Just couldn't finish

Not really looking for sympathy or advice or anything, I just need to vent and grumble and p*$$ and moan a bit....

I was TIRED today, not sure what hit me, but it did. Not sleepy, just TIRED! On the drive home I was dying. MM was scheduled for this evening, and normally even if I am tired or not feelin' it, once I start I am ok. I ate dinner, puttered around on the computer and off I went. It was just not workin' this evening. I kept with the "I think I can, I think I can" and then came "No, I can't" I gave up after the 2nd round of legs. Perhaps I can get the shoulders/bi's/tri's/abs in tomorrow after cardio. Its rare that I skip a workout and even rarer that I stop dead in the middle. I guess it was just a "listen to your body" evening. My body was yelling at me to go be on the couch!

I think that we all have these days and we all react the same way. We beat ourselves up for it. Don't worry about it. I'm so feelin ya right now. I have Gym Style bi-back-shoulders and a-3 mile run scheduled today and it is 6:43pm right now. I'm running out of day light and I have a stomach full of whole wheat spegehtti and tomato sauce. I'd much rather be knitting or reading a book.

{{{{{Nan}}}}} Ohhhhhh, I agree with Janie. You work out hard most of the time and your body is just telling you that it needs a break, and you're wise to take it. Maybe you should take an active recovery week and do some easy walking and stretching, ride a bike for fun -- stuff like that.

Janie, we had the same dinner tonight. :D

Yep. Sometimes a chick just needs a break.

I've been searching for the article but I know I just read where uber-trainer Eric Cressey said he hadn't missed a workout in, like 10 years, or some such ridiculous number. But then, he has the background to know how to plan more carefully... I don't so I get breaks .

Some days are just like that. I know that for some reason the heat this year is sapping my strength much more than it has in the past. Enjoy the evening and relax about it.

One suggestion: do very easy videos

Spyrosmon:
I think all of us have those off days when we feel too tired. And I feel for you. I've started STS, and I feel good and sore during the supposed "off" aerobics days. What I have started to do, when I feel like this, is to dust off all those easy videos that have collected on the shelf unused-- like Kathy Smith and Denise Austin -- snd do a half-hour of those, with extra stretching.

definately have been there. its great that you at least tried to workout b/c like you sometimes i don't want too but once i get going i'm ok. since that didn't work it really meant that your body needed a break so cudose to you for listening to your body. rest up and you'll be right back on track soon enough.

Thanks, everybody!! You guys always listen:D:):D I ended up on the couch watching "Big Medicine" and working on my cross stitch project last night. Then read a bit and went to bed. Bed, glorious bed!!! I am feeling much better and more like me this morning. :D:D:D I took Vlad for a 30 min run and then finished up MM. I actually knocked a min per mile off my run time!! Not sure where that came from, but it felt good!!

Just sending you a hug, Nan. WE ALL have day's like this. I am glad you listened to your body! :)

As much as I dislike taking a day off from exercise - the next day's workout is usually a good one. Good for you!! :)

It happens.

I just actually had to take TWO days off due to my slightly-too-ambitious running mileage increase from the previous week.

It made me feel like a wimp at first, but then I reflected and realized I haven't had more than one day off per week for like, months. So then I decided that I was OK with it!

I was just thinking that weather changes, hormones fluctuations, sleep variations, and a host of other little teeny things can just add up for your body. I think it's nice of the body to let us know with some tiredness instead of blowing out a kidney or something right off the bat!

I've had days like that! I just had one last week, Thursday was a no go day. Don't worry about it, one day without a workout is no big deal but working yourself into adrenal fatigue or an injury is, so I think it was smart to let yourself rest.

everyone had one or two...

I've had one this week, no shame just listen your body, I've learn that on that on the hard way.( Surgery after a big injured):( one day I don't feel like it but the next day I will do go crazy, I mean workout hard so I feel better, this week wasn't good aether not good sleeping, so that's a very bad thing for me, and I'm sure for every one else as well.
But that's ok next week I'm planing go back to my regular schedule....:)
