August

Cathlete
Good morning!

Okay, I have to tell you how much I totally CRACKED UP to see who started yesterday's post! LMAO LMAO!!! Corrie, you're too funny and you MUST join in with us when you can. LMAO with you!!

Anyway, I've been well, still having a bit of a busy week. From yesterday it got so Springy and lovely here, I hope it keeps up! I felt so inspired by the nice weather that I took today's cardio and did a mongo cleanup of my apartment. Um, that's cardio, isn't it?

The hay fever pollens are blowing up a storm over here. Luckily I don't have it too bad, but the people who have it bad have it BAD. There is some new kind of over-the-counter medicine for it where you put some ointment on your finger and dig it up into you nostril and rub in around. Apparently it works really well, except the application of it is not a pretty sight. The TV commercial for it is pretty funny.

Corrie - Welcome! We're so happy to see you here! About rotations, I usually make up my own rotations every month. This month I'm doing 2 weeks of S&H with cardio in between, and then 2 weeks of Pyramid with cardio in between. But like Arista and Robin, sometimes I'll have to sub things around when my work schedule is such, so I'm not totally stapled up to my rotation. But for me it makes things a lot easier to have a set rotation so that I can just look on my calendar and take out the DVD I need, rather than to think about anything like what I feel like doing or what I should do.

All right, so I had step on my calendar today and did scrubbing, but the rotation more than often keeps me on track.

Arista - LMAO at your guesses at where we all must have been. Ahh, I would love to confirm with you that I was in a tub of donuts. But instead I have to tell you something boring like I was working. Yes, I was clothed and out of my apartment working.

>I'm eating an apple right now and the sun is shining.

How good does that sound! That sentence is so filled with happy stuff....Ryan's 30th is coming up? Yeah, it would be nice to think up something special for that one. Have you come up with any other ideas? A day trip does sound nice if you can't do an overnight.

Jen - So glad to hear that you are feeling better! Your rotation looks great.

Janjan - Hi, jet-setter! So are you the Mileage Point Queen or what?

Robin - Welcome back! We're very, very bummed about your lost post. Woo hoo, pasta party! That was a nice idea to have a little get-together to eat the pasta. I'm glad it was a good time!

Diane - Great new photos! I hope you had a great relaxing day.

Mariah - How are you doing?

Terri - How fun to think of lost weight as certain amounts of food! Wow, 3.5 pounds of fat is 14 sticks of butter?...Sounds like your rotation is going smoothly. From my own experiences with my HRM, 600 cals burned for 50 min of kickboxing does sound a little high for an average workout, but that may have more to do with the amount of effort I'M putting out LOL. If you're sweating from your elbows, maybe 600 isn't too far off. Have you been feeling hungry with the cals you're currently eating?...I'm glad you posted the photos. WOW! Cool! How fun that looks to walk in! Really great photos!

Michele - How funny that the exterminators can talk to the ants to find out that they are looking for water. No wonder they were all over Kitty's water dish. Well, if you're going to have an ant problem, you may as well have one that your exterminators can brag to their exterminator friends about. Enjoy your prescribed eating out and I'll keep my fingers crossed that your house will be back to normal in a few days.

Oh, I've seen that kitty playing the piano! That is so cute. I've also seen one where a kitty is playing a synthesizer that is really funny. I looked around for it but couldn't find it to post a link.

Dana -

>Don't they know that the water is outside. DUH!!!

LOL! Apparently they prefer filtered.

Yup, there is pizza in Japan, but they're much smaller and twice the price. But that doesn't stop anyone from ordering them. There are Dominoes and Pizza Hut and all those lovelies here, too.....AHH! That puppy is adorable!!

Deb - Congrats on the good eats and to the start of your P90X! (How do you "sort of" start that thing? LOL) Hope you had fun skiing!

Shelley - LMAO, I just read your post where you asked Jen pretty much the same question. Glad to hear that Jen scolded you to come post because we were missing you.

Kara - Hey, you! Urgh, allergies. I hear you. They are really going around right now over here, too. Apparently people who never had allergies before are getting them this year. I'm so glad about that so that they everyone can know how it feels LOL. Mine are bad in the Autumn, if you can believe that....Oh man, I wish I hadn't read your review about P90X, I'm already so on the edge of wanting to buy it.

All right, I'd better get my jive on.

Have a great Monday and talk to you later!

