Bare Escentuals ?

Does anyone use this? I try it on at a local ULTA in Watchung and I really like how flawless your face looks. I try the foundation in Medium Tan but they didn't have anymore:( Im just wondering if this will dry out your skin or not and is it easy to apply? TIA:)

I have used Bare Escentuals for about 6 or so years and I LOVE it. It does take a little getting used to, as far as applying. You have to be careful not to put too much on or you can look "shiny". You will need to experiment and practice and follow the directions enclosed with it.....basically, use the amount in the lid, swirl, tap off excess and buff into the skin. I then use a synthetic concealer brush to lay the minerals down a little heavier where I want to conceal, i.e., under eyes, around nose...etc. I also highly recommend the Warmth or Warm Radiance to put a little color in your face. When I don't wear mine, people ask me if I'm sick. Bare Minerals are great in the humidity also. You can sweat in it (i.e., exercise) or sleep in it and it won't break you out. I also suggest the Mineral Veil for your T-zone if you prefer a more matte look, as the minerals tend to have a natural luminoscity and do make you appear to glow a bit. I tend to like this feature, as I'm 46 and you tend to lose the lustre in your skin as you age.

Good luck and if you have any other questions, please feel free to post here, as I'm a true Bare Minerals person!

ETA: It will not dry you out AT ALL. I have extremely dry skin and it doesn't even make your lines show under your eyes. It is not AT ALL like a powder. I apply moisturizer first and wait a while before I apply my minerals, but my face is always dewey and never dry.

I have used Bare Escentuals for about 3 years. I like it. It has never dried out my skin, but I think I tend to have greasy skin anyway. I put on moisturizer first, though, all the time.

I do the face, then the cheek color, then mineral veil. It's all flawless looking after mineral veil. (Well, as flawless as my skin gets, LOL.)

Love the brushes, they make it fun to apply. I tried a different brush I had at the time and the makeup kind of fell off. I went in and asked them about it and they said that synthetic brushes don't work right with the minerals (or something like that) and after my BE brushes came along, I was hooked. It makes a real difference to use their brushes! I wash mine in soapy water and they've lasted a long time.

I maybe wear makeup 3-4 times a week and I think I've bought the foundation twice in 3+ years. HTH

Hi Barbara, I agree with the other ladies it is great make-up. I would log on to QVC they have tons of different colors and kits at really good prices!! I hope you give it a try. Lori

I've been using it for about a year now and I love it, too. I was very skeptical. I started using liquid foundations, then compacts, but now I'm hooked on the loose powder and I'll never go back.

Sometimes people ask me if I'm even wearing makeup. They just think I have great skin!

I would suggest going to Sephora or Sephora.com if you don't have a store near you. They have a starter kit that's around 50 or 60 dollars but you get the makeup, mineral veil, brushes (LOVE my Kabuki brush!) and a how to DVD. Well worth it!

Its true sephora has it, but QVC has more selections and better prices!! Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Lori

Hi there,

I am glad to see this thread come up! I am wondering if any one of you here know the difference between Bare Escentuals and Shee Cover ( another mineral make-up). I understand they are similar.

Thanks~dmd

I always buy mine on QVC. Best Prices!! They also have Today Special Values twice a year that are really great prices.

My assistant, who is up on all the latest stuff and always looks great, says it's wonderful and will never go back to ordinary make-up. I'd like to try it someday.

I like it too, and I have ordered kits from QVC. They have fantastic little packages. I think I bought a "godess kit" or something like that.

The one problem I have with it is, it's extremely messy. But I am not the neatest of people, so most shouldn't have a problem with it. Even though I like it, I grab my other make-up because I don't want to deal with the mess. :)

Lori

Thank you everyone for your advice. I went to the store and purchase the Foundation in medium and also got the mineral veil.

I love Bare Escentuals! You are right about the flawless appearance. They have lots of starter kits too. Check QVC or Sephora.

I have not tried Bare Escentuals, but was very interested in trying them when I noticed the Physician's Formula Mineral Wear in my local discount store. I tried that first since it was under $10 and I absolutely love it!

I have never been one who liked the feel of foundation nor could I find one that I thought looked natural enough. I like the Mineral Wear because it is very quick to put on, it does not dry my face nor does it make it feel heavy like some foundations I have tried, and it covers the redness near my nose completely without looking fakey.

My daughter uses another brand of mineral makeup (the name of the brand escapes me now) and she swears by it. She is definitely sure that she breaks out less since she has started to use it.

I have oily/acne prone skin and I use and love BE! I used to order directly from them or QVC, but luckily a lady at the salon where I get my hair cut now sells BE.

I love this make-up too, and I HATE make-up!! I have acne and rosacea so my skin is a nightmare product wise to deal with. I have been using BE for a little over a year and I am very pleased with it. People tell me skin is "glowing" all the time!

Actually it can dry your skin. I have very dry skin. As much as I love Bare Escentuals, I can no longer use it because it dries my skin so bad. I don't wear makeup daily as I work at home, so it didn't bother me too much at first. When I went on vacation, I wore it every day. By the time the vacation was over, I was literally scratching my face. It was driving me insane it felt so bad. It looked great, however. My cheeks got to the point where I didn't even need blush as they were permanently red because they were so dry. For anyone wondering, I do use a very good moisturizer. My sister, who has very very oily skin, can wear it with no problems. She is so oily that she was literally patting oil off her face in the afternoons. Her face is no longer oily since wearing Bare Escentuals. I have tried it several different times including different brands. I tried Sheer Cover which I actually liked more then Bare Escentuals, but it also bothered my skin. I have talked to several different specialists who told me that it was the makeup making me drier.

On a positive note, the makeup looks excellent and is so easy to apply. Make sure you get the right shade. My first shade was too dark, and my skin looked really drab and old. Once I found the right shade, it looked great.

I just saw an infomercial about this product. So, it sounds like everyone really likes it? I looked on the web site and it says that Leslie (forgot her last name) is going to be on QVC on Sept 17 from 10p-midnight. I wonder if they will have specials then? This stuff isn't cheap!

Lauren Hutton came on shortly after with a make up disc for about the same price. Maybe a little more. Hmm, decisions, decisions! :)
