KK's December Rotation

Good morning ladies!

Jeanette, did you get a new house or are you just doing some remodeling? As Rhea knows, I SO want a house! We've lived in an apartment all our life and are finally ready to make the big move. We've been looking for several months now, and hopefully will find our "dream" early this year!

Karen Kay, my workouts aren't as intense as they used to be. I don't seem to have the energy I used to, and frankly it's probably because I've been eating mega junk food lately. I went to our local Health Store already this morning before work and stocked up on some healthy stuff like Ezekial bread, Manna bread, organic eggs, veggies, and free range chicken.

Rhea, how's that neck doing? You gotta get yourself back in top form for when those TLT's come. I can't wait!

Ladies, I'm thinking of buying a barbell since I only have dumbells. Do you recommend this?

Jeanette, I have BodyMax on vcr. If you still have a vcr and would like it, I'd be glad to give it to you.

Hope everyone has a great day! A major snowstorm is headed our way today!

-- Jeanie

Hi everyone, Jeanette & Rhea & Jeanie & Natalie!:)

It's good to hear from you here Jeanie. What fun -- a major snowstorm -- I haven't been in one of those for quite a while -- but I used to live in Vermont -- and so I remember them well.

Actually, Jeanie, I don't have a barbell -- I have two body bars -- one is from the FIRM and is 8 pounds and the other is one I picked up here locally and is 15 pounds. I don't generally lift over 15 pounds -- but what I do if I want a challenge -- is I put on the ends of the 8 pound one -- and I'll do this is the 15 pound one, too -- is put my hand or feet weights on the end. So if I could, I could go up to as much as 25 pounds, though I've yet to ever do it. Jeanette & Rhea, what do you think?

Thanks,Jeanette, for telling me about TTOM's -- I get lost in the terminology sometimes.

Don't have many of the kickbox videos -- didn't get KickMax cause alot of people complained about it -- but I think it and the gym styles and abs are the only Hard Cores that I don't have.

Sounds like a good workout, by the way -- I love the DVD's too.

It was Body Max for me today -- the first two sections -- and complete with stretch, it was about an hour -- and alot of fun. I forget how much I like that workout -- really like the warm up in it for some reason. Tomorrow it's Body Max again, but this time, only the weight section and warm up and cool down at the end -- should be interesting.

Jeanette, stay in touch and let me know how you do on the clean eating, okay?

Well, I got the manuscript done and sent off today -- so now I can start work on the new one -- the one I just went to contract on. But first I think I'll get a few holiday things out of the way. Oh, soon, I'll have the new cover for the new book up on my website. I'll let you know when it's up. Personally, I think it's the prettiest cover I've had so far.

Anyway, happy workouts, everyone -- and have a terrific day.:7

Good morning!

My goodness, I forgot that the internet ate my post from yesterday and I never got back on to repost.

Hmm...I don't even remember what I was yacking about yesterday.

Only did a 30 minute walk yesterday. By the time I got home from my hair appointment, DH was home and had already set up the ironing board in the living room, so workout got scrapped. I really need to train him better for thinking about my workouts.

Well, got a lot of little stuff to do today before I can take off to San Francisco. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Today's my day off and the Sears man came today to fix my stove so now workout until now.

I did a Spinerval "Enter The Red Zone", good workout and really gets my heartrate up there. Was interesting, last night I had a bike club meeting and after it was over I got to talk to my friend that's does Ironman competitions. She has offered to help me to train better for next year as far as heart rate zones. She worked up (on paper) my zones that I should be working in on the bike. Later on, she's offered to do anaerobic threshold testing on me at her home. Her husband has been doing these workouts for the last year and has really improved. I've been very impressed. She's 44 and I'd guess he's in his 50's. She's qualified and competed at the Ironman Kona Triathlon twice, and shooting for getting there again this year. My situation is that I only want to be on the bike 2, max 3 times a week, so I need to make my workouts count. One of the workouts (rides) will definitely be with a group of people, as that's where I get the most fun. Probably the other workout will be an interval workout. Anyway, looking forward to learning more and improving.