:*

Good day August. I'm so glad you are back and giving those helpful synopisis (is the pleural synopsi?) of what everyone is doing. I always seem to miss something. Funny about the allergy medicine. That gives everyone a good excuse to pick in public, doesn't it. Even those without allergies or medicine on their finger.

I still haven't figured out which rotation to shoot for this month. I think I dreamed about it last night. I seem to remember almost waking up and thinking about Boot Camp and part of Imax all on one day.

I'm headed for work. Hopefully I'll have a workout decision made by this afternoon. I'll check back later.

Have a great Monday all you haters.

Oh my goodness August!!! You wonder why I don't post - how on earth am I supposed to keep up with everyone's lives! You are my forum hero!

I have been posting here and there, and I am getting pretty brave, 'cause I gave my 2 cents about a touchy subject, just this morning!! All in favour of porn raise your hand! (JUST KIDDING GIRLS! - don't kick me out!)

I made a rotation for myself last night, but after getting up at 1:15 am and NOT going back to bed, I may need to sub something light in today. I thought that I was in good shape, and then I got the Body Blast series, and THEN I noticed that everyone in the forums thinks these are just intermediate workouts. I guess it will be a while before I try the Insanity series.

Gotta go check on my poor puking daughter - I hear a moan.

Hope you all are having a great day.
Corrie

Morning ladies!

August - I now have an image in my head of a bunch of Japanese people walking around with their fingers up their noses:p

Robin - Bootcamp and half of an Imax? Sounds like the Jan-06 rotation, or maybe the August 05 one. The August 05 rotation has Bootcamp.... twice. It's not so bad as it sounds though:p

Corrie - my poor DD is sick too, but thankfully she's not puking. I stuffed her full of ibuprofen and sent her to school this morning, but I have a feeling I may be getting a call to go get her. She's got the sore throat, swollen glands, headache, fever thing. Ugh.

I'm so tired I can't think of anything else to say. *face plants on keyboard and starts snoring*

G'mornin!

Monday...it's Monday. Today is New Life Monday...no, wait!...it's GOLDEN New Life Monday. Today is the day I start Cathe's intermediate rotation. Oh Gawd, I need vibes baby...send me some VIBES!! Today is LIC and I can't remember if I've ever done that one. I know I previewed it but I don't think I actually ever DID it. All in all, this should be interesting. Tomorrow is KPC;( . Ya wanna see somethin funny? Pull up a chair and watch me kickbox.

I had a pretty good weekend with my darlin DH. Oh! I promised you a funny story, didn't I? Here goes.

I had to go to the laundromat Saturday to wash my mattress pad and down blanket. I stripped the bed and was headed out the door when DH says to wait up because he wanted to go with me:eek:. I told him he didn't have to do that, that he would be bored out of his mind and I knew he had paper work to do at home, but he insisted and it was non stop hilarity from that moment on. He about drove me crazy.

It started with the washing machine. He felt a need to read the instructions to me over and over again. He seemed concerned and even a little distraught that I may not have used enough detergent. He kept saying, "...but you're supposed to put detergent in at the start of the soak cycle AND the wash cycle". I assured him that that was to encourage people to buy more detergent. He was truly mesmerized by the washing machine, parking his chair right in front of it as if it were a TV and he was watching the last few seconds of a major sporting event where the winner was yet to be determined.

When it came time to dry our bedding, DH was faced with yet another dilemma -- how many quarters to put in the machine. He was confronted with his own prejudice that the dryer would not give him the full amount of time he paid for if he put 2 quarters in at once -- so he wanted to put one quarter in at a time until our load was dry -- *SIGH*.

Mind you, I took a book with me to occupy my time, as did DH, but he was just too fixated to bother with reading, or to allow me to read. He paced back and forth in front of the dryers, arms akimbo, waiting for the cycle to end. I didn't have to worry about noticing when the dryer stopped. DH would make the announcement, scurry over to our dryer, fling it open and check to see if our things were dry. For some odd reason he was never able to tell so he'd invariable ask me to check again.

As we folded our last item, DH reminisced about how he used to accompany his grandmother to the laundromat and how much enjoyed being there with me. He said when he was a little boy he used to pretend the dryers were rocket launchers :+ . ROTFLMAO! I can't think of a better profession for him than pediatrics, can you?

Holey crap! Sorry about the novel.

