Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/9

Good morning,

Still not feeling awake enough to get up to work out, and was tossing and turning last night so I didn't even attempt it.

Judy, you were lucky to get a good DVD before they all sold out. Keeping good thoughts for the specialist appointment today for Echo.

Valerie, welcome back! Yes, good thing you were paying attention to that tree limb. That could have been horrible. Glad your shin is better.

Garance, I LOL about pouring over the Collage catalog. I did the same thing. Where did we get them from with no internet site etc I think it may have been seeing them in a magazine and maybe writing for the catalog? I don't think they had the Firm tapes in them at the beginning. I remember pre-ordering the first one, which was $50 ( yikes!), and John was very skeptical about it....he thought it was a scam. I think I saw the ad in a magazine for that too.

Lori, I had my Sunday Night Syndrome last night...ugh...I can't wait for the new KCM's and I will definitely do a review here. I am looking forward to the one that you use some type of cardio equipment with. I always wanted Cathe to do a treadmill type workout like she does with spinning.

Josie, how far is the ride this weekend?

Work, then agility class tonight...

Stay warm!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did Flextrain (56:36).

Deb, I am pretty sure I saw the ad for Firm 2 with Janet Jones Gretzky in a magazine and ordered over the phone. I was so tired of doing Jane Fonda's workout and another by Kathy Smith that I thought it was worth it to pay the princely sum of 50 dollars. That hooked me and I went on to buy Firm 1 and several Firms that followed. I can't remember how I found out about Collage.

Valerie, welcome back! I must have been posting the same time you were yesterday because I didn't see your post until after I did mine. I did see one harbinger of spring yesterday--a beautiful cedar waxwing in one of our plum trees. I can only hope it decides to nest close by so I will see more of it. Beautiful bird!

For all you Amazon Prime people, Orphan Black season 1 is free to watch. I thought I would try it because it's on the cover of EW this week as a must-see and when I went over to Amazon, the reviews are pretty stellar.

Judy, please let us know if there is any new news about little Echo. You know, I seem to remember that you don't like the disks, but you can do a premix on GG that skips them I think. Lean legs and abs does not have disks

St. Patrick's day coming up. Boston will probably be crazy as usual with pub crawlers.

HI Ladies,

Taking a day off today. Tomorrow I will be spinning and body pump and on Sunday I will be doing a 50 mile ride. I was going to do another 70 mile ride tomorrow, but its going to be in the 80's and its inland. The ride on Sunday is along the coast and much cooler.

My DD and I are going to MOLAA (Museum of Latin American Art) to see an exhibit of Frida Kahlo's Her photos. There is going to be music and food :)

Judy, I hope that you get good new for Echo.

Valerie, welcome back and glad your leg is better.

Hi to Garance, Deb, and Lori!

Josie

Hi Everyone,

We just got back from the vet hospital. Unfortunately Echo's prognosis is not good. The neurologist thinks that she has dry FIP. We are going to use one more treatment option for the next week. We are starting her on a new antibiotic and I will be giving her subcutaneous fluids and syringe feeding her a prescription food. The vet said that if her condition deteriorates at all, that we will have to let her go. I am prepared for that and am just going to give Echo every chance I can to fight this. The poor little girl has fought so hard, I won't let her suffer.

I'm so sorry Judy. sometimes all you do is not enough to help. If the last option doesn't help, then you can feel that you tried and gave Echo every chance.

I still haven't formally worked out. did 2 days of garden work which is certainly not easy. I got to walk up and down stairs on uneven ground for hours. my shin is feeling close to0 normal now. we should have done a ride today but the forecast and the morning were wet so we started other projects and it got nice in the afternoon. maybe we'll luck out again tomorrow.
Josie that sounds so nice. we still will need to wear long pants, wind block for riding. we have given up on the CA trip for now. some new issues with BiL whose house we'd planned on parking at. he seems to have issues about selling the parents home and it's been over a year now. he isn't answering emails or calls while SiL is going ahead with the sale. can't keep an unoccupied house just sitting there... needs to be sold. the neighborhood isn't improving and we worry about vandalism, and things going wrong. paying for gardening services, utilities, for no reason.

Good morning and Happy Weekend!

Slept in a bit this morning, it felt wonderful. Besides missing some sleep this week, I have gone off caffeine, for these 2 upcoming weeks, to see if it makes any difference in the results of the mammogram I have scheduled for this coming Friday. That is probably part of my problem with not being able to do anything when I get up.

Judy, so sorry that you did not get more hopeful news at the specialist. You are doing the right thing, see if this new treatment helps, then do what is best for Echo.

Garance, went to Amazon Prime and put Orphan Black in my Watch List. Not too sure about it, as it mentions Sci-fi and I am usually not a fan of that type of thing, but will watch the trailer and maybe the first episode to see what it is like.

Josie, have a good ride!

Valerie, Flowers? sheesh...not fair! :)

Lori, what's up?

Agility class, hair color/cut, then lots of HouseMax on my schedule,

What's everyone else doing?

geez... no caffeine?? now, I don't drink tons ... limited to 1-2 cups in the AM only. no caffeinated soda, chocolate etc. I never head anything about caffeine and mammograms? some of the lift is psychological and hot cup of decaf can work almost as well as the 'real" stuff....

Deb that's one of the nice things about this area. spring is lovely and starts early. we have things in January, feb, like witch hazel and sarcoccoca, but march is when things really take off. daffodils, heather, plum trees, hellebores, anemones, crocus and on and on. some rhodies and camellias bloom this early too. tons of birds, hummingbirds all over. still rains pretty often but warmer and less dreary.