Have to jump in the shower now, have shopping to do and this evening, my DH and I will go to see Harry Potter with my mom. Tomorrow is a surprise birthday party for my sister and birthday party for my mom. We'll also cut Christmas trees and in the evening, go see the Narnia movie. Whew!

Rhea, does your husband iron too? Or just get out the board? Don't think I've ever seen my DH iron. He does cook pretty well though.

Will check in later, but really have to get going as daylight is burning.

Jeanette

Hi Karen, Rhea, Jeanie, and Jeanette,

Jeanette - your fitness goals sound exciting!

I am just trying to maintain this month with the goal of gettgin 5-6 workouts of 30-40 minutes per workout. I an pretty much sticking to the December workout but substituting the run days and the weather has been bad here in Virginia - no snow but that really cold rain and wind.

My right shoulder still has it's good and bad days. I think I need to devote more time to range of motion at this point to get it back to 100%.

Natalie

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Great to hear from you all. It's really cool that we are all continuing to maintain our workouts depite the busy schedule and season -- it was Body Max for me again today -- but the last part of it -- the weight, upper body workout. I had thought I might get in a run after, but time was short and I didn't get alot of sleep last night, so I left it at that. Natalie -- I'm sort of following along the December rotation, as well -- but I'm having to substitute alot of the workouts, as I don't have them all.

Rhea -- if you have your husband trained to iron -- I think that's great -- at least if he's trainable, it might make it easier for him to be reminded that you do work out now and again... You brought a smile to my face. And Jeanette, your hubby cooks -- wow! That's great. I must admit that my hubby does his own ironing, mostly cause if he waited for me to do it...

Have fun in San Francisco, Rhea -- sounds fabulous.

And Natalie -- the range of motion seems like a good idea -- and are you doing stretching, as well? Since I've been stretching with Cathe, I've noticed that my chiro appointments have been cut in half...which saves me a bit of money... I'm really glad to see that you're still keeping with your workouts, however.

Wow, what a day you have planned for tomorrow, Jeanette -- and what fun Harry Potter and Narnia all in the same day -- plus birthday parties -- I'll be thinking of you tomorrow as I struggle to get through my correspondence (which has stacked way up) and wrapping.

Anyway, have a terrific weekend, everyone. Hope your shopping is fun and your parties fantastic!:7

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!;-)

What a weekend, huh? Oh, there's another post from me before this one -- just so you know.

Okay, so Jeanette I can't wait to hear what you thought of Harry Potter and also Narnia. I think we'll make Narnia the movie that we go to see on Christmas day. Trisha (from my Blackfeet family) has her 3 grandchildren with her -- and so I think this would be a movie they would like. Do you agree? I can't wait to see it.:p

And Rhea, how was San Francisco? Bet it was really, really fun.

How were everyone's parties? I really can't wait to hear from you both.

Well, we finally got our Christmas decorations up -- those outside, as well as inside -- tree is up and everything -- boy, it's a full day project, isn't it?

Anyway, about the December rotation -- I will still do a TimeSaver rotation, I think -- since I have limited time and much to do. But I don't have the Step, Jump and Pump DVD -- so I'm going to have to substitute. So I'll have to figure this one out, as well. Here goes:

Monday: IMAX2 -- about 51 minutes -- (I'm changing the schedule around a bit) -- (this is plyometrics and anaerobics)

Tuesday: High Step Challenge -- the 51 minute premix -- (this is full body & cardio & Plyometrics) -- I wish I had another of these premixes that are shorter -- I love this workout because of this

Wednesday: 20 minute run and stretch (about 40 minutes) -- (cardio)

Thursday: MIC step only and 200 walking lunges (about 40 minutes)-- this is lower body & Cardio & plyometrics

Friday: Body Max -- warm up and all weight segment only -- about 45 minutes (this is upper body)

Saturday: Sprint 8 outside -- with warm up and cool down and all -- this is about 40-45 minutes -- (this is anaerobics)

Sunday: Off

Can't wait to hear about your weekends. Mine was quiet, I bet, compared with yours -- but I'm really happy that we got the decorations up. Have a terrific day and great workouts everyone.:7

Good morning Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

Seems like so long since I've posted, just been busy, but in a good way. I've decided to do the Upper Body Bliss workout for a little while as that was a good one for me and hopefully it will get me focusing on cleaner eating. Have been kind of bad the last few days, lots of parties, concert, etc.