August, I'm so anxious for spring! It's a beautiful sunny day today but it's so cold! I can't wait for it to warm up. There's still snow on the ground from last week. --I suffer from allergies, too, but I've never heard of this stuff you shove up your nose. I'll have to ask DH if there's anything like that around here. I pretty much have allergies all year round.

I think scrubbing is a great workout. Really, it is! It counts for cardio.

My ant problem is much better but it's still an issue. DH and I were watching a little TV before bed last night and I found an ant crawling up my sweater:eek: x( . I haven't seen any in the kitchen for 2 days but I'm not supposed to wash away the bait for anther 7 days. It looks terrible -- I can't wait till I can wash it off.

Robin, I think you should do the Jan 07 rotation. You were concerned about putting some weight back on and this is a weight loss rotation. I might do it after I finish the intermediate rotation.

Corrie, welcome! It's nice to have you. I completely agree with your assessment of August. She's a treasure, that's for sure! --I've been debating about posting in the porn thread but maybe I'll let it pass.

I don't consider the Blast series intermediate at all! One thing I have noticed, and this remark may ruffle a few feathers, but I think there are some who like like to talk about how easy a workout is so we will think they're uber fit or something -- lol! Some of the women around here are very competitive so don't allow yourself to get sucked into all that. Compete with yourself only and be happy with your own progress.

Ooh, sorry to hear your daughter is sick. I hope she's feeling better real soon.

Terri, I just have to say that your family is BEAUTIFUL! The pictures you took were fantastic and it looks like you're living in a wonderland! I'm glad you were able to make good use of all that snow with fun and frolic, and a great workout!

Arista, have you decided on a gift for Ryan? It sounds like you're working pretty much nonstop. I just realized you are working 2 jobs
 . When will you be quitting your old job? My goodness gracious, you have a lot on your plate, young lady!

Dana, how was your weekend? Hows your hair? Were you able to keep it smooth? I just have to say again -- you are one gorgeous lady!

Mariah, hugs and prayers abound for you.

Diane, how are you? Are you caught up on your rest?

Everyone else (Gawd, I hope I didn't miss anybody), what 'cha all up to?

I'm off to do LIC:eek: See ya later:* :*

ETA Shelley, I'm sorry to hear that Sophie is sick. I hope you can get a little rest today. I kind of hope they call you to pick her up -- it sounds like you could both use the rest.

OMG Michele, your DH sounds hilarious! That would have driven me crazy!

And I'm secretly hoping the school calls too.;)

Good morning Haters -

August - Thanks for the synopsis. I had missed a few things too it seems. I hope your work life gives you some free time soon. And heck yes, cleaning counts for cardio!! I cleaned yesterday instead of working out too. I figure if I have an hour, I could spend it more wisely than jumping around my living room on a plastic bench.

Cora - Your porn post made me LOL. I think you'll find we're a wacky and varied bunch, and we won't kick you out for approving of porn. I admit that I'd rather that there be porn out there, than my BF goes off oogling REAL LIVE women. LOL Sorry about the lack of sleep... I'm feeling rather groggy myself. I hope your DD feels better soon.

Michele - Your laundromat story made ROTFLMAO!! Your DH sounds like a character, and I can understand you're wanting him to stay home... but he didn't want to miss the rocket launchers!! LOL My BF is the same way... if I take him anywhere where anything actually needs to get done, like the bank or the grocery store, it either takes much longer than usual or (and this is most often the case), it last for a much shorter time and I enjoy myself much less than if I had been allowed to dawdle over the string cheese and soy milk.

And thank you... uber-applause for your <<I don't consider the Blast series intermediate at all! One thing I have noticed, and this remark may ruffle a few feathers, but I think there are some who like like to talk about how easy a workout is so we will think they're uber fit or something -- lol! Some of the women around here are very competitive so don't allow yourself to get sucked into all that. Compete with yourself only and be happy with your own progress.>>

As someone who is VERY competitive with herself and others, its nice to have a voice of reason around! Good lord, the first time I did those Blast workouts, I was blown away by how tough they were (oh wait, still am :+ ) and Boot Camp was nigh impossible to finish. (oh wait, still is). And now that I barely have time to fit in working out between two jobs and school, its been hard for me not to get down on myself. But making steady progress is the key (or at least maintaining where you're at) and competing with YOURSELF is a great idea! (except when you're nearly perfect like I am... that can make it VERY tough to ever be happy with where you're at) :p

Shelley - "August - I now have an image in my head of a bunch of Japanese people walking around with their fingers up their noses" LMAO!! Me too. I hope your DD has a better day than you're anticipating.

