Chinner's Checkin 2-3-07

Catherine and Briee, you two inspire me to no end. I'm always in awe of natural strength and athletic ability. You've both got to cut yourselves some slack when you're not as consistent as you'd like to be.

Briee, your body and mind seem to require extremely intense (and often lengthy) workouts, but when it needs a break, it lets you know - AND THAT'S GOOD. So let yourself take those breaks when your body's screaming at you to do so and get back into the intensity it needs when it's telling you to do that. You could even try some restorative yoga on days you don't want intense exercise - you'd be surprised how calming it can be if you let your mind and body go there. (I had to stick that in there, didn't I?}()

Catherine, you've been plagued with nagging injuries this year and, even though you're taking breaks, it's obviously necessary for you and you're still going strong! I'm curious how your LB will respond to consistent B&G. And yay! PY4H once a week!:)

Sooooooooooooosan, thanks so much for your encouraging words. Everyone here is an inspiration to me!! I am trying to make sure that I pace myself and not get injured again. Will eventually take a rest week. But right now feeling pretty motivated. I had planned on doing B&G once a week along with a heavy leg w/o at the beginning of this year. But it turned into a S&H rotation and no B&G. So now maybe I just need to do B&G for a while.

I also agree that Briee works hard and does not need to worry about taking time off when life interfers!! She bounces right back like nothing.

Have a good day!

HA....you just THINK I bounce back like nothing. Do I have you guys buffalo'd or what!:7 :7 :7 . Now in reality I would just love for that to be true (and you are so sweet for the nice comments), but unfortunately, you have not witnessed me whining about my sore muscles, etc. x( x( x( .

Hey Catherine...did ya do B&G yet? I'm going down right now, it's 6:43 pm. So for the next hour or so I will have a love/hate relationship goin on with Soooooooooooooosan. I shall report back. }( }( }(

Briee (Hey Joanne....what workouts are ya doin lately? Want to join us in a B&G-fest?)

Oh don't go hangin your head in shame....I think you DESERVE a rest day!!! I counted up my "days in a row" and I have 6. YOU ARE MOTIVATING ME. And I REALLY need it!! Just finished B&G and am eating a salad and brussel sprouts. (another victory of sorts;) )

Soosan...I only do long workouts because I have missed so many. I would much rather be disciplined. I USED to be and want to get back at it - your example is encouraging.

I actually feel rather bad as I think if I was sticking to a "traditional" P90X rotation, today would have been YogaX. This thought hit me as I entered my workout room, but I KNEW that I had committed myself to B&G and decided to sacrifice my beloved Yoga day for a higher calling - a commitment to Catherine. I am such a martyr. :p :p :p :p

Briee

(edited to add smiley guy sticking out tongue :p )

LMAO at sacraficing Yoga day for a higher calling. Would that be your behind that is the higher calling? You know Soooooooooooosan said hers is higher now LOL because of B&G :+ :+

I really did need a day off. I would have worked out later, except that I had drank a couple of beers at dinner  hadn't done that in a while. Probably wouldn't have gotten much out of B&G after that.

Hey, did I tell ya'll that I am going to VEGAS!!! In April and it's a girls trip. My sisters and I are taking my mom. Gonna be great. We are gonna do the Grand Cannon and Hoover Damn too!! I am excited

OK, B&G is done!! Whew!! I completely forgot about the floor workx( x( I guess I have done the premixes the last few times and so when we were done with standing leg routine I was thinking done NOT!!! You should have heard me moaning and groaning. I really don't like floor work, but I did it all.

Soooooooooooosan, were you doing B&G in it's original form? Or did you do any of the premixes?

Waving hi to Joanne, Briee, Soooooooooooosan and anyone else who joins in all this fun}( }( }(

Yes....the glorious floorwork!! But doesn't it feel great to be DONE!!!! I did the whole thing too...no premixes. I was afraid that if I didn't do the whole thing....that one little exercise that I left out would alter my whole butt. Now there is NO excuse for a sagging tush.