Friday, after the repairman fixed my new stove, I got to do some Christmas shopping and also picked up a Christmas tree permit. That night, DH and my mom and nephew went to see Harry Potter. I did enjoy it, though I feel like I need to get the books from my mom and start reading them. She really loves reading them and says they keep her attention. Anyway, the movie kept mine!

Saturday, our big family all went out Christmas tree cutting, birthday parties for my sister and mother too. It was a lot of fun with a big bonfire, eating cookies and pumpkin bars, also Peppermint Patties (hot chocolate, peppermint schnapps and whipped cream). I only had one of those but too many cookies. I didn't do a workout that morning, made it my rest day. In the evening, we went to see the Narnia movie. I liked it, but not as much as Harry Potter. I just didn't get into the characters as much. Be interesting to see if they come out with more Narnia movies.

Yesterday, I did the group bike ride, only 20 miles as we stopped off at one of the member's house for coffee and pumpkin bread. It was nice to do that, was in the low 30's so it was nice to warm up and do more visiting. That afternoon, I went with a girlfriend and another couple to see Nickel Creek in Reno. We went to Macaroni Grill beforehand and I had a nice light dinner with a glass of wine. It was just right! Anyway, long evening, didn't get home from Reno until 12:15 a.m. so I called in late to work this morning and did my Cathe workout. I'll just go in at 8:00 instead of my usual 6:00.

Will be working on getting the tree up after work tonite.

Rhea, hope your trip to San Francisco was good. Karen, your rotation for the week sounds very good. I'm going to focus on eating cleaner this week, don't foresee any potlucks, parties, etc. so that should help.

Good workouts to all!

Jeanette

Good morning!

Wow, sounds like everyone had wonderful weekends. Me too. San Francisco was wonderful and actually warm (well, to me it was) No wind or fog. Ate way too much at Puccini and Pucchetti, a wonderful italian restaurant that we discovered a couple of years ago. We walked all around Union Square after dinner (had too, couldn't sit anymore, it hurt.)

This week is back on the band wagon. I am not going to the last class tonight. Just don't want to get on the road again. I'll be working out, that's for sure. I think my blood has congealed. At least that's what it feels like.

Well, I suppose I should try and get some sort of work done.

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Am logging on late tonight -- got caught up in a movie from Blockbuster -- Blizzard -- have you seen it? It was really good -- really good. I guess it's a kid's movie -- but it was terrific.

Anyway, the upshot is that I'm late getting to bed tonight -- it's so good to hear about your weekends. Sounds like you both had alot of fun.

Rhea, you made me laugh out loud about having to walk around Union Square cause you couldn't sit down. And Jeanette -- I don't think I'd be able to not eat some of those things, too -- it all sounds so good -- I think it's great that you were watching it as much as you were. It's hard to stay on a diet during the holidays -- but I think you have the right idea, which is to jump right back on the wagon.

Wasn't Harry Potter good? The books are even better than the movies, cause you can really get into the characters and their lives. I've read them all dozens of times (except for the last one). Not sure that the rest of the family will have seen Harry Potter -- so maybe we'll give everyone a choice on which movie they want to see. Am really looking forward to Christmas day.

Hmmm...coffee and pumpkin bread. Makes my mouth water. What a nice treat after 20 miles, huh? Am really looking forward to seeing the Narnia movie -- it would be interesting if they do any of the other Narnia's, as well.

Anyway, today it was IMAX2 for me, which I love. I think I'm beginning to get my energy back again, which felt really good. Tomorrow is the 51 minute -- or shortened version -- of HSC. I'm really growing to like that workout very much -- especially the pre-mixes.

Anyway, I'd best head off to bed now. So much to do tomorrow... What a busy time of year, huh?

Have a wonderful day and terrific workouts.:7

Hi everyone!
It was Lowmax for me today. This one always makes me sweat for some reason, though my heartrate doesn't get up there as much as on Imax2. Something about bending those legs that's work for me. Yes, Karen, I love Imax2 also. Am glad to hear the energy is coming back for you.

