Need new sneakers...

I was looking for shoes with lots of padding for the ball of my feet for when I do stepping - especially the blasts!!! but the salesguy suggested the Nike Free Hyper since its a training shoe that mimics being barefoot and is supposed to strenghten your foot.

Has anyone tried the Nike Free Hyper sneakers? What are your thoughts?

I've not tried Nike's minimalist shoe, but I have used Vibrams for a year now and love them! We just got the Brooks Green Silence and wore them today for the first time and they are great, too! They are more for running, but I use the Vibram's for step and weightlifting and basically everything else!

Remember that minimalist shoes don't have much padding at all. That's the point. They strengthen the feet and achilles so that the foot functions more like it should. If you try any minimalist shoes, you need to work into them very slowly until your feet start to get stronger. Also, your calves will be more sore for a while until your achilles strengthens.

Good luck with finding a shoe for you!
