    Anyone can/preserve?

Ball has videos, too, which really help me because I could see the process.

    Ohhhh, how I miss Cathe.....

I didn't mean to make it sound like I don't enjoy running: I just don't like HAVING to run. I love the fun-factor of Cathe workouts with the freedom to sub with a run whenever I get the whim. It's the best of both worlds, for me. But preparing for and completing a race is pretty awesome, too!

    Homemade Yogurt Machine recommendations?

Thanks for your reply, Justine. I tried a batch without scalding it at all (just added the starter and put in to incubate) It did better, but not great--most turned in to whey (but it made for some very thick Greek yogurt). I'm thinking the milk wasn't fresh enough. I used the rest of the...

    michigan bulb catalog

I don't have any experience with the catalog, but my In-laws went to Holland, Michigan last spring. The pictures they took of the tulips were amazing! They ordered ones they wanted to be shipped to them this fall.

    Homemade Yogurt Machine recommendations?

Happy to enable anytime! I'm just enjoying some greek yogurt with fresh peaches (a little stevia, a splash of real vanilla, a sprinkle of cinnamon)--heaven!!!!!! I've paid for my yogurt maker many times over with what I've saved over the years by making my own--especially since discovering...

    Ohhhh, how I miss Cathe.....

Vent away! I feel the same way about my Cathe workouts. Cathe is my main diet--running is a side-dish I throw in if I feel like it. Whenever I've tried to really concentrate on my running, I haven't enjoyed it. Since I can't really justify the entrance costs of races right now, I'm not...

    Homemade Yogurt Machine recommendations?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Justine, I need help! I just found out that I have access to fresh goat's milk (and I'm very excited about this), so I've made a couple batches of kefir. I would like to make yogurt as well. How hot do you heat your goat's milk in the initial heating? My...

    Homemade Yogurt Machine recommendations?

I have a Salton machine (one that makes a quart at a time). I don't see it on Amazon, where I bought it years ago, but this one is similar: Euro Cuisine YM260 Yogurt Maker, 2-Quart: Kitchen & Dining: Amazon.com Too bad they are so expensive now. I got mine for something like $25 years ago. :(...

    Back to School Blues

Thanks for the reminder to enjoy the time I have left. I'll be losing my HS senior next summer, and I'm already thinking in terms of "last this" and "last that". So, with all my whining, I still love having my kids here.

    Marathon with Buffalo

For those of you who want a little wildlife in your marathon route, here's a post from the recent Layton/Syracuse Marathon in northern Utah: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FwK8oai5C8g If you want to try it next year, come on out--you can stay at my house.

    Teen acne

I used to order Bragg's on Amazon, but then I couldn't find any suppliers with SuperSaver shipping. VitaCost has their own store brand that is unfiltered and says it has the "mother" as well. But . . . my Wal-Mart has FINALLY started carrying it! Yay!!!!! Other grocery stores have had it...

    Teen acne

I am trying those vitamins! Amazon has them eligible for Subscribe and Save, so I added them to my October delivery. My son might not have such bad acne if he would take care of his face, but no way is he going to do a skin-care regimen--I've tried for years. Also, he had allergic reactions...

    protein Powder that isn't disgusting???

I'm another that cares more what is in it than what it tastes like. My system didn't handle pea, hemp, or rice proteins very well (especially pea). My problem is balancing the cost vs. ingredients. I've settled on VitaCost's store brand whey protein, because it's sweetened with stevia. It...

    Back to School Blues

You know it's the start of a new school year when: - You sign any scrap of paper that appears in front of you. - The only thing longer than your shopping list is your to-do list. - The only thing shorter than your patience level are the numbers in your bank account. - You greet your students...

What size kettle bell should I start with?

I am not familiar with Skogg, so the weights I use may not apply. When I was starting Kettlebells and asked what weight to start with, most people on this forum advised getting something around 20lbs. This was perfect for me. I use my 20 and 25 lb bells the most. I do have a 15#, which is...

    Happy Hips

I checked out the reviews of "Happy Hips" on Amazon. I think I'll stick with my Power Yoga for Happiness--which I LOVE. And, yes, the DVD has "premixes" (for lack of a better term) which are shorter versions of the full practice. Edited to add the breakdown: Total Happiness - 80 min...

    Happy Hips

I don't know about this specific practice, but I really love the "magically hips" section of Power Yoga for Happiness--it has the best hip work of any yoga I have done. So I'm thinking that anything of his targeted specifically for hips would be amazing! Hmm . . . I'm going to have to check...
