Buff Badgers 6/22-6-27

Good Morning! It´s been a while since I´ve posted. Was in Cincinnati for a week grading AP Spanish tests...they really work us, but while there I did get in a couple of short runs. It was also scheduled as a rest week, so when I got back I started Cathe´s June rotation and will continue that til Saturday when I go to FL with some work friends! Then it should be home for the rest of the summer!

You have all gotten some good workouts in! And to all with sarcastic DDs...add another here! I think it gets better as they get older...my DD21 is a joy but I do remember her High School days

Laurie, how was NASCAR? Did you get rained out? We haven´t had any power outage level storms...yet!

Susan, did you cut your hair? Post a pic! And congrats to DS on his ball game.

Karen, 7.5 mi in 57 minutes :eek: whoohoo! and them legs? You ARE one buff badger!

Sue, I´m not familiar with Top chef Masters. Is that a competition type show?

Hi ladies!

Lala, good to see you back! I must say I am jealous of your trip to Florida! Hope you have fun!

My weekend was fun but busy. Saturday I took Ruby for a 45mn walk and then did Circuit Max. Sunday I did nothing! :) Today I will be doing Pump Party while DS is at basketball camp and then will be getting on the elliptical after he gets home!

Had a nice time at my niece's graduation party. It was great to see family I had not seen in over a year or more. Those kids grow and change so fast!

Yes, I did cut my hair off! DH loves it and so do the kids so I will try to post a picture here. She cut off about 6-7 inches. So much easier to take care of! I also found some John Freida Frizz-Ease Curling gel and hairspray and I must say that stuff rocks! Being out in the heat and humidity all weekend and my hair did not frizz up at all!

Have a great day! Susan

Good Morning,

Today I did MM. Went for a 32 mile tandem ride on Sat. and took off Sun.

Lala, glad you got a chance to get in some runs inbetween working. Have fun in Florida. I am doing Cathe's June rotation also. I have been switching things around a bit because I will be gone for 3 days this week visiting my parents with the kids. The boys get to go to a Brewer game with my dad and my brother and we are all going to the water park in the Dells. My DH will have to fend for himself for a couple of days. It has never happened before.

Susan, you really workout a lot. I wish I could workout more than once a day but I just can't sike myself up for anymore than the one time I do it. Glad you enjoyed the graduation. Kids do change and grow up quickly. Can't wait to see your haircut. I got mine cut last week, short again.

Hi Laurie and Sue.

Havae a great day.

Morning All,

This morning I managed to get in 4DS Kickbox premix. Really had a hard time getting up this morning. Saturday was BBC Extreme 1000, and BBC Belly Blaster. Sunday was a faire day so I didn't work out.

The NASCAR races where good, but the Friday one had to run on Saturday afternoon. We where at the track, and had to get on one of the buildings because again funnel clouds where spotted. :( I really like these races at night vs. full sun, I managed to sweat off the sunscreen. My legs managed to get burnt, but my arms where fine! The night race was won by a guy I like, so it ended up being a good time.

Lala, Glad to see you back from grading all those papers. :) Thanks for the comfort on the sarcastic DD's. My oldest can be such a sweetheart at times, and then at others what she says can be so mean. At least I know this to shall pass. :)

Susan, I would love to see pics of your new do! I want to get some more pics of my dress added to what I have. I have been busy beading on my sleeves, and bodice. Thank you for the info on the Frizz-Ease. Myself and my youngest suffer through the summer with this same problem.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Karen, You snuck in! :) Your visit with the kids sounds like fun. And of course the ball game and the waterpark will be the highlight. We are planning on spending a day at the Dells this summer to. I usually love the lazy river the best!

Laurie

Lala - Nice to hear from you. Top Chef Masters is a competition like Top Chef (if you're familiar with that). The difference between the 2 is that TCM features well-known (in the cooking world anyway) chefs vs. up-and-comers. The TCM chefs compete for charity whereas the TC chefs compete to win $100,000 to start their own restaurant. I enjoy watching it but CAUTION! Do not watch when you're hungry. ;)

Susan - Add me to the list of people who want to see your new haircut. :D Good workouts.

Karen - Have fun at the Dells. DH wants to go next week but I'm just not in the mood. He has so many things he wants to do on our week off and I like to RELAX when I'm on vacation.

Laurie - Ren Faire is starting in a couple of weeks, isn't it? Better get that beading done! ;) And post pictures of your dress.

I didn't do Shred 2 & 3 until Saturday. No reason - just lazy. Added on Prevention Fight Cellulite Fast lower body toning segment. On Sunday I did a 2 mile walk. Took a nap yesterday afternoon and didn't get anything else in. This morning I did MM Upper Push/Pull premix 33 min. DD has a 6:30 softball game so I'm not hopeful of getting in any cardio tonight. I don't like starting cardio after 8:00. If I do, I stay up later which makes it harder to get up the next morning.

