Low Carbers and Friends - January 2011

Lita, I had a period of a few years when I couldn't have any pets because of my son's asthma and I would see other people's pets and just have this pull in my heart to have one of my own. It was a longing. Kind of sounds silly, but it is true. Ever since I was very young, say 4 or 5, I had pets. My mom always said I was so good with them, played with them, took good care. My dad is the same way, I must get it from him. He will say his cat bugs him, but I know that cat means a lot to him.

Now on to the aches and pains of getting older! UGH! Ok, so in my adventures of wall climbing, I did something to my leg. Only thing is I either sprained something or banged it on the wall. But there was no bruise. Anyways, I decided to take a hot bath in epson salts and it was like a miracle. In a matter of two days (took a bath each night) my leg went from a 6 (scale of 0 - 10) pain to a 1. I could barely stand. I'm telling you, it was so bad I was seriously concerned. I am amazed at how quickly it got better. So, I am making that recommendation to you all that if you are able to take a bath in the stuff when you are achy, just see how you feel the next day.

I did some reading on it and I guess it helps with healing as well.

Today I was able to ride on the stationary bike for 25 min and do pilates. Slight residual pain on the leg, but it's no big deal at all. I am going to take a hot bath that night after our climb this Saturday.

Melinda - I know just what you mean! I see others with dogs and it makes me ache inside.... Oh well, one day ;). As for the aches, that's a great tip! I don't have a tub but it sounds soothing just thinking of it!

I suppose I shouldn't tell you that my new house will have a jacuzzi tub with a gas fireplace right next to it?

Rhea - It's great to "see" you :D! Oh sure - go ahead and brag ! How often, after all, do you get to build your dream home ;)?

Rhea, that sounds so nice!!! That will be perfect after a stressful day at work.

I took another hot bath last night. Came home from class. 3pp were sick! This is the 3rd round of stuff going around since Thanksgiving. I do not want to get sick. I took vit C, echinaea and a hot bath and got to bed.

Tue: bike 25 min + 30 min pilates
Wed: S&H legs/shoulders

Now I think I'll move on to GS for next week.

Lita, no tub! I used to only take showers, didn't really want to take a bath, but recently they have felt so good this winter. Helps warm me up

Tracy, how are you doing?

Melinda - It seems all the places I've lived had one or the other - but never both .

Okay - other than walking, done for the week .
Su - GS legs - most; walk
M - LM and walk
Tu - GS CT, BM2 abs, lots of walking
W - MMA:KB & MMA:Fusion - cardio parts only (but after this, I'm ditching MMA:F. I'm only keeping the KB one because I like the 1st 2 cardio routines - still think the 3rd one is inane and not at all aerobic in nature ;).)
Th - GS BSB, parts of CM3

Of course, I did my usual modifying and went slower so I could get more out of the workouts. I did some band work - but slowed that down, too, for what works best for me. I am still a major hurting unit from Tuesday's workout so I think I did something right, anyway :p!

Yup :). I'm not venturing out today, though, since it's in the teens with the wind chill and the "breeze" scooted me across the ice several times coming back from lunch . (I always walk to/from work but that only adds up to about half an hour every day and I never count that as "walking").

I wonder if the picture will upload today? Yes it did!!!

Another one, but the outside.....where we are now...oops, guess not. I have not uploaded that one to the ipad yet!! I'll try and remember tonight. LOL

How exciting to see things coming together, Rhea :D! Can't wait to see how the outside is progressing!

Rhea, the house is moving along nicely. Looks like you'll be able to see the fire on both sides of the wall, is that what I'm seeing correctly!?

Lita, you are brave for walking in the winter. I can't stand this cold and don't go out much at all. We've been using a stationary bike to circulate the blood, but I'm so sick of staying inside. BUT, it is 7 degrees out and I'm not going out there if I can help it!

Melinda - I will admit walking when it's in the single digits is not fun at all  - especially if the wind is blowing! As the winter wears on, I go out less in that kind of weather than I did when it first began ;). But I have a long coat and have no qualms against looking like the Michelin man :p!

Melinda - yep, can see from both sides. Totally cool! I can't wait to soak in the tub with a glass of wine (oh and DH wants to put a little tv above the gas stove on the tub side!! I thought that was a little much, but who knows, may come in handy.

Rhea - I think it sounds like a place I'd never want to leave ;)! All you need by it is a mini-fridge or snack cupboard and you'd have it made  :p!

Lita, you read my mind. I was also thinking of the minifridge! I think if I did that walk every day to work, I'd wear a hunting suit. Have you ever worn one, they are VERY warm.

Rhea, with tv, fireplace, snacks and fridge, you'll never have to leave the tub!

Tracy, how's things going?

3rd day today with the wall climbing. We've turned into little monkeys ;) Actually, it was more crowded than it's been in the past, so I didn't like that as much. We have 2 more weeks left to go, this was worth it to give it a try. I wouldn't want a permanent membership, but it's going good for this month.

Hi babes! Sorry I have been MIA, my time management isn't so good these days! :(

I was scared to get a dog because I've never had one. I had a cat once, and he passed away in 1999 at 13. I never had pets growing up because the heartbreak of losing them just did my mother in. So, my sister and I have both braved new adventures in pets as adults.

Rhea, I think you ought to have a girls sleepover with all of us when your house is done!!! :D I talked DH into getting a jetted tub but we won't be getting a fireplace in the bathroom, as far as I know! Do you have an estimated date of completion?

Lita, I admire you for walking in all kinds of weather! We stay inside if it's rainy and breezy in the 30s! :p

I did High Reps this week and was a hurtin' after it was over. But the DOMS weren't bad at all the next day--yippee!

BB had his first puppy class today. Got to play for the first 45 minutes, then worked (sorta) for the next hour. He's been tired ever since. Oh! So have I. Work was crazy this past week on top of it.

Hope you have a great weekend and I hope to get here more often next week!

Melinda - GMTA :D! But I think if I had the minifridge, fireplace, AND jacuzzi, I'd never get out to walk or be so fat when I did get out that I couldn't walk if I tried :p!!!!!!! I am so very glad you're liking that climbing ! I admire the variety you get - I am pretty stuck in my ways . No, I've never worn a hunting suit - but I would certainly fit in around here come October when all the out of state hunters start pouring in :D.

Tracy - So glad you could pop in and see us :D! It's hard having a "kid", isn't it? But definitely worth all the effort :). Oh my - I remember puppy classes - and how exhausting they can be ! But what fun memories! I'm glad you were able to get DOMS out of High Reps. I don't think I got anything even close to it out of that one or STS TB. Maybe next time... If I only walked in good weather, I'd walk less than a dozen times a year :p! Okay, maybe a few more times than that, but you get my drift, I'm sure ;).

Okay, let's see if I remember to download things properly......oh...and look insulation!
