I think it's wise to limit soy comsumption, especially of highly processed soy (meat analogs) and soy protein isolate or concentrate, but actual soy foods (tempeh, edamame, tofu and soy milk) have some benefits.
I'd limit soy to 2-3 servings a day, some of which can be soy milks (just watch the added sugars in some, which bring the simple carb count way up).
I drink the Silk Regular Unsweetened and my husband drinks the Silk Chocolate. We're fine, so I presume the soy milk is "safe." Silk products indicate on their packaging that they do not use GMOs.
I agree about the Almond Milk. It is DELICIOUS, but it's also more expensive, so I don't buy it.
There are a lot of benefits to soy milk (I personally drink Kirkland Organic Soy Milk). But the worries come in turn with the benefits. Soy products have phytonutrients and a great protein profile but specially has a compound phytoestrogen which can mimic estrogen. So, it can help minimize the effects of menopause for example. But if you drink too much of it, its like pumping your body full of estrogen which is not particularly good...especially in men where too much estrogen can not only feminize them but can lower fertility/sperm count. But the benefits are great and there still needs to have a LOT more research to figure how much is too much (as in there have been contradictory reports about cancer incidence). There is a lot of spotlight in the reseach community about how proteins from plants are better for us than protein from animals for example too. So, being speculative, it's fine to drink maybe a serving or two a day most likely but just don't go overboard and drink too much.
Oh...and I hate almond milk, but that's just me. Maybe its because I had the unsweetened kind. I do like oat milk though its more fatty. Apparently, my friend drinks hazelnut milk which she describes it as drinkable nutella. Mmm...nutella.

My theory on soy is pretty much my theory on artificial sweeteners, red meat and fattening foods. You can have it sometimes, just not all the time. Note that is my theory- my reality is different at times, but I try.
Um, I also need that drinkable nutella. Yum! I need to try hazelnut milk...