Robin - I hope your workout quandry resolves itself.

Diane, Dana, Mariah, Terri, and Jen (and anyone else I may have left out...), Have a great DAY. I better get to work. BBL!

Hi ladies. Sorry I was MIA over the weekend. Both Fri & Sat night I went to bed at 8:00 and yesterday I fought all day w/DH and then he decided to pull a Ryan (yes Arista, talking about your man, LOL) and I could not sleep. Basically, what happened was I spent 3 hours getting our taxes ready for the accountant. When I was done, he comes in and starts asking me all sorts of questions like I'm stupid. So we both scream at each other, then around 3:00 he leaves to go the bar, didn't get home until around 11:30. I was furious although I didn't speak to him. I cannot believe he would behave so childish. He has 2 little boys and he does not need to go out and behave the way he did. I am still mad. Of course, he ALWAYS blames me. But, enough about me . . .

Michele - that story is hilarious about your DH. He acted like he never used a washing machine. Too funny! Glad your ants are gone. What a relief. Jan 2007 fat loss rotation??? I'm going to check that out in a bit. My hair is back to curly today. I was not in the mood to wash/dry/straighten it at 5:00 this morning. I may do it tonight though.

Cora - hey! Welcome to the haters club. I always have good intentions to do a rotation, I print them out, and I have never done one.

Terri - you snow pics are wonderful! It looks just like a winterwonderland and your kids are beautiful.

Geeze, these 30 minutes lunches fly by. Sorry I can't chat more w/you all but it is already 12:30 :( Hi to August, Arista, Diane, Shelly, Deb, Jana, Mariah, Kate, Jen, Robin and hopefully I didn't forget anyone. Sorry if I did.

I just looked out the window and it is snowing like mad. That's great.

Michele, I had to share your DH story with co-workers. That is a riot. And what is he like at the grocery store?

I did the Jan '07 rotation, with some substituting and missed the last week of workouts for some reason. Maybe I'll look into doing it again. I may just bite the bullet and admit I, too, am an intermediate level and do this months rotation. Such a dilemma!

Dana, I missed your post. I'm so sorry for your marital problems. I hope your DH apologizes.

OK, I know you are all chewing your fingernails, waiting to see which rotation I've decided to do. LOL. I'm going to attempt Nov 06. I never did a rotation with the new workouts, since Greyor was born and in the hospital most of Nov. Whew, that's a huge weight off my shoulders.

Hello Haters-

Some of you I am familiar with from the <--- thread. I decided to introduce myself here as I am trying to lose post twin weight and need all the help/ecouragement/butt kicking I can get! My babies are 15 months old now, and I would say I still need to lose about another 40 pounds (I have already lost 20lbs). Unfortunately, the pregnancy was difficult, and I was on bed rest for months. I have exercised on and off (depending on school/work) all of my life and am trying to get back into shape. My main goal is to be healthy, both for myself and as an example to my girls (Mary Anne and Evelyn). I have only recently kicked myself into high gear to lose the weight. My DH is very resistant to healthy eating, and refuses to exercise:-( . I am hopefull he will come around:).

Sorry this is so long. I have been lurking and trying to learn about everyone here. Sometimes it is overwhelming, but I think I can catch on!:7

Good afternoon chickies!

>>and competing with YOURSELF is a great idea! (except when you're nearly perfect like I am... that can make it VERY tough to ever be happy with where you're at)<<

ROTFLMAO!!!

Dana, I'd be mad, too, darn it!

Ooh, now I want a curly picture . I can't be bothered with straightening my hair anymore. I used to try when i was in high school and curly hair was considered ugly. I've learned to appreciate my hair for what it is and let it go au naturale. I just wish it would curl the same way 2 days in a row --lol!

Robin, you don't even want to know what it's like to go grocery shopping with my DH:eek: ;(. Suffice it to say, it takes about an hour longer than usual;)

Ah, the Nov 06 rotation. good choice!