My mom's going to bring over her Harry Potter books soon to get me started. She too really loves the books. I hear such good things from everyone who reads them.

Rhea, glad you had a good time in San Francisco and the weather was decent. We're in this dreaded inversion again. Hope it blows away soon as it just feels so bone chilling when you go outside. Think it stayed in the 30's all day yesterday.

I was tired yesterday evening from getting in late from the concert so didn't get the tree up. Will try to do that tonite.

Good workouts all!

Jeanette

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Oh, Jeanette, I think you'll really enjoy the Harry Potter books -- I have loved them -- each one -- except the ending of this last one. I still have my nose sort of out of joint with where the story took me on this last one (the 6th book). But I think you'll really, really enjoy them.

Well, it was HSC for me today -- that's really a good workout -- even though I only did the 50 minute version. I'm liking that workout more and more.

Yes, LowMax really gets me sweating, too. Funny that I've only done that workout a few times. I do like it -- I think I'll have to go in and look at the premixes that make it a little shorter in length. That 51 minutes with IMAX2 is just great for me.

Did you have fun putting up the tree? I'm so glad that our decorations are up. And I did get the presents wrapped for my daughter -- ready to send off tomorrow -- now I have to finish the presents to the in-laws in Montana -- and then I can concentrate closer to home -- and get to work on the new book, as well.;)

It was cold here today, too, Jeanette -- well, cold for LA -- probably in the 40's at night and 50's during the day -- although at the peak of the day -- it was probably in the 60's. But for us, that's cold -- it was beautiful, though -- sunshiny and pretty.

Well, tomorrow it's a 20 minute run outside and stretch with Cathe -- just recently got the stability ball and so I think I'll do that stretch segment for the first time. I really enjoy Cathe's stretches.

Have a terrific day tomorrow and great workouts, everyone.:7

Hi Karen, Rhea, Natalie & Jeanie:

It was S&H triceps and PUB chest (up only) and 1 segment of coremax for me today. I have a nice burn going in my triceps right now.

Karen, I stopped on my way home from work yesterday and did some Christmas shopping so didn't feel like getting the tree up, though DH reminded me that we were going to do it. It'll have to be tonite.

Karen, you're much better than I am about wrapping. That's one of the last things I do, I procrastinate so much when it comes to that. May go over to the little town of Chester with my mom this Saturday to do a little shopping. She gets so overwhelmed in a bigger town like Reno that she won't make a decision by herself. She's looking for a dress for my niece's wedding in mid-January. I'll just bring outfits out for her to try on, take back, etc. Helps her out and I also give feedback. It's kind of fun and know she appreciates it.

We're still in this cold fog inversion layer thingy. Kind of depressing, but actually, if I were to drive about 10 miles from here, I'd be up out of it. Will have to do that soon.

Must go now, and great workouts to everyone.

Jeanette

Good morning!

Yep this darn inversion layer is getting rather depressing. I like it on Christmas day, but not for days on end.

Well, let's see, I got to workout Monday, did Turbo Jam Cardio Mix #2. Yesterday's workout got trashed for have a few drinks at the Casino (don't like the smoke, but I put up with it for a couple of glasses of wine) Ate at the Lava Grill, terrible food. Did the buffet, I think it was a slow night and the food had been sitting there for a while.

DH has a meeting after school today, so I'm planning a good long workout. I can't wait to get the endorphins running through my system.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Jeanette & Rhea & Natalie & Jeanie!:)

Well, got alot done today, but didn't do all the workout that I wanted. Did a 22 minute run -- and complete with warm up and cool down, it was about 35 minutes -- meant to come back and stretch -- always something I love to do -- but when I came home, one of the fellows my hubby works with had been in the house -- and he must've been wearing some sort of perfumey aftershave or something -- I'm very sensitive to these chemical perfumes -- and he'd been sitting in the living room where I work out, so I opted not to do the stretch until the scent was gone.

As you might imagine, I just didn't get back to it -- got involved in other things... But the run was good.

Your workout sounds fascinating, Jeanette. Tell me, do you flip in DVD after DVD, or do you have a DVD player that will just play the DVD's one after the other, with the press of a button. I have to change each one, which I do sometimes.

