XxXxX kettlebell x check in x TuesdayXxXxXx

Good morning!

I tried to do Melissa's workout last night, but only made it 5 rounds. My lower back started feeling really tweaky on the swings, and it's giving me some grief this morning, so I'll probably give it a rest today. Here's what I did:

5 Rounds

  • 5 burpee jumping pull ups
  • 10 snatches (5r/5l) 12kg
  • 15 mountain climbers
  • 20 kb swings 16kg
I got say, that minus the back pain, this was a good, fun, sweaty workout. Nice mix of fun stuff (snatches) and character builders (burpee jpu). I'll definitely keep this for future use.

Rhonda - Thanks for the link! That brewery has some interesting offerings.

BBL for more personals!

Gayle::: Hope you feel better today! I like the workout you did.

waves to everyone! off to run errands!

Gayle, I'm sorry about your lower back! My lower back tightens up sometimes when I do jerky movements; luckily my BFFL is a physical therapist. She has me doing lower ab exercises and opposing stretches - not sure how yours hurts, but I can tell you what helps for me. :) She has my lie on the floor with my knees bent, feet flat on the floor, and just concentrate on using my lower abs to pull my lower back into the floor. It feels like the entire pelvic area is tightening up. Hold the contraction for 5 seconds and repeat - I do it for close to 5 minutes, then I pull my knees up to my chest and try to relax while it stretches... It has really helped me. I hope that you feel better!!!

Deanie, cool! I was a vegetarian until I got preggo with my first, then I was for a few months a couple of years ago but I just couldn't do it. I am just not as committed as I was when I was a youngin'. ;]
I have a question about the Diva w/o: how long is it? and could you give me a quick breakdown of what it's like? I see you do it quite a bit and you rave about in OD... I am seriously tempted.

Today I am sore from all over and I don't think that I can do my planned w/o, which was 5 Man Makers followed by a .25 mile run for 5 rounds. My DD really wants to run with me today, so I think that's just what I'll do, and we'll do a great stretch afterwards. Her friend may join us, too. :) Afterwards we are heading to Aeropostale because they are having a 70% off sale (I would never go there otherwise! uberexpensive) and then coming home to pack. I hope to find a cute sundress, and maybe one of those old people's hats that will embarass DD. :p I am so fashionably challenged, lol. Vacation is so close - I am so excited, I just can't wait for FL!!! We are leaving Friday at 3am and driving to Gainsville to visit with some friends, are staying over and then will take our time getting to the island (near Tampa) and sight see a bit. The house we got is AWESOME, a block from the beach and is unbelievably cheap. I am soooooooo excited, sosososososo excited! My kids are going to see palm trees for the first time; I can't wait to see their faces!:eek::eek: We will actually get to be someplace where it feels like summer. ;)

Have a great day all!

Melissa

Hi Everyone!

Ok...I didn't really take a rest yesterday. I ended up going swimming in the rain last night. It was more like an active recovery day. I didn't do 100 laps. I don't think I even did 50 it was more just slow swimming back and forth with lots of rest.

This is on tap for today unless it is lightening and then I will do HSC.

Warm up (3 rounds)
5 swings
10 push ups
15 squats

Workout
200 Jump Rope
50 Slam Balls
200 Jump Rope
50 Push ups
200 Jump Rope
50 Squats
200 Jump Rope
50 kb back row 25/25

Deanie ~ Great job with the snatches!!

Gayle ~ I hope your back feels better today. I did realized that on the 4th I was 2/3 of the way to a triathlon, although I did take a 8 hour break in between the 2 events!! :p I want to try a dualthon but that will be sometime in the future.

Melissa ~ Enjoy your run and shopping trip. It will feel like summer in Florida. I am so excited that you are excited. What island are you going to?

Waves hello to Marcy, Laura, and Rhonda!

Hi again!

Melissa::: Yes, I do like snatches:eek:
Here is a quick break down of the Diva workout:
7 rounds
3 exercises per round
beginner version: 60 second rest between rounds
intermediate version: 30 seconds rest between rounds
advanced version: 15 seconds rest between rounds
it finishes off with one min. of snatches right/one min of snatches left
I do the intermediate workout and I finish in about 30 minutes.

some exercises are:
swings
kb jerk
suitcase deadlift
pushups
2 hands anyhow
squat with triple crush.
PS check out my blog, there may be more info. I am trying not to give away the whole workout, don't want AOS mad at me!! LOL ;)

Quite honestly, I have the downloads:
diva
1200
resolution
plus ETK and SIM,
and they all rock!! I don't think you can go wrong with any AOS workout. I am waiting for vintage providence to go on sale, and then I am going to get that one!

