 24/7??" Of course I don't (I'm not trying to belittle rotator cuff injuries), and of...

what a mess - need advice because you guys are just so good...

RE: what a mess - need advice because you guys are just... We all go through those situations where you're just so enraged you can't see straight. That kind of anger just takes time to fade out I think. Really, I think the only apology you owed was to the children, since you said DS feels like...

AM workouts/so very hungry - help

A spoonful of >peanut butter sounds like the best solution I've ever heard >and which never occurred to me (thank you). That's what I'll >do tomorrow morning. Oh goodie! Let us know how it goes. I figured it out by accident one day (I think I had skipped breakfast and lunch, or at least I...

looking for website for cool 'scientific' stuff for kid...

RE: looking for website for cool 'scientific' stuff for... That's so great Gayle! At an ACS conference this year I picked up a little book called "Apples, Bubbles, & Crystals". It has an activity for each letter of the alphabet- making a xylophone, taking fingerprints, 'ocean in a bottle'...

All carbs are not created equal!

    >I 2nd the La Tortilla Factory tortillas. Only 80 cals, I'm >thinking about 8 gms of protein. Even better than a piece of >good grained bread nutrition wise. I 3rd it. I love those things! 14 g fiber too, I think they're absolutely magical. My go-to quick snack is a little hummous and...

    Naked in the locker room

What time of day do you work out? Could you work out at the gym and then shower at home? That's what I used to do B.C. (before Cathe :P) If you're super duper sweaty you could always throw a towel on over the car seat. I never did but my gym was kept ice cold (ahhhh) and I just told myself I'd...

AM workouts/so very hungry - help

Maybe try to incorporate some more fats and protein in your breakfast so you can feel fuller on less volume. When I come home from work absolutely ravenous, ready to eat everything in the house, I find that a spoonful of peanut butter can really dampen the physical sensation of hunger.

    This seems really hard core!!

That link doesn't work on my computer either, so I searched on youtube and watched this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GEv_YOJKzws The barbell scene. makes. me. cringe. I think the ideas of muscle confusion and getting a cardio factor in are really great, and I don't doubt that there...

    Jari Love--yikes

Keep in mind a few of us actually do like Jari's workouts and there's some good reviews in this thread if you read the whole thing. Although I personally like her workouts, she and Cathe have wildly different styles, attitudes, the whole shebang. And being on a Cathe website...you'll probably...

The saga of my first 'competitive' walk

"...the cheating walker..." Kathryn, you crack me up. :7 It's true though, walking at 6+ mph without breaking into a sprint is pretty impressive. I'll have to try, but I just don't think my body can physically do that. You and those other "just walkers" have skills. Nadja

    Let's talk BRAZILIAN Waxing....anyone?

Talk about the most helpful thread ever! This is one of those things I've always thought about and never gone through with. Tried an at-home kit once- nope, nope, nope, never again. So, here's another question- Are there more than two choices i.e. a full on brazilian or a more conservative...

What kind of friend am I? Long

Ahh, you're one of those people who extends huge amounts of consideration to others and accepts whatever they dish out in return, even when you couldn't fathom acting they way they do. Yup, plenty of us have been there. If she wants to exercise, then exercise! She's already got a leg up on...

a question for parents whose kids play sports

Do you know if there are any other parents that are concerned? Maybe if there's a few of you, you could talk to the coaches/admin together. It just seems pathetic to me. Not because I don't swear (because I do :P). But any moderately mature adult knows you keep that stuff in check in situations...

    Any Good IT Band Stretches?

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone! I'm looking forward to surprising that darn IT band with some new moves. I hadn't thought of the foam roller. I don't really get how it works, but I will try anything and everything. Bring on the pain, if it helps with what the kneecaps have been...

    Any Good IT Band Stretches?

Thanks RunninTeach and Jennifit! Pigeon pose is my favorite! Before the knee problems really started, I'd always pause the dvd and hold it for a solid 2 or 3 minutes. But just the thought of it now makes my knees uncomfortable. The standing ones looks good, though. Seems like there's a lot...