No, I haven't done my workout yet, but I have finished shopping for my sister's Bday presents:D . I ended up getting her the Polar F6 HRM. I debated and debated about whether or not to get her an HRM, and then which one -- UGH. I talked to her about it and she was totally psyched about getting one (and it's something she cannot afford). So, with that decision out of the way, I narrowed the choices down to either the F6 or F11. I thought the F11 had more features than she would actually use so I opted for the F6. I hope she likes it.

okay, okay, I'm going to do my workout soon, I promise.

MSY!!! Welcome, welcome!! I'm so glad you chose us as your check-in preference. We'll do our best to kick your butt but only if you promise to kick back.

My DH is pretty resistant to a healthy lifestyle as well, but I'm working on him.

You'll get to know us in due course. We're a nice bunch albeit a little wacky at times:eek: :p

ETA congratulations on your 20# loss! I can't imagine how difficult it must've been to be on BR during your pregnancy. I'm confident you'll drop the rest.

Hi everyone! Well my sort-of wish was granted and I'm home with Sophie. She's on the couch watching Harry Potter. I'm wandering aimlessly. I need to do a leg workout today.

MSY - welcome! It's a fun check-in:)

Dana - I'd be absolutely livid too. Men... can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em. Without dire consequences, anyway.

Robin - I'm SO relieved you picked a rotation. It's been weighing heavily on my mind, lemme tell ya.;)

Okay, I'm off to share all the sordid details of my sex life on the porn thread}(

OK, this will be quick...

I always say that and then post a frikkin' year long diary. Seriously though, this will be short.

DANA - Oooh, I'd be so pissed at your DH right now. I am pissed at him. I hate it when guys do that. Ryan doesn't do that very often, except when it comes to street smart sorta stuff (he never questions my book smarts - he knows better than that!) He makes me so MAD sometimes!! It sounds like we have similar guy problems. I'm thankful Ryan and I don't have kids yet or they would've been really messed up by now. LOL We had a REALLY rocky first couple of years. Every now and then it still is, but we've both learned to say we're sorry and just move on with things. We clearly can't live without each other, so there's no need to wallow in it, at least not for more than a day or two }( ) In fact, we screamed at each other just this morning... and 15 minutes later we were fine again. Cuckoo!!

Robin - NOv. 06, huh? I'll have to check that one out. I, too, am glad you finally relieved me of worrying about your rotation. I was worrying more about yours than mine. Sadly, that's seriously true.

Michele - What the heck is an HRM? I'm pretty sure this is a stupid question... but please answer anyway. I love online shopping!!

MSY - Welcome! Please join our silly group. I'm currently trying to lose 20#, so let's do it together!!

Where is this porn thread?? Is there a new porn exercise video out or what? (I am amazed at how many 'naked' fitness videos there are on the market!!) Well, no I'm not.

OK, see, I already wrote too much. BBL

:+ :*

Hey Arista -- an HRM is a heart rate monitor. Don't feel bad, I often have no clue what abbreviations mean;)

No nekkid rotations allowed!! :p

Hi peoples-& hey to everybody else & Corrie & Msy-okay August and Shelley and whoever else may be wondering-what I meant by "kinda starting" P90X is that I'm not psyched up like I was a month ago to get it going so I started it anyway (I actually counted the day I did my fitness tests as the first day) and here I go-I just hope I get excited about it again (I know I will)-well skiing with the fam was sooo much fun, my 10 yr DD tried snowboarding for the first time and she's a natural-Michele-I'm thinking about buying an HRM how much are they??-BBL--deb

Hi Deb! So how did you fair with your fitness test? I'm glad your family enjoyed skiing/snowboarding.

I paid $109 for the F6. I think the F11 goes for about $160. I didn't see any place that offered them for less. I bought it from Polar USA website and they offer free shipping. HTH :)

I'm glad everyone was as relieved as I with my decision. I just finished Body Max 2 and am ready to go make a salad for dinner.

MSY, welcome to hateville. I hate cardio. (Pssst, is anyone else listening? I really, really love cardio. Especially in the middle of the summer when it's really hot and humid and you get really sweaty.)I like you daughter's names. Are they family names? They are kind of old fashioned.

Shelley, I'm very afraid of your sordid details. But then again, I could maybe learn a useful thing or two. Did you get your leg workout done?

Arista, why do I have visions of you working out nekkid, except for a HRM? How would Ryan react to that. Wait, maybe that should go on the porn thread.

OK, time to make the dinner. Have a great evening all.
