My tests came back normal

Just a quick update. My tests so far all came back normal. I am going to the doctor this afternoon just as a follow up on how to better control my asthma.

It seems I have sports induced asthma that I was not controlling it as I should.

I know this is disgusting, but when I work out at 75 to 85% of my heartrate, my nose runs and I gasp for air.

I now use Singular daily and also my albuterol inhaler. Now my cardo endurance is incredible.

I also was experiencing asthmatic symptoms when I was in cold air or became very upset.

So no ABG, thank heavens.

My doctor said I am 99% more fit than the average person.

So hopefully this is end of story.

You too? You should see me on my treadmill. One of the reasons I prefer working out at home is I can hang a roll of toilet paper from one of the two heart-rate detecting handles and use it to blow my chronically dripping nose. Nobody's around to watch me blow and throw the wads on the floor because I'm usually too out-of-breath to focus on placing them IN something while I'm moving. When I'm done, I fold up my treadmill and collect them all up... Can't do that at the gym!

Glad to know it's not just you? Or just disgusted? :p

Me too! I also went to the doctor two weeks ago for my asthma. I'm now taking Advair twice a day and it's doing wonders. My peak flow went up about 200 points and my cardio endurance is much better. I can finally do a cardio workout without gasping for air and it takes much less time to complete. I haven't had to use my rescue inhaler at all. My triggers are cold air and also the dry heat. I've had to keep the heat only at 63. As soon as we put the heat up, my lungs seem to close up. I also moved 900 miles from NY to Atlanta and that helped too.

Hi Amy,

I'm very glad you got to the root of your problem and that you're able to enjoy your cardio workouts again! :) Thanks for updating us.

well, sorry for the pun, but BREATH A SIGH OF RELIEF! (yeah, that was bad)

Glad you're okay!

I live in Northeast Tennessee and a nurse said that NE TN is one of the worst places for allergens, etc.

I also have 3 birds and two dogs and so I have to vacuum and change bird cage papers daily.

It really is great to be able to Maximum Intensity Cardio, the IMAX series and Rhythmic Step without gasping for air and having to modify.

It was my own fault for not controlling my asthma. I knew I should take Singular. I am supposed to take the Singular 2 hours prior to working out, but I just take it evenings before bed.

I have to keep tissues nearby because I salivate (nasty) and my nose runs (gross), but I just can't help it.

I am like you - I just throw the tissues on the floor and pick them up after my workout.

Thank heavens only my daughter sees me do this when we workout together.

Yeah! I'm so glad everything is under control and you are not sick.

Congratulations!