Rhea, I don't like those inversion layers either -- we get them here in LA, too. But we didn't have one today -- it was pretty and sunny here today. Hope you got that nice long workout -- which one did you do?

That food sounds terrible, Rhea. It's one reason why I tend to dislike buffets -- I'm never sure how long the food's been there.

Jeanette, I love shopping -- even if I'm not the one that's doing the shopping -- it sounds like fun, actually. It's an awfully nice thing for you to do, too. I love it if one of my daughter's comes shopping with me. It's a real treat for me.

Well, I skimped on the wrapping today, too. I procrastinate, as well - it's only that I know I have to get these things done and sent out -- but one of my most favorite experiences on Christmas eve is to sit up wrapping Christmas presents. A good movie -- something hot to drink -- a warm fire -- hmmm...I really like it.

Well, tomorrow is MIC -- cardio only and then 200 walking lunges. I think I may opt for cardio/step only of Body Max and the 200 walking lunges instead -- I'm just more familiar with the Body Max workout and I really like it.

Happy workouts, everyone. And have a terrific day.:7 ;(

Good morning ladies!

Today was Rhythmic Step (3 combos, no challenge) and CTX Kickbox Abs. Total workout right around 1 hour. RS was really fun for me today. Hadn't done the kickbox abs for a while and I liked the variety with planks, etc. I really think CTX is a great series.

Karen, no, I don't have a DVD changer. I just swap them out, but they don't take long to load. So much better than videos, IMO.

I did get my tree up last night, Hooray! Almost finished decorating. Glad I got busy and have it behind me. Must finish shopping for a few more things. Think DH will go to Reno this weekend and do his shopping. He'll also probably pick up the dog presents too. Still waiting to hear from my mom whether she wants to go to Chester to shop for a dress. I'd really like to go with her, but it will be her decision.

Karen, too bad about the smell in the house, causing you to be wary. I'm fortunate I'm not sensitive to much of anything. I work with a lady that is so sensitive to anything, even food cooking (the smell) will set her off and stuff up her nose. Hard for me to understand that one.

Karen, where do you go to run? Neighborhood? Park? I may start the running again when the weather gets better. I enjoyed going with DH this summer. I got to pushing a bit too hard and it bothered my knees, but think if I'd kept the pace slower it wouldn't have. Anyway, will try again later.

Must go now.

Jeanette

Good morning you lovely ladies!

Well, we're getting more snow today. It isn't even offically winter yet, and I'm about sick of the cold and snow! I must admit that it DOES put me in the Christmas spirit!

Karen Kay, I also work with a lady that is extremely sensitive to smells. Because of that, I actually removed my office air freshner (which I loved). We can't even make flavored coffee, because it sends her into a dizzy. That must be aweful.

I gave my hubby heck last night when he told me he took my gifts to a place to have them professionally wrapped. I think he said it was ONLY $7.00 a gift, but to me that's highway robbery! I mean, how hard is it to stick some paper and a bow on something?

Well, back to work. I'm on vacation starting next Wedneday until after the new year. Yay!!!!

-- Jeanie

Good morning!

Hi Jeanie....so glad to see you here. I love being able to catch up with everyone. Send me some snow would ya? It's just cold here, none of the white stuff. I'd wrapped presents all day if I was paid $7.00 a present.

Karen, I ended up doing Cardio Kicks and then Turbo Jam Abs...great workout. It ended up being about 1:25, but 53 minutes in the HR zone and 423? or something calories burned. My back is a bit tight this morning, but heck, I worked it out last night. Also, I can feel my triceps, so I must have had my form pretty good for the upper body stuff.

Jeanette, you reminded me, the only thing left for me to get is the doggies and the kitties. Oh, did I tell you, my female is going to have puppies and I finally figured out that they are due around Christmas sometime. So we don't get to go anywhere for the Holidays, we'll have puppies to take care of!

Have a great day everyone!

Rhea, the snow is on its way! I ordered you 3 inches, okay?

I don't have TJ abs or the TJ lower body workout. How is that lower body one? I might have to get that one! I just love Chalene and her choice of music!
