    Postpartum pep talk!

I can always count on you :) See guys... this is why Sheila is such an incredible prenatal/postpartum instructor (and you should know that she was there to give me this peptalk after Aaron, too... LOL). You are right (of course... you always are)... but I want to melt away NOW! LOL... isn't...

    Postpartum pep talk!

LOL -- I'm writing to get moral support... and hopefully some of you will relate to where I am right now, too! Sometimes I'm better at giving advice than taking my own! Robby is 3 mos. now and sooo much fun... smiling, cooing and squealing... and he's even cute when he does that thing where...

Anyone not eating sugar throughout pregnancy?

I definitely think that it's best to say away from processed sugars if you can at any time, and I wanted to say "ditto" to your comment about "riding the line between being totally unhealthfully... (and) totally obsessed." But... to those who give into cravings & can't help but obsess over...

    Nursing bra suggestion

yep... ... I'm pretty busty, but once my milk production settled down, I often wore a Victoria's Secret jersey type stretch bra (underwire) and just flopped 'em over the top to nurse... much more discreet for public nursing because you aren't having to mess with hooks, etc... but, of course...

    Nursing bra suggestion

BTW... ... I'm a 36D normally and was a 38 F when I gave birth to number one and my milk came in... was back down to a 36 win a month or two and to a DD in about 6 mos... susan

    Nursing bra suggestion

I just wear two jog bras for extra support... a cotton Champion underneath and a coolmax/Adidas on top. It's just as easy to flip one up over your boob than to deal with the hooks. I bought two Motherhood nursing jogbras after #1 was born, and they totally self destructed... one hook fell off...

    Caring for baby

I refer to What to Expect in the First Year and my American Association of Pediatrics guide all of the time... ... hee hee... I had to giggle a little, though... by the 2nd baby, you won't worry so much about cleaning toys :0) There's something about seeing your toddler chew on the shopping...

Do you really have to wait 6 weeks?

Even the 2002 ACOG guidelines... ... are pretty liberal on postpartum exercise... Although the 2002 ACOG guidelines (which draw on a bunch of studies to tell us what we should & shoudn't do) admit that there hasn't been a lot of research studies on this topic, they indicate that some women can...

Petty Question about Changing Shape -- sigh!

Hang in there... I think your feelings are completely normal... most of us feel a little out of control when we're pregnant. To me, it sometimes seemed like I'd given my body over to some alien life form. Some of the new pregnancy styles are awesome for fit pregnant moms... especially the...

    It's a boy!

Congratulations on your little boy :0)... I always thought that I'd have girls, but now that I have two precious little boys, I have to say that I am really enjoying it! My prayers are with you and your husband... keep your communication open and remember why you love each other... get through...

    Not feeling good after cardio

low blood sugar! Yep -- I suspect you are right... you are growing a whole new human being, and you need to keep your body fueled. Try eating a small protin-carb snack (like crackers @ cheese or peanut butter ... or a soy shake) 30-60 minutes before your workout! susan

Who works in the fitness industry?

Just the prenatal/postpartum stuff ... ... and although I'm fit, I know that I'm not as hardbody as a lot of you guys... I'm mostly a SAHM, although I've recently begun to do some freelance writing. I was an English & humanities teacher for a School for the Arts in my pre-mommyhood days...

    Introduction/ advice

Your OB should be able to tell you... or you can check it yourself. Lie on your back with your knees up, and place your fingertips of one hand (firmly) a couple of inches below your belly button and then do a crunch while reaching toward your knees with the other hand... repeat the same with...

    Working out and breastfeeding

A small amount lactic acid is released into milk, but it's not anything to worry about. I am large-busted anyway... when I'm breastfeeding, I have to wear two jog bras when I run or do high impact activities. It also helps to nurse the baby right before a run, so that your breasts are empty...

Is it normal to still be bleeding- HELP!

It can be... but I'd still call... I had 6-7 wks. of bleeding with both pregnancies. Neither time was it excessively heavy, but it was red for several weeks. Both times my OBs said it was fine. I did have some clotting after #1... it occured in the a.m., and the OB said that this sometimes...

    Introduction/ advice

Hi :) I love your name... Having 2 little boys myself, I guess you could say that I'm boy crazy, too :) I just wanted to add that, if you are having a lot of back pain, you may want to check yourself for diastasis recti (abdominal split)... very common during and after pregnancy, and often a...

    Getting back in the groove...

I am prenatal/postpartum certified through Healthy Moms (Hi Sheila! :)... and I have taken stroller classes, so I used those as a model and designed my own. You basically set it up like an interval or circuit class with power walking, light jogging, walking lunges, etc. in between stops... and...

    Getting back in the groove...

I'm definitely not complaining about the weight loss so far... but something tells me you started your pregnancy with a little (okay... a LOT :) ) less chub than I did LOLOL. I know exactly where the weight has gone, too... I did a weight check on Robby this morning, and he's 14 lbs. 6 oz. at...
