Bike with Trainer

Hi all - I have a pretty decent five speed bike and am wondering if I can put it on a trainer in the basement for winter cardio. Would this activity qualify as spinning. I really don't know much about this.

Also, if this is doable, how much do trainers cost and can you use the bike with spinning/interval videos.