Have fun shopping and running!! I only buy stuff on sale, I never pay full price (except at the grocery store- does that count?);)

Jane::: Or should we call you super woman!! ;) Swimming in the rain is fun, if there is not any lightening!! (sp?) Have fun with your workout today. Love jumprope stuff!!

waves to everyone else!!:):)

I think I'm more super "freaky" than super woman!! :D

*strolls into thread humming Rick James tunes*

Deanie - Great workout! I like those "x reps each minute on the minute" WODs.

Jane - A swim in the rain sounds kinda nice. :) Have a great workout tonight. Hope the lightning stays away.

Melissa - Enjoy your run with DD, and have fun shopping! I love a good sale. :)

I'm going to foam roll tonight and take an Epsom salts bath.

Have a good one ladies!

Hi All!

I worked out too late yesterday to post but here is yesterday's workout:

1 pullup/2 chinups. Then I brought out the kettlebells again and did Lauren Brooks' 12-min workout:

Front Squats and 2 handed swings: 30 seconds each/25#. I went pretty low on the squats and my inner thighs are really feeling it today.

Pushups and Squat Thrusts: 30 seconds each

Deadlifts & Mountain Climbers (30 seconds each)- Since I only had a 25# KB, I did deadlifts with my barbell (8 reps @ 52#). Could have gone higher but haven't done deadlifts in awhile and wasn't sure where to start.

Clean, Squat & Press: 25#; 30 seconds each side

1-arm rows: 25# 10 each side

Hi Pull, Catch & Squat, Alternating Cleans, Alternating Swings and Overhead Swings - 25# - 30 seconds each

Plank and Russian Twist - 30 seconds each; 20# on the Russian Twist

Then I did Patrick Goudeau's Aerobic Dance Workout. Forgot how much I love Patrick!

Today's workout:

Shiva Rea's Surf Yoga Soul: One segment had 108 pushups (9 cycles of 12) and I did them all! Also did a really good side crane on the right side but only held it for a second on the left. Not my favorite Shiva Rea but it was good.

Deanie - WTG on moving 16,000#!! Woo Hoo! Also, great job on the snatches! Happy belated birthday to your DS! I'm with you on the Kahlua & Cream (I forget if that's a Mudslide or a White Russian but I love them both!)

Gayle - The burpee jumping pullups sound like fun! Hope your back feels better soon!

Melissa - Your vacation sounds great! Our first time to Disney (10 years ago) was the first time I saw palm trees. Enjoy your shopping! I never pay full price either. Used to be you didn't want to mention when you got a good deal but now it's the "in" thing.

Jane - I hope you get good weather so you can do your workout outside.

Waves to Andilynn, Laura & Farmer!

Marcy

Deanie, thank you for giving me a brief not-giving-away-a-free-workout rundown for me! :) It sounds great, actually. I can't believe that I like the downloads more than the actual DVD's now - Anthony (via SIM) has really opened me up to a world where workouts can be done somewhere other than in front of the t.v., and that you can actually challenge yourself hard by beating your own times. Plus, you listen to what you want to listen to. Love it! Which do you like more: Diva or 1200?

Gayle, I am sure hoping that you enjoy that bath tonight. :) I haven't taken one in forever; I usually end up reading and getting lost, then turning into a prune. Ah, but it feels so good!

Jane, 50 slamballs in a row? I can't even begin to imagine how long that would take me - talk about anaerobic! You go girl!!!

Marcy, those are some weights for not having seen you do a kb workout - yowza! Greatness is your middle name.

Laura, Rhonda and Andilynn - HOWDY!!!

We are staying in Anna Maria on Anna Maria Island. Here is a picture: http://photos.michaelsaunders.com/areas/41_AnnaMariaHolmesBeach.jpg (I don't know how to make the pictures appear here, which is sad because DH is a computer genius and I should know) We are staying about a quarter of the way up from the bottom point on the right side of the island (the island is actually upside down in this photo). The area we are in is all residential; no condos or resorts, so it won't be as crowded. :)

Gotta run, have lots to get done!

Melissa

Hi everyone.

Did Janis Saffell's Kick It workout this morning. Gotta do some homework before class tonight ( yes I am a procrastinator).

Will try to check back w/personals later as I try to shake "Super Freak" from my head- Thanks Gayle ;).

Have a good one.

runs in from the pool on the way to make dinner....

melissa: hard to say which I like better, if I HAD to pick, DIVA. :)

have a good one everyone!
