Today, for Christmas, my boss gave us all the afternoon off work. In true Catheite fashion, I spent my afternoon off doing a brutal Cathe workout: STS Total Body, followed by STS Total Body Compound Only No Abs Premix.
I had a lot of fun with this one. I love the workout as is, I really do, but I love it so much that I know if I do it over and over I should shake things up a bit and hit the muscles slightly differently once in a while to make sure everything's covered. I've done STS TB quite a lot the last week or two, so I wanted to mix things up a little.
For this workout, sometimes I did overhand rows instead of underhand, horizontal one arm rows instead of vertical, rear delt flies instead of upright rows, pullovers instead of pull ups, wall squat holds instead of some of the deadlifts, plie squats instead of some of the narrow squats, some of the static lunges were turned into alternating forward or backward lunges, sometimes I used weight, sometimes I didn't.
Interestingly enough, I actually feel fresher at the end of this extended workout than I did after the first few times doing this workout just as is. Man, the first time I did STS TB, I thought my heart was going to come out of my chest at the end of the first set of wide stance deadlifts!
This is my absolute favourite Cathe workout to date, and I have almost all of them, so I know whereof I speak. When she came out with STS, I was really hoping she'd do a STS Total Body too, and I was thrilled when she did! It doesn't disappoint and I thought the new additions to the crew were perfect- and truly excellent form.
Now I'm off to do a little CardioCoach- it's afternoon, so my neighbour can't complain that I'm on the treadmill!
By the way, I turn 40 at the end of this week - what kind of killer workout should I do to celebrate the fact that I can kick ass way harder at this age than I ever could when I was younger?
