This is Elwood, the winner of the 2007 World's Ugliest Dog Contest:

Elwood is a rescue dog so HOORAY ELWOOD!!! He's a Chinese Crested/Chihuahua mix.

Pee Wee is a Chinese Cresteed/Japanese Chin mix

At first glance they're a bit horrifying LOL but after you look at them for awhile they grow on you.

Awww - poor little guys. Probably very loving and very sweet dogs, but forever banded as ugly. Glad my Aussie is cute. At least one of us is! :+

I saw a news report about Elwood quite some time ago. He has a face only a mother could love! LOL

Seriously though, I love dogs and think they are all cute in their own way.

I just saw Elwood on a LIVE local talk show on Monday. He's alive and kicking (unless it was a taped and re-released version of this show, of course). I was running on the treadmill with an iTread in and when they kept focussing in on this dog's face, I couldn't help but LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH! That tongue stickin' out. Too cute! lol

Looks to me like Chinese Cresteds have a rather high risk of turning out ugly. Wonder if they have a high instance of 'birth defects' of some kind ? (I caught part of the "Ugliest Dog Contest" on Animal Planet earlier this year, and quite a few of the contenders are Chinese Cresteds or mixes of CC and something else).

I saw that too--I think he's adorable! That guy who said his tongue looked like a half-eaten fruit rollup had me LMAO......
