Default Best Weight Workouts?

Hey, everyone,

I've only been doing Cathe workouts for a few months, but already have almost 20 of her downloaded workouts. So far, I tend to exercise the same way I always did since I started with the original Firms back in the late 80's: cardio + weights in the same workout (interval training). Since I started with Cathe, I've pretty much kept to that, although I also have a few that are pure cardio: two kickboxing (Kick, Punch & Crunch and Kick Max), Cardio Core Circuit, the three HiiT's. Now I'm thinking of doing something that's entirely weight work (or 75% or more, anyway). Any recommendations? What are your favorites, Cathletes?

The answer depends on whether you are looking for a split routine or a total body routine.

For split routines, my #1 recommendation would be STS. It's a great program that will change your body if done as prescribed. My other favorites (in order of preference) are: Gym Style series (LOTS of pushups in the chest workout!), Slow & Heavy, Pyramid Upper/Lower Body.

My favorite total body workouts (in order of preference) are: Maximum Intensity Strength (an oldie but it's a toughie--plus you get other workouts on that DVD), Muscle Max, Muscle Endurance. Please note, I have not done the new total body workouts yet (STS Total Body and High Reps), so I can't comment on those, but people seem to love those as well.

All of Cathe's stuff is good, but if I had to pick "favorites," those are it. Be sure to check out the video clips before you buy so you can get an idea of what the workout looks like.

HTH!

Total Body, the new ones for sure are challenging, i.e. STS Total Body (was feeling that a good day & a half after) & High Reps, still very light on this & will surprise you, they're both excellent. Perennial favorite, Muscle Max.

Pyramid Upper Body/ Pyramid Lower Body favorite from the Intensity Series.

3 -day Splits, Slow & Heavy you can go really heavy here, and Pure Strength, that's a good one with an excellent leg workout. (don't have STS, haven't done Gym Style yet)

You could check out Cathe's & Fitnessfreak's Muscle building rotations, there you would find some really good rotations using many of Cathe's weight workouts.

There's others, 5-day splits and countless premixes you could use from all her strength DVD's. Post a question for specific ones if you want more ideas.

Hi !

Splits: another STS vote, I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Four Day Split (you can still piggyback cardio of your own or as designated with this one and it has a TON of awesome premixes) and Upper and Lower Pyramids

Total Body: STS, High Reps, Power Hour, Muscle Endurance

Have fun!

I agree with Lisa about Maximum Intensity Strength being a great workout. I like also Power Hour, the Pyramid set, and the Slow and Heavy set.

I recommend buyin STS Today Body, and if you like that, then buy the STS series. (One other idea is to buy the first 60% R1M set first, to see if you like it). The consensus on this site is that the STS series is great.

The entire STS bundle is on sale for an incredible price, so there's that. I just ordered mine, it's a great deal!

There's also Gym Styles, it's 3 DVDs and I love love love them, but with the STS sale right now, I think you'd barely spend more on 36 DVDs than you would with the 3 Gym Styles DVDs, so I'd go for it!