Took DH out for Mexican last night. He was bummed he couldn't use his coupon but at least the food was good (Casa del Rio). I had crabmeat tostadas which were good but all they had on the corn tortillas was guacamole, lettuce and crab. It could have used a little cheese for flavor I think.

Good Morning,

Today we are going for the group tandem ride. The kids tubed down the river by our house and played on the sandbar yesterday. Today they were invited to swim in a friends pool. Tomorrow early we leave for my parent's house. No workouts for me for a few days. Got to go out last night for another tandem ride.

Laurie, you are gearing up for Ren. Faire. How is it going so far this year? Glad you enjoyed the races. It is more enjoyable to watch things with the hot sun beating at you all the time.

Susan, love your haircut and new picture.

Sue, I am not really a Dells person. The kids will love it though so here we go. Are you liking Shred? How did DD do on her softball game last night? Was it your DH birthday recently?

Hi lala

Have to get busy and make enough meals and lunches for DH while we are gone.

Enjoy

Morning All,

Today I tried Shape Refining Workout #1. I am so so on this one. When did I start having two left feet? I guess I'm sticking with very basic moves. I also did BBC Mission Specialists Lower Beginner workout. Did the advanced version of this one though. :)

We dropped the dog off at Petsmart last night to get groomed. This young lady didn't want to put a muzzle on Cami, and I told her she didn't like getting groomed. Well Cami snapped at her (didn't bite). Cam has to go back today, because she didn't get a chance to brush her or finish her nails. This is the first person that has had a problem with the dog. All the others have put a muzzle her! One of these days this girl is going to get herself chomped on. :( Each time we saw this young lady she complained that she was the only person there, and she was so busy. Well that isn't my problem, I made an appointment over the phone. I'm sorry if you took walk ins!!!! Your problems are not mine! Ok rant over. :)

Sue, How do you like that Prevention Fight Cellulite Fast? I have heard good and bad things about it. But I really like Chris, and was thinking of getting the above, and the kickboxing one she has. You can go to the Dells, but just take a book and park yourself on a lounge chair. :) I'm either doing that or on the lazy river. ;) The Ren Faire is actually later this year, we start July 11th. Gives me just 3 weeks.

Karen, It always seems that we never have enough time to get things all done, but the next two rehersals we are all about the show. Enough with character developement! :) DH has a few problem children, and I hope that at last it is taken care of. :( Have a safe trip tomorrow.

Susan, Love the hair!

Have a great day,

Laurie

Will get in a swim today at the outdoor pool...the first of the summer!
Yesterday did MM.

Laurie, "only" 3 weeks til Ren Faire...time flies:( What kind of dog is Cami?

Karen, the tandem rides sound fun, and enjoy the Dells, as Laurie said, a good book and a lounge chair, and/or the lazy river! When I leave my family, I don´t leave meals...and am so glad they don´t mind! I´m so unorganized that having to fit that in would make me crazy  What are you making your DH?

Susan, love the hair!

Sue, I´ve heard really good thing about the Shred. Is your vacation coming up? Hope you do get to relax!!

Karen - Your DH reminds me of my dad. He never cooked for himself either. I think I remember him once making a hamburger for himself and all of us kids were shocked when we heard about it. You're getting lots of bicycling in. Are the group tandem rides fun? DD's team lost a close one last night. They were ahead 7-1 in the 3rd inning and then the other team scored 8 runs and then the time ran out so the game was over. I've only done Shred a couple of times and I like it. It's tough but straight-forward athletic cardio. No fancy steps to learn. DH's birthday is Oct. 31 - Halloween baby.

Laurie - I'm wondering what you've heard about FCF that was bad (other than it's lower in intensity which I like). The music is a little soft so I suppose some people don't like that. I like Chris as an instructor, too. What's the name of her kickboxing one? I like your idea of bringing a book and reading. The only thing is that a lot of rides require a partner or 4 people to balance the load so I have to go on water slides, too. We told the kids to invite a friend along but they haven't found anyone who can go yet.

Lala - Have fun swimming and remember your sunscreen! Nag, nag. ;) I'm saying it to help ME remember because I usually forget so early in the summer - until I get a sunburn and then I remember. Yes, we have vacation coming up next week. Doing fun stuff in Wisconsin and Michigan.

Susan - Cute hair. It frames your face well. What are you up to today? Busy, no doubt! ;)

I forced my lazy butt out of bed this morning and did Prevention Fight Cellulite Fast cardio (speak of the devil). This has been my go-to workout lately. No dread factor and it's short. Not as intense as Cathe but I was sweating buckets this morning.

