Feeling Guilty

Hi, I know this sounds silly but my kids and I all came down with the miserable flu and mine consists of terrible headache, fatigue, coughing and chest hurting. I attempted to do exercise today and about 15 min. in my chest was hurting and I felt terrible. Feeling really guilty about not finishing, especially since I already had a rest day on Monday. Just wanted to vent. Thanks

No need to feel guilty...if you're sick, you're sick! Don't beat yourself up. Take the time to rest and get healthy again. It does you no good kill yourself just to work out, especially if your chest hurts!

Hope you and your family are all feeling better soon!

Thank you for the encouraging words. I will try to rest and not worry hopefully tomorrow I won't feel worse and I can exercise. Have a good night!!

You are probably going to need more than one day of rest to get over the flu. Exercising when you are sick will only make it last longer and/or make it worse. Take several days off and make sure you are well before you attempt exercise again, especially since it is in your chest.

Chiming in with some empathy and good thoughts. :) I put myself through the same thing. Try to remember that fitness is a lifestyle and lifetime journey - a couple of days here and there won't make or break you.

If you want my advice, I'd takemore than a day off, especially if your chest was hurting. Sometimes not taking the rest day makes you stay sick longer or pushing too hard when you are starting to get better makes you relapse.

Take time to rest and get better. Your workouts after a good rest will be that much better and you will make up for those lost workouts in no time at all!

ITA!

And there's no need for feeling guilty here...unless it's feeling guilty about wanting to put more stress on your body (though tough exercise) while it's already stressed from fighting a virus.;)

This is the time to recovery and provide your body with all it needs to do its job: fluids, lots of vitamin- and mineral-rich foods, rest. (Also, if you usually eat several times a day, try backing off to only 3 times a day, so the body has some 'fasting' time during which it can concentrate on rebuiding. And make sure everything you put in your mouth has a positive effect on your body.)

Well I missed Sat. and Sunday workout forced myself yesterday to do my weight training and now today feeling worse more tired ,headache, just yucky. I just don't think I can exercise again today. Feeling really guilty and crappy about missing but dont think I can push myself today. Boy this flu really stinks!! Anyone else been sick?

No flu, but plenty of colds, tummy bugs and other stuff. Sorry you're still feeling lousy. Try to get some rest, and don't worry about working out until you're feeling better again!

Hope you get well soon!!
