I think with 400 plus kids no one would notice a little slapping. You're in such great shape you could probably sprint over, get your slapping on and then sprint back home before anyone was the wiser. :D
I have the opposite problem...I get super edgy when it's still light out at 7pm!
Every day I am more and more glad that I gave up Wal-Mart (years ago). I didn't look at the pictures - the genetic bouillabaisse is more depressing than I can bear.
I'm smaller than I've ever been since leaning out (34a) and had to purchase all new bras. Because of the I've just discovered Joe Boxer bras. They are really comfy everyday "utility" bras. Nothin' fancy, just gettin' the job done. :)
I absolutely love the coming season. The cool nights and days, wearing cozy sweaters, trees changing color (at least in New England!) pumpkins, apple cider, Halloween, Thanksgiving, the wood stove on, cooking hearty soups....
I can't wait. :D
Molting is hard on hens in general. It can really shock their system. How awful that they'd be forced into it, and probably not given the extra care they need during this time, like additional protein.
Sigh.
I'd love to try threading.
Right now though I vote waxing over bleaching. I used to bleach but then one day I caught a glimpse of myself in the sunlight and it looked like I was sporting a big, golden Colonel Saunders type 'stache. Been waxing ever since!!
I don't really buy baked goods - I make that stuff at home - so that's not really an issue for me. As for local roosters, I can't say for sure but I'd bet that the local smaller farmers do what people did for years: keep some roosters for fertilization, give some away, or butcher them for meat...
Oh cool! :) DH and I are hoping to visit the New York farm some time in the near future. I just wish they would stop letting me know about the animals up for adoption (email and newsletter). It took all my resistance to not rush up there and adopt a mini goat.
The disrespect for life makes me sick. Yeah, how dare the chicks have the nerve to be born male, thereby inconveniencing the human population. Grrr....
If anyone is concerned about the treatment of factory farm animals or wants to know more, check out the book Farm Sanctuary or...
ITA.
It's to the point where just don't buy much in the "regular" grocery store anymore. I do hit Trader Joe's once a month but otherwise I get most of my stuff from the co-op or my local farmers or make it myself. And it's not just the hydrogenated oils of course, it's the soy and the soy...
Thanks for the info on the phones guys!! Some more questions....
- can I use it with my existing Verizon cell?
- if not, what is the process. I got to Target and buy a Tracphone? or do I need to go to a dealer? And then I buy minutes?
THX!
DH and I have always been frugal so we've not so much instituted as we have intensified things we were already doing. Here are some:
- we pay attention to our utilities. If your state has consumer electric choice, find out which company offers the cheapest electric, call and switch to them...