Tonight is a football meeting and raffle ticket turn in. I'll be spending most of my lunch hour filling in raffle ticket entries for those we didn't sell. Ugh!

HI ladies!

Man, what a hot busy day! Poor DS is going from this to that with no rest in between! He has a baseball game tonight too! He thinks it's too hot to play but unfortunately the game must go on!

I did not get on the elliptical yesterday cause I got all caught up in housework! Glad that's done. Today I walked Ruby (even hot at 5am!) and am just going down now to get on the elliptical. Think I'll do the Extreme Heart Rate program.

Thanks for the haircut compliments. It sure is easier to deal with, especially in this humidity!

Karen, we have been asked to go to Mt. Olympus with some friends next week. They haven't decided which day yet. I am more like Sue and would rather just be lazy! :p Slightly hoping the weather will not cooperate for me! I hope you have a great time. It looks like the weather will be perfect for you!

Sue, I have heard of those Prevention Workouts but never checked into them. Is Chris tough? What's that cellulite workout like?

Laurie, those 3 weeks are going to fly be fast! I am sure you will be all prepared though!

Hi lala!!

Stay cool ladies! Susan

Susan - Fight Cellulite Fast is the only Prevention workout I have so far so I don't know about any others. I think it's a good workout but it is definitely easier than Cathe - probably an intermediate level. Lately I've found that I just don't have the motivation or energy to do an Imax or other tough cardio at 5 a.m. I save my tougher workouts for nights and weekends when I have more energy and hopefully the time to fit them in. (That hasn't worked so well lately.) I wish the floorwork on FCF was longer though. It seems like you just get started with the butt kicks and they're over before you know it.

Hi to Laurie, Karen and Lala!

Last night I did MM lower body & abs. It's been awhile since I've done a good ab workout so I'm feeling it today. Tonight I plan on doing upper body of some sort and probably Leslie since it's too hot to walk outside.

I'm taking the afternoon off to have the a/c in my minivan looked at. It took about 15 min. driving home last night before it got anywhere close to blowing cool air. I hope it's not too expensive to fix. We have 130,000 miles on it and were thinking of replacing it with something smaller this year.

Just finished STS chest, bis, shoulders and did an STS abs. We only have AC in a couple of bedrooms, so I had the fan blowing on me...it is HOT!

DH surprised me with Amy Bento's surge. It just came in the mail today. Haven't looked at it yet, but will let you know.

Sue, hope the AC on your van doesn't cost too much. AC in the car is one thing I insist on ;)

Karen, looks like you have some great days to keep cool in the Dells!

Susan, how did DS's ball game go? He's right, it is too hot! Just keep drinking those fluids!

DD17 and friend were over yesterday to lay in the sun and friend got really dizzy...from the sun is what I think. Made them lay in the AC! and drink!

Morning All,

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday, but I took the day off of work to help DH with some construction down at the faire. Of course I ended up with a bruised nose. Looks like I took one for the team. It was one of those I thought you had the board things! We got the structure up, so a good day for us.

Yesterday my workout was JM's NMTZ and BBC Code Red. This morning was GS Legs Timesaver #1 and BBC MS Beg Abs. Will get to the gym tonight for some type of cardio. No jumping for this girl, my nose just couldn't take it right now.

Lala, Cami is a german shepherd. I was talking to my neighbor last night (while cami and I where sitting under a tree), and he said his pool was 80 deg. How was your experience with the outdoor pool? Heat exhaustion can sneak up on people pretty fast. We had to fortify ourselves with Gatoraid yesterday. Sometimes just water doesn't do it.

Sue, I think that at amazon I read something about the intensity of that workout. Of course when a intensity freak does a workout like this they give it lower ratings. I have only found her kickboxing one at collage http://www.collagevideo.com/workout...start-your-metabolism-with-chris-freytag-5693 Again it is getting good and bad, but I'm a kb freak anyway! I'm going to be ording this one and the Fight Cellulite one too. I'm the same way you are with the intensity workouts. I look at those Imax workouts and say no. And not just because I don't do step workouts anymore. I'm sure i could do that workout without the step, and still say no way. I was having problems with my mini van (I think you have the same van) at about the same mileage. They replaced the intake manifold, but didn't check the head gasket. Make sure they do that because we had to go in twice. The van wasn't heating for us.

Susan, How did your DS fair with his busy schedule on Tuesday? Did you get your ellipticle workout in?

Have a great day!

Laurie

HI friends!:D Yesterday I walked 45mn and then did Pump Party again. I also mowed the lawn, washed the windows, hosed down the siding, puled weeds.... I was tired! :p This morning I actually woke up early enough to run 5 miles! It was so hot and humid, even at 4am! Now the rain has come and the humidity has dropped a bit. Hope to get some pilates in later.