I don't ache at all yet from B&G (been doin lots of leg work already this week). We'll see how I'm doing tonight though:eek:  .

Briee

Yay for you guys! Keep doing it once a week for the rest of the month and see if you notice anything. I agree, that floorwork is killer! I've never done a premix but almost always do the ab work separately. What's the world going to do with all our northern-facing butts?:)

I almost did the ab work seperately, but I just knew that I'd better get it done or I might not do it LOL! Ya know what gets me about floor work is being on the floor I just want to lie down and rest:+ :+

Soooooooooooosan, how is your friends son who had osteogenic sarcoma doing?

>Soooooooooooosan, how is your friends son who had osteogenic sarcoma doing?

I'm wondering too?

I just came up from doing a few Turbo Jams and then did Debbie H's "fluidity" routine. That's it for the day. Hmmmm...what do we do tomorrow. I'm thinking a P90X legs and back day, except I'll do Cathe GS Legs and then stick in chins/pulls. What are you guys doing?

Briee (gotta keep this string of workouts moving along:7 )

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow. Definately need to try to get in some chins. I think on Sunday I am gonna start Cathe's Nov rotation. I said start, now whether I finish or not is another story LOL :+

Briee, so what did you think of the Fluidity routine? I was reading the thread and well,... I'm not sold yet. But then again it took me a year to buy P90X!!

Thanks for asking about Nathan. He started chemo last Thursday and will be getting it in cycles for the next 42 weeks: 2 days of chemo, 3 wks off, 5 days of chemo, 3 wks off, 2 days of chemo, etc. I haven't heard anything further about radiation or surgery. He tolerated the first round pretty well but his jaw was hurting tremendously a few days afterward. The nurse told my friend this was a common side effect with the first treatment and that it won't happen during subsequent treatments. Anti-nausea medicine has been working really well. I talk to her every couple of days. She's really trying to maintain a sense of normalcy and Nathan and the family have good days and bad. She called me to remind me about a Valentine's Day party we're supposed to do for our first graders' class, which amazed me that she remembered we signed up in Sept. It's going to be a tough year but this community has really rallied around them and is constantly praying for Nathan.

On a different note, I did Drill Max yesterday and am not sure if I'll be able to work out today. If so, I think I might just do some yoga. Workouts like Drill Max and BC are great for my stamina, but I find myself losing weight when I do them weekly (something I don't want).

Enjoy your Saturday!:)

Glad to hear things are going OK for Nathan. They've come a long way with anti emetics. When I was administering chemo my poor patients were so sick. I will keep him in my prayers!!

Now on to chin up reporting. Did a total of 16 this afternoon. And realized this was my 3rd time of doing chins this week. If you count the mere 8 I did on Sun earlier in the week LOL. Never the less. I think being more consistent will help me build my strength and numbers back up.

How's everyone's Saturday?

Oh and not to repeat myself. But did you all hear me say I am going to Vegas Baby!! Do I sound excited?

Well, I made it thru BM2 today. That's only the second time I've done this one as is. Oh I must confess did it on a 6 inch step instead of 8. It made it much more doable. I can't believe I just said that LOL!! It's a good workout, but man o man it just keeps coming at ya. And of course I wanted to delay the ab work, but I went ahead and did it.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a run, but I will sub yoga. Now I just need to figure out where to fit my chinups in this rotation. It's all circuits and that makes it difficult to do my chins in between sets. Hmmm,... I'll figure something out.

Ta Ta for now chinners!!

Catherine

Catherine, good for you for doing BM2! (That rhymes:)) I've only done segments of that one but should set aside some time one day do the whole thing. I'm continuing with my same rotation this week, doing UB (including chins) today. I had cardio on my plate yesterday and usually do a short, intense routine, but I decided to do Rhythmic Step for a change. That really is a fun workout! I'm a big fan of complex choreography but more often do workouts with athletic moves because they're more physically challenging.

Somehow I missed that you were going to Vegas. How cool is that? When are you going and who's going with you?

What are the rest of you up to today?
