Puzzle Flooring Question

Is puzzle flooring enough cushioning over a concrete floor, or should I have something between the 2? Any other suggestions for a good flooring over concrete in a home gym?
Thanks Wendy

Wendy -

I have a layer of puzzle matting and a outdoor type carpet over the top of it on my garage floor. I am going to get one more layer of puzzle matting though as I have knee issues and thinking it could help me with the high impact. The are so inexpensive - figuered it couldnt hurt.

Feel like i am talking to myself.HAH
I went to dicks and got the 3/4 inch.50 bucks a pack.I bought 3 packs.I have my weight rack on 2 to hold them in place or they slide when i do step. I have carpet under so sticky tape was out of the question.

The only thing is they are so cushiony that jumping is hard. You don't go so high.

I bought mine at the Sam's Club. I found that 30 squares, arranged 5 deep x6 wide made a nice size workout area.

I got my mats from Great Mats, and they are on a concrete basement floor. No problems in 5 years of lots of aerobics.

Hi there Susan- I was wondering -do you have any ideas for more padding over a carpeted area that I have in my basement- my mistake when I was designing our workout room was listening to the owner of the carpet store who was doing the installation and said that the thick padding and short pile carpet we were putting in our basement would be ideal for a workout floor. Had I known that Greatmats existed I would have gone that route-it's too late for that- any ideas? thanks, deb

I am in the process of setting up an exercise room. I decided to go with GreatMats TileFlex raised flooring. I was concerned that the mats would slip too much. It is vinyl, raised off the concrete and has air pockets under it. I think it will provide enough cushioning without the potential of slipping. I'm ordering it tomorrow. I will let you all know how it works.

I'm considering setting up a picture trail after the room is completed (if DH helps set it up that is). Should be pretty nice, as my nephew has volunteered to paint a mural on one wall.