DS survived his busy Tuesday. They won the game but boy was he tired that night! Yesterday they won their soccer game too. Today is the last busy day of this week for him so Friday will be much easier on him! ;)

Sue, I was able to get "Preventions Drop it in 30" DVD through our library system. Will let you know what I think. It also has Chris as the instructor. Hope your AC was not too costly to fix!

Laurie, hope your nose doesn't hurt too much! Ouch! You sure are doing some great workouts!

Hi Lala!!

Take care ladies! Susan

Laurie - Sorry about your nose - that must have hurt. Thank you so much for understanding about not wanting to do Imax. I feel like such a slacker because I can't (or don't want to do) 6 1 hour Cathe workouts per week like I used to. Even if I had the time, I don't think I could maintain that intensity any more. Especially since there are so many workouts out there that do the job without putting my heartrate in the 170s! I hope you like your Prevention workouts. I'm going to checkout that kickbox one. I just bought a new Leslie and a Results from Amazon so I have to be good for at least, say, a week! ;)

Susan - Are you sure you're not a former Marine? You sure get more done in a day than I do! Thanks for the idea of checking my library for Prevention dvds. I know they don't have any Cathe but they may have Prevention. Just have to pay the 50 cent fine I'm "on the lamb" for and I can reserve materials again.

Not so good news on my minivan. The condenser has a leak so needs to be replaced ($778). The first price he came back with was $1050 and then he found a cheaper price on the part and he took $200 off. This morning when he called and said my total was $778 and I commented that it came in cheaper than estimated. He replied "Well, I helped you out a bit because you looked "sad" yesterday." LOL

Did PP Upper 2x premix last night. This morning I did 2 miles from Leslie's 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk. Tonight I am planning to do cardio. Maybe a Turbo Jam - haven't done one of those in a while.

Today I did a plyo legs and then part of Amy bento´s surge...I had to go through the main workout to figure out her moves. That was FUN :D She has some good moves, keeps the heartbeat up, good music, too! The filming is not that great, but I can deal with it.

Laurie, sorry about your nose :(, but, yea, as you said, sometimes those things are just part of the deal. I swim at the city pool, and when I went the other day it was probably below 80, but it´s big enough that it never gets really warm, but you are right about the heat exhaustion. I was wishing I had brought a water bottle.

Susan, Have to concur with Sue...you sure DO get a lot done in a day! Glad you got a run in today. The humidity here is finally down some and it really feels good.

Sue, so I guess there are some advantages to "looking sad" ! I hate taking the cars in cuz I know it´ll be tons of money, but compared to buying a new one...

Morning All,

Todays workout was Results 10 Days Lower Body, and BBC MS Lower Adv. I may try to get in something else tonight, but will see. The worst part about my nose is that it is swollen, so my glasses don't stay on the bridge of my nose. Really bad when you are in plank, and your glasses are just hanging on by your ears. Today I have the lovely color purple! So i decided to match my shirt to my face!

Susan, Let us know how that Prevention workout is. Yesterday morning was really humid! This morning wasn't to bad, and Cami was sniffing everything. Took us 5 min. longer to get our walk in!

Sue, Which Results workout did you get? From what I understand the other one is good to, I just don't click with Tracey. :) I just did the one with Cindy Whitmarsh this morning. I always enjoy the workout, because you can make it intense or not. Guess I better go get my car fixed with a sad face from now on! That is quite a price to knock off! :)

Lala, Glad you had fun with Amy. Another instructor that I just don't click with. I am so slow at catching things, that when I tried one of her workouts I was just standing looking at the TV for the warm up! I figured that it was a lost cause at that point.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Am about to do STS back and bis. Then off to mow! Tomorrow I leave for FL for a week.
Laurie, I do know what you mean about Amy. I had to put the DVD in slo mo for some of those moves, and others I know I'm doing wrong!

Have a great day, all and a great weekend and week!

Hi there! Today I went for a nice 40mn walk and then got on the ellipitcal for 40mn followed by pilates ab work. Hope to get a run in tomorrow.

Sue, sorry to hear about the cost of fixing the car! At least he did try to get you a break on the price....

Laurie, funny about matching your clothes to your nose! ;) I'll let you know about the workout when I get it (hopefully today!)

Lala, okay, I am jealous you're going to Florida! :p I hope you have a fabulous time!

I am being a nice wife and washing/cleaning the hubby's car for him. I am one of those people that hate a dirty vehicle, unfortunately he could care less! :( If I want it clean, than I have to do something about it!

Have a great day! Susan
